Yeah, people have to work Monday like me right now so I saw DBFZ and skiped SFV.
Yeah, I actually think being last is a negative with how long Evo lasts on the final day.
It really was. Pretty much everything about the game led up to last night and it could not have been more amazing.
All of these people watched Bardock's goddamn level 3 super over 50 times.
The top 8 was a good showing, among the games at Evo that game is lower on games I actually enjoy watching, but that top 8 was a lot of fun

There just isn't enough dirty stuff going on in this game. It's too simple.
The biggest problem is the lack of character entrance when a character gets KO'd. The matches feel like they take forever, and there just isn't anything exciting going on. I mean, you have Yipes commentating and there was barely anything for him to go off of. Opening up a character isn't really possible with anything dirty. Players regularly get caught in the corner and can block everything, the only time they get opened up is if they make a mistake. The overheads are so obvious, and that's pretty much the only thing to open people up in the corner. The characters are all pretty much slight variations of each other.
Is it the Dragonball property? Or is it explained by the timeslot + growth in viewer numbers as EVO gets bigger?

It briefly hit 210K when some Fortnite streamer hosted the EVO stream. It was around 170-180K when I went to sleep.
I'd say it was both. DBZ is mega popular in general and the time slot was great for international viewership.
Damn, that's crazy. SF normally crushes everything else viewership-wise.
The event was already behind, and DBFZ made it even worse, so anyone who had to work Monday in the East and Central Timezones probably cut out at some point. I know I did.
I think SFV was 214K peak not including foreign streams and YouTube/Facebook numbers. Still pretty good considering the time, especially in the EU. I couldn't watch as it was around 5am when it started.
Yeah, I had to go to sleep, so I didn't even end up watching the SFV finals. As is, my sleep schedule is totally fucked now.
The timing was pretty bad even in the US. Ended at 2am in central.

DBFZ has gone way past my own expectations for general interest. I love ArcSys but I cynically expected DBFZ to be kind of a weaker licensed fighting game, but it turns out I'm feeling pretty wrong a few months into its lifespan -- it's personally one of my favorite fighting games ever now. It nails the fan service elements, it nails the casual/hardcore balance in its gameplay, and its audio and visual polish give it a sense of spectacle that currently outperforms all its rivals IMO.
Hearing the crowd do power up screams to the intro sequences yesterday was just dope and really drove home the excitement, IMO. I've gotten excited at every Evo but I don't think I've reached that level of excitement since SFIV's sunset days.

Same! I thought I'd be able to catch it but the delays were ridiculous. Only saw G/Sagat then went to sleep immediately.

Truly. Viewership was up across the board from the beginning, and had less to do with DBFZ and more to do with just being in the prime timeslot for the viewership spike. Not to say the Grand Finals wasn't a great showcase.
The only thing that interests me in this game is the Sonic Fox vs. Japan rivalry. As an anime player: I have a vested interest in seeing non-Japanese players take the throne away from the East - or at the very least compete. Street Fighter has finally started getting that kind of diversity in its Top 8s and now its time to see that happen with other games as well.
But, yeah, I just did math problems between the matches Sonic Fox wasn't playing.
Yeah, I couldn't even make it to grand finals. Tapped out at 2am. I imagine alot of folks couldn't as well since they likely had work tomorrow

I live in Central time zone and was already tired from going to a convention all weekend. So after DBFZ aired I quickly dove into bed
