China
Anyone saying phone translation would/should be cute have never had to do this for the long run. You'll never truly know each other unless you speak each others language enough to be coherent of the other's meaning and tone, so you'll never be able to know kf you'd want to truly continue dating this person enough that you'd be inspired to take classes.

Unless this is a hook-up, abandon ship. I've done it before in China a handful of times and they always went south.

Tried this on a tourist guide I met in Rome who spoke minimal English.
Was one of the most awkward experiences ever. Good luck OP, haha!

How did it go OP?

Don't worry about the language barrier, just use body language and a translator app in the short term. Try learning some Spanish, there is a lot of free apps that can teach you.

One of my co workers is dating someone from Columbia and he has been teaching himself Spanish, getting really good at it too.

Can you recommend one of those apps?

As for OP, learning a language is fun as a couple. Maybe hand her a syllabus, sit her down at a library and get in a few hours of work on noun verb agreement before the dancing.

First off, this thread was awesome. A lot of you were very supportive and I really appreciate that.
Now, let me not keep you in anticipation any longer.

I'd be lying if I told you that last night wasn't one of the funnest nights I've had in a very very long time.

It started off a little uncomfortable, I'm not going to lie. She even told me how nervous she was. Her palms were soo sweaty lol (knees weak, arms were-_ nvm).
But I told her to just relax and that it's going to be fine. I was cool as a cucumber so that hopefully it would rub off.

It did. Once we got dancing, we started talking more using my limited spanish and the translate app. I would type some cute stuff and show it to her and she'd just smile from ear to ear.
We started at a place with american music but she wasn't feeling it, so i took her to a Latin club and that's when shit heated up. This girl knows how to dance so well.

This is where I kissed her again since the last time we hungout. Didn't want to rush into it lol. Wasn't sure if she was just being nice and letting me kiss her until at one point she grabbed my face out of no where and brought me in haha good times.

To fast forward, I took her home because she has some stuff to do really early in the morning. I got home at 6 in the mornin' like you hear in those rap songs.
But things got very interesting in my car, and I'll leave it like that.

This... could actually work, tho. Make sure you roll that "R", OP, and this line would sell itself.
This makes me smile so much because there was a point where I said a word and I forgot to roll my R's, so I repeated by rolling it hyperbolically and she started laughing so hard. it was an ongoing joke throughout the night that made us both laugh :D

I'm seeing her again this Friday and she said she'll be able to stay over at my house next time. So, that should be fun.

Thanks again guys, I'm glad a lot of you really helped me gain the courage to go through with this amazing night. One for the books, for sure!

Yes!!! Glad you weren't discouraged. Language barriers usually result in some of the best date experiences; letting the body language dominate will make the night that much epic, and yours did.

Now learn her language and watch her learn yours, it's going to be a fun summer.

I'm already RSVPing for the wedding in 3 years.

Wow, look at that. An Era member being completely normal and handling a situation with the nuance and maturity it requires and having it work out fine.

How about that!

This is a great opportunity for you, I'd be surprised if you don't get laid from it.

Damn that's a dope conclusion OP

Should be a fun fling at the minimum and if there's a deeper connection, you're gonna have a killer story to tell folks about how yall met

Fuck the haters. Use a phone translator and have some fun. People in this thread don't know what they're missing.

EDIT: oh fuck you've already sealed the deal

What did he do that was supposed to be impressive?
He took a situation which half the thread said was going to be a disaster, and succeeded. Look at how many posts say to bail or that "it's not a romcom, don't do it". And then you have the good job and congrats posts so clearly he did something right.

Either way I was just being facetious.
