I'd feel too awkward to bring it up or demand it free.

I was once given a free meal by the person in front of me in a drive thru and there was no one behind me to pass it on.

keep buying pizza until they aren't free, if this one is late the next one might be too, and the next and the next

If a pizza is 10-15 minutes late I'm not going to be a bitch and complain about the extra wait. The teenage delivery driver most likely got held up at the last house or in traffic.

Where do you live, OP? I thought those kind of timed promotions were done away with after that really high profile car wreck from dominos in the 90's where the driver died.

What delivery service still has a policy like this? I thought most pizza places gave up on that stuff in the 90's.

Yeah I probably wouldn't bring it up for fear it'd get the driver in trouble or something

There hasn't been a place around here with that kind of guarantee for years.

Didn't Dominos famously do this in the 80s until it obviously created a shit ton of traffic accidents by rushed delivery drivers?

It's such a bad idea.

OK, 122... 122 1/8? 122 1/8. Terrific. Where the heck is 122 1/8?

The only time I've ever been offered a meal for free is when our server was having a really bad day and was horribly racist towards my family and I.

No, I rarely get delivery. I normally just pick up instead. I didn't know those sort of deals existed anymore, though. I know Domino's stopped their "30 minutes or it's free" deal in the early 90s because of car crashes.

I have only asked for a free pizza once when it was over an hour late. (Total time almost 2 hours)

You do you though OP. Free pizza is free pizza.

I'm surprised there's a place that still does this after Domino's got sued after a driver killed someone in an accident

I don't eat food from such plebeian places that would even have such an offer.

I definitely saw that promotion when I was in Cali. I think it was being run by Dominos.

After an hour of ordering, they claimed to have put it in the oven. Then some guy calls me, says they were out of butter, asked if I wanted a large pizza for $7.99 instead. I cancelled. No pizza is free too :(

This practice is outlawed in some places? Dominos Japan lets you "bet" like 2 or 3 extra dollars when you order that the pizza will be there even faster than normal or its free lol.

I remember when Domino's here had that promotion. However, I think they removed that "Less than 30mins or your Pizza is free" due all the accidents that the delivery guys had.

i get free pizza frequently because they got the ingredients wrong. Apparently meat lovers + green olives is fairly difficult.
I've gotten everything from no green olives, to green peppers, to black olives. don't put green olives on your menu if you can't handle someone ordering them.

In that first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie Michaelangelo stiffs the pizza dude because he can't find their stupid sewer in time, and I've loathed him ever since.

How much you tipping tho?
Who cares? I delivered pizza for 5 years in college. Between the stiffs and being good at my job and maximizing the people who did tip me, I still made $20+/hr after accounting for basic vehicle maintenance and gas. Not bad for mostly sitting on my ass listening to NPR in the car. I delivered plenty of free (mistake/remake) pizzas without ever feeling entitled to a tip. Was nice when I did get tipped, though.

The drives who had shitty attitudes about not getting tipped were honestly some of the most insufferable people to be around.

Neat. I delivered pizza for 4 years, two in highschool and two in college. I never, ever made that much. And I lived in Austin Texas delivering to the university of fucking texas. Nobody fucking tipped, and I made like $6 an hour because of that. AND had to pay my own gas on top of that.
