Oh this is even missing the reason Nintendo stopped working with his youtube channel. He started attacking Lamar Wilson cause he was more successful than him. If he wasn't such a huge fucking asshole he could be great cause he was legitimately creative. He deserves all the shit he's gotten.

Also Andre and the Gamexplain crew are the best Nintendo people on internet right now. Nothing but love for them.

But, what information though? Unless the content of those videos pertain to some sense of self-awareness in his bigotry that he is trying to better himself over, or underline even further deep-rooted signs of his abhorrent views, they provide nothing to this topic. There are many here who don't/didn't know him prior to coming in here, but learning of any talent he may have for video-editing Nintendo content shouldn't pertain in any way the drawing of a conclusion that he is a vocal problem on all forms of social media, and should be de-platformed period.

I have no idea who this josh link is, but I'm glad my boy Andre drug his ass through the mud.

Why is it inappropriate? It's basically just showcasing the work he does in an easy to watch manner.

Just to be clear I'm not trying to pick a fight. It's just that keeping information on Josh's career hard to get doesn't really inform people like me on who Josh is. Knowing who he is helps.

Hell, I googled him when this thread was created earlier and what I got was information on the comedian, Josh Thomas.

All I'll say is Andre is the man, for not giving a shit for that sonuvabitch.

Yeah, he's a talented person.

But as we have seen as of late in many forms: talented does not exempt you from being an asshole.

Like all he had to do really was:

1) Not bring up GameXplain...but he likes doing that in a "Nuh-uh! I dumped HIM!" sort of way.

2) After the Ban from Twitter (twice?)...just don't show who you really are. Let your content speak for itself. I remember in Roger's Discussions, he brought up Trump sometimes, I think it was "Daddy Trump" at least once.

3) Reflect on yourself and why you are pushing people away.


I mean, looking at video comments, his fanbase like mocking GameXplain more than he does and even if he doesn't reply to them, he likes the comments. This probably enables it more from them.

I mean look it reminds me of the Game Grumps Breakup 5 years ago where we all wanted to know what happened and they never told us. But we got the Star Wars Jontron's in 2015 which featured Arin and it was like "Huh, guess they are still friends somewhat."

And even after the 2017 backlash of JonTron, they still mention him in episodes, I remember Dan in a Majora's Mask episode being like "I stopped watching Grumps after Jon left the show."...but they never say anything bad about him. They have said they no longer speak to him though I think after the 2017 thing.

Josh is all-negative towards almost everyone though.

Very true. Guy was obsessed with Lamar, calling his content lazy, and angry that Lamar had more access to Nintendo than him. Pretty sure, maybe not explicitly, but Josh implied Lamar's success and access was only because of his race. :|

The thread had already evolved past this particular situation and became about Josh as a person. I'm not promoting his work or taking away from your OP.
I posted those videos because I think there is an interesting juxtaposition between his offensive social media activity and the more agreeable side of him.
From what I remember he seems to be quite a likable guy on his Youtube videos as well as in person, according to Rogersbase who is friends with him.

Josh is clearly brainwashed by the likes of Steven Crowder, which he has admitted to being a massive fan of. I can definitely see why someone would have these opinions if all they've been exposed to are conservative talking points. Ultimately I would like to see him get challenged on these topics and hopefully have him reconsider his ideas and behavior.

Josh has been bad since the Wii Days. The only difference now is he's openly racist and bigoted instead of simply aggressive and less openly racist. He's not going to reconsider any of his opinions, it's not who he is.

He's probably different in his videos because there are no minorities for him to get mad at in his videos.

Always thought Josh was an idiot, it always made me a little annoyed back when Andre used to invite him into their videos.

Or, as I suspect with him and several others, he's aware enough of how toxic his views can be to the core of his online presence - his videos (and by association, his wallet) - and simply dials it back for them, which if it is the case only adds a layer of insidiousness to his behaviour.

Used to follow his channel and he just started going downhill rapidly a few years back and this type of stuff isn't surprising in the least.

That would explain why he thought the need back in the day to have a secret "Dark" Twitter account, and why now he's calling screen caps of his own tweets fabricated lies.

Another thing; he's like the antithesis of what the animal crossing community is all about, so it's kind of sad that he likes to view himself as the go-to-guy for AC lol

The thing that annoys me the most in situations like this are all the people trying to defend him (not much here but more on youtube and twitter) what he has said and done is pretty much indefensible. Thanks for this post op. I wasn't aware of any of this. Ten years ago I watched his Wii videos, and forgot about him until someone posted his picture in here and I remembered. Mad at myself I ever liked his content. Disgusting person

Like I say, pure speculation, but there is a recurring theme at place with online celebs of them having a defence force built seemingly out of recognising the good work he and others do for their own content, and the disconnect of that and the video makers political views.

Sure, a lot of these video makers and streamers are coming more and more out of the woodwork as right wing politics has managed to slot itself back into a lot of aspects of Western (not even just American) political structures, but they have managed to garner a decent career by and large during the YouTube gold-rush of gaming videos, and more recently through Twitch, during which time I've seen nothing to say they generated this kind of bigoted rhetoric over-night. It's been there, as it has been in so many circles, communities and fanbases online, just masked behind a neutral guise of "video games! Yay!". The fact they know it's a damaging perception to have is even more infuriating, they know they are wrong because being too open with your bigotry frequently leads to your supply of attention/cash being cut-off or neutered, so they dial it back when needed.

It's infuriating too, as right there is the crux of how to deal with these people; if they're exposed and have said source of attention/revenue damaged, they fuck off. Ignoring them, or separating their online presence from their work does nothing.

Yeah the videos I have watched of him have been pretty non-political. At most he would piss people off by being too critical of Nintendo at times.
His social media reveals an entirely different dimension to this guy.

I still have hope that he can change his more bigoted views if he was properly challenged on them. Others here are obviously not as hopeful of that happening.

This LonelyGoomba guy instantly jumped to defend Josh Thomas and downplay his racism (Coincidentially LG just got a shout out in that recent JT video it seems)

Andre posted like 10 or so awful racist tweets by JT so LG tries to find the least offensive one, and focused on that to create his argument about how its a popular opinion, an agenda by anti republicans, and downplay the racism.

That's how racists, bigots, and fucked up assholes work, they try to downplay everything as just a political agenda, a witch hunt, or fake outrage. The saddest thing is how it works since they all keep spewing the same nonsense to each other and using it as an argument.

Then there's all the "Keep the politics away" or "I like the content, not his personal views" or "just ignore him so he won't succeed!" replies.

How is it so common that racist people post with the grammar and context of a 12 year old brain.

Sometimes I think they are all lead poisoned from an early age and explains their terrible iq.
