It was better for the Liberals to let Ford happen versus presenting the NDP as a better alternative because they assume it'll swing back to them in the next election. Part this mess is on them for letting it happen. Stupid fucking people just waver between Liberal and PC and don't take any other option given to them, despite the fact that the actual vote share in Ontario swings more left than right.

Wynne wasn't the problem. I liked her. (Well, up until that bizarre late campaign speech.) All the recent failings of the Liberal party were dumped on her, though.

Check out these close ridings in Scarborough. Guildwood almost went to a Toronto cop under investigation for threatening someone after asking why he was avoiding debates. Doug Ford doesn't actually have the popular support in the suburbs many people including himself claim to have. These 2 ridings could have easily went NDP.

Almost forgot about Rouge Park. I can't believe 4 out of 6 Scarborough ridings could've went to the NDP had people rallied for them but no, the votes were split. Imagine that only ~40% of voters in Scarborough supported Doug Ford.

Apparently that tool shows deleted tweets.

"Lend your vote to us because you have no chance of winning.", "I know we have no chance of winning, but you have an even less chance. Vote for us", "your platform is far too extremist. The electorate wont vote for you. Vote for us because we are the moderate center", "Why did you take votes from us. Now the Conservatives Won".
Every. Single. Fucking. Time. It's always the NDP's fault in the eyes of Liberals. We are expected to share our votes with the Liberals no matter what no questions asked. To be unofficial members of a party that doesn't share our views. And yet the moment we fight back when the Liberals drop the ball and have no chance of being elected the Liberals can't even return the fucking favour to prevent the very boogyman they used against us for years. And in fact they put roadblocks to ensure their boogyman wins. It's bullshit, plain and simple.
Anyhow we're not talking about the NDP taking literally every single vote from the Liberals. The margins between the NDP and the PCs in all the key ridings were so incredibly tiny. We're talking less than 10,000 votes total to completely flip the election to a Minority. A number that would have easily been achieved if the Liberals didn't pull the shit they did in the final days of the election after already conceding defeat.
And if the end result was that the Liberals lost all but 2 of their seats while still having a million votes, then maybe they will learn their lesson on how trash this voting system is like the Greens and NDP learned a long time ago. Hopefully BC and PEI actually go through with fixing this broken electoral system so we can take out the stupid fear mongering arguments against PR in this country.

Seriously. The momentum that NDP got went down after she conceded defeat. It was definitely intentional so that the PC will win and they got a chance to win again in 4 years. I seriously hate party first before country (province) first mindset.
Weird how Jordan Peterson hasn't said anything about Ontario News Now, almost like he's a conservative with an agenda or something.
It had nothing to do with the lack of change. There was plenty change in the form of Pharmacare for under 25 & over 60, Climate Change, Minimum Wage Increases, Increased OSAP Grants, Progressive Education programs, An unprecedented provincial wide transit build out, ect.
Where they screwed up was they Privatized Hydro, signed into crappy Hydro Contracts which had the result of skyrocketing rates, increased "taxes" through Carbon Pricing, and Sex Education (whose mere existence pissed off and galvanized the Conservative base). Plus 15 years of Leadership, Scandals and Corruption. It was their time to go no matter what, and they helped the OPCs burn the NDP bridge in the final days of the election to ensure a Ford win. Fearing that the NDP with all of its social policy announcements would actually be likable and stay in power for a couple terms

Then scrubbed before the government propoganda machine was launched...Though, the account's page says they've joined twitter July 2018. Maybe when accounts change ownership, there's a thing on twitter's side to make it "official" so previous holder can't make a claim of ownership, but that tool still pulls tweets from previous ownership?
Either that or whoever the gov hired to run it went rogue and was swiftly dealt with before it was launched to public/anyone noticed.
Wynne lost this election. A lot of people were still salty over Hydro One being sold and prices going up.
