PSA. I have a 254 hour save, $400 million and about 6 S class ships. Played it for about another 12 on the weekend and booted it up today to find it's at the start of the game. Luckily I have a USB back up at the 254 mark but I lost a tonne of progress I guess. PS4 on 1.53. Game crashes about 5 times while playing. Last crash must have wiped it. Also I was doing a bunch of frigate missions.

You can get upgrades for your suit that will help increase your exposure time.
Otherwise the best thing to do is just dig holes when the storms start, provided the caves aren't filled with radioactive plants.
I'm not sure if it's a PS4 bug or not, but currently only hostile Sentinel worlds count towards extreme survival milestones. Weather conditions are irrelevant.

I didn't realise it was about the achievement at the time, but I'm fairly certain especially hazardous planets did used to count pre-NEXT. Maybe they changed it?

Not sure about Atlas Rises, but I remember the original release required you to spend something like 8 hours on an extreme world without leaving. I think the current achievement is just bugged, though.

Man, the amount of resource grinding for these base missions is too much sometimes.

Is there a quicker way to get blueprints aside from digging up buried tech for salvage?

I hate it that some icons just refused to disappear even though I've reached the destinations and/or cleared the area. For example are crashed freighter and ancient ruins. It's annoying because I regularly receive new points of interest from the aliens in trading posts, which lead me to already visited places.

Well, at least you still receive the missions. My base base mission stopped right after the very first one. I never get another one and I'm already clocked at 40 hours.

Is the mining heat meter bugged? I can overheat it, stop and then hit the trigger again as soon as the meter starts going down and it will warp to zero heat again.

I think this is a feature. It's been like this launch. Feels like a bit of skill is involved in keeping it at "full" for as long as possible to get the most out of it before releasing and pulling it again.

I'm not so sure it's an intended feature so much as a happy accident they kinda shuffled ass backwards into, like the melee jump boost. I also like it - it's basically active reload.

This game is crack. I said i wasnt gonna really get into doing anything of substance until the patches fixed everything. I mean we can expect at least 5 more patches improving things in the next month or so. But i still spent 4 hours just wandering around a planet, farming and refining shit. And im still 1 goddamn creature short on the planet. I really wish they'd make a device that helps you locate the creatures.

A moon that sits in a planet's rings makes for some surreal, breathtaking vistas.

I like the game, but I think I am going to wait until they have time to patch something besides bugs. They are doing a wonderful job with it though.

Still surreal to see mixed reviews on Steam and not SUPER DUPER NEGATIVE lol.

Every now and then the RNG nature of the game just pisses me off. Like, I had a 10 slot multi-tool with 3 s-class scanner upgrades. I managed to score those 3 upgrades in the first 6 systems I visited. I upgraded to a 23 slot multi-tool today because, come on, of course I'm going to, and I've warped to 10+ systems today; only 2 s-class scanner upgrades. And my previous tool was +9600, +9100, +6800. My new tool has +6300 and +6100. That is supremely fucking frustrating! I'm not hurting for cash so much as for nanites, so scanning everything is a huge boost regardless, but I wouldn't mind slightly more consistency. I mean, the difference between +6000 and +9999 is over a third; that's a lot of disparity in "gold standard" upgrades. Granted, this tool is also only temporary because it's "only" a 23-slot A-class, and a 24-slot S class is obviously better, but still.

I've entered the phase of the game where I'm warping between systems without exploring basically anything. I still haven't actually started the base-building quests! I probably should focus on that more than my multi-tool. But shit, I was getting so complacent earning millions of units for 3 minutes of scanning on any random planet. That's way more fun than a farming or crafting loop.

Found a sweet A-class busted hauler that had around 35 slots but had so many broken parts. I built my base around it and was fixing it up all last night. I must have put the edge of my base too close or something because I logged into today and the hauler is just gone :(. I poured so much stuff into it too! Arrgh

uh, question, when you quit was your previous ship your active ship? If so, go to the vehicles quick menu and it should have an option to call a different vehicle you own and it should be on that list. Whatever is not your active vehicle despawns when you quit but as long as you claimed it as yours (like either exchange a ship for it or "buy" it) you should be able to call it again.

Urgh. The survival milestone is the worst part of the game because it isn't cumulative and you can't alt-tab to do other shit.

The survival milestone is definitely cumulative nowadays I'm pretty sure at least I know I hit 5 sols today after having only been on a planet for about 20 mins. I want to say it was only in the original release that it was not.

Has the patches gotten this to run at a respectable level on the ps4 pro? Also, are the crashes less so than 1.50? I want to play this more, but I also do not want to sour the experience with multiple frame drops and crashes. So I have been waiting it out instead.

Been keeping an eye on this thread and Reddit, and it doesn't look like it. I mean a few posts after yours...

I've been stuck on 3 Sols for a few days. Been to Extreme Sentinal planets and Extreme Storm planets and it hasn't budged at all. Of course, the game has always been inconsistent about which Extreme planets actually count.

So what do you guys do here? Also do you put engines and stuff on both ships?

I'd pick a ship as your "main" and use that. Once you've got a freighter, base, expanded inventory and other ships/exocraft you can use as extra storage you can manage with an exotic as your main ship if you prefer using that one. Failing that you could warp between systems with your freighter and then use your ships like tenders or dinghies to go back and forth between bodies and then you can forgo warp upgrades entirely.

I feel the game doesn't massively hinder you if you decide to use a ship for cosmetic purposes rather than the "best" in terms of size.

Yeah definitely cumulative, what a pain :D I too want to say very early on it was changed to cumulative, second or third patch maybe?

Is there really no other way to refuel hydroponic trays than one by one ? Talk about tedious.

The trays are like an early game version of the Biomes you can build, those are maintenance free.

When chatting it up with NPCs, is it worth it to make some of the resources to use? Is there a reward chart?

This guy wants:
1x Magnetized Ferrite
75x Pure Ferrite
10x Sodium Nitrate

Which is worth it?

It depends on the NPC, a lot of the time what they say will be a hint, if you haven't unlocked the language then you just have to guess. Generally high quality items would be better.

Sweet just found an exotic ship. Not sure when I'll ever use it but it feels nice to have. 20 inventory slots with 6 upgrade slots too.

I find the best way to go about getting all the animals on a planet is to not get to focused on it. You're going to be visiting dozens, if not hundreds, so no need to go crazy at the start, it will come to you over time. Some planets you just luck out on, but it's easier to find them all on the planets with very total species.

I just visited a planet earlier where the total was 13, but I'd had 10 scanned just by standing around my very first initial landing site. the next 3 came really quickly, and a while later when I was scanning plants I bizarrely came across a 14th!

well damn there it is! I did this before the freighter step so I thought it was just gone when it didn't show up on the ship. I have like 3 other ships in that menu list, which was the first time seeing that as well so thank you lmao

Has there really been no mention of the NPC base progression bug from developers even after being around for so long? It renders the game unplayable for me since I can't get hold of necessary blueprints.

Hmm. That's too bad. I do really enjoy the game. Well, at least the 10 or so hours that I have played. Seems like a game I would play for several hundred hours, if not more.

Perhaps I will just put the game down and come back to it another time. Maybe the game will be in a more playable state. Then again, Hello Games may just add more complexity to the game, and in turn add more bugs and crashes.

It just may be another 2 years before I pick this back up! lol

Man, I really have no drive to keep playing after finishing the story. I don't care about grinding out missions, I don't care about basebuilding, and I've been to so many planets that I feel like I've seen what the game has to offer. Oh well.

Yeah it's frustrating. I own a game that's been out for ages, but can't play it. A game that crashes or wipes saves is unacceptable.

Lots of games to play in the meantime though!

Dammit. I've been wondering when I would get a beacon but I'm having the bug where my base quest line is pointing me to my freighter, where there is no base computer to access and trigger the next step...
Have you tried any of this ?

It's a bug. What I did to fix it was summon my freighter somewhere else, go to my base, save and reload. (If you try this you should back up your save just to be safe, even though I haven't heard of any issue)
Others have said that building a base computer in the same system as your freighter fixed it.

This is where im at as well. The game is just way too buggy for me. Feels like its in early access and im play testing it.

Thanks, I will give that a shot! I already have bases in the system I was in so I'll try moving the freighter.

For me, it went from showing the marker on my freighter, to then being in the middle of space. I used a Station Terminus to warp, if you have missions in a system, it should show their icon next to the system name on the terminus list. Go to the system it says your mission is in, then build a base computer there and delete it. Head back to my actual base, save, reload, and the marker was next to my base computer.

Follow the ingame tips. You basically have to get the life support and hazardous stuff to refill then it will point you to your ship.

I spoke to Grant Duncan not long before the Next update he seemed to intimate that, like the melee boost, it was a sort of unintentional feature.
