Hey Ya'll, just joined ParentEra last Sunday. Baby Girl is 1 week old today. Mom is doing pretty well all things considered, she had a kick-ass labor... Pushed for only 40 mins and it was pretty amazing. She's had some complications after, scratched urethra which is bumming her out and the stitches are dissolving now and it's painful, so she's doing well all things considered, but she's sick of feeling hurt.
Baby was 8lbs 4oz on the way out, 21". She's doing really well a week later.
We've kind of gotten into a good schedule with sleep and the last 2 nights have actually been pretty decent. It's a 2.5hr cycle of Feed -> Swaddle -> Sleep -> Diaper -> Feed [repeat], and while obviously it's not like we're getting a beauty rest, we're crashing to bed by 10pm and I'm getting up at 7am so my wife can take the final couple hours and I'm on baby duty, and it's actually been fine. Yesterday I was able to get up early and had my infant asleep on my chest, my dog asleep in between my legs, and I was playing Madden '19 on X1X while my wife was passed the hell out getting beauty rest, and besides Madden '19 being kinda shitty, I realized I was living my best life at that moment.
LAst night..... at like 2am, of course, baby's got a soiled diaper... just pee which is great, so I take if off, and I make the crritical rookie mistake of throwing the dirty diaper into the Diaper Genie before putting th eother one down. This was the first time I'd done this in the last 7 days of changing diapers. Every other time I'd laid her little butt in the new diaper before throwing away the old, this was THE FIRST TIME. And naturally, Little Baby has a blow out mustard fart poop all over the damn changing table. Normally, I'd let my wife sleep but I was like "MRS ALBATROSS I NEED HELP ... GET PAPER TOWELS AND A PLASTIC BAG!!" It seriously looked like when you're making pancakes, and you first pour the pancake batter onto the skillet, this like perfectly round 2mm tall circle of brown, lumpy, stringy baby-waste.
First night home was one of the roughest nights of my life. Literally one of those "... what the fuck did we do..." moments. But night 2 was easier, night 3 was bad, and then nights 4, 5, and 6 have actually been pretty decent.
