It's Atlus. Outside of P5 they usually hit release targets. Their typical pattern is "tease game->nothing for like, a year or two->announce game properly three months before release->release". Sometimes they don't even have that first step.
FeMC gets neglected, but she's still part of the successful P3 family.
P1 & P2 were locked up long ago and Philemon is too busy with the new kids to give a damn.

P3P is better both in terms of gameplay, pacing, and main character.

OP, you should maybe put "for Japan" in the title. Those who know will know but those who haven't kept up might be pissed when they find out this has even not been announced for localization yet.
Wait what story changes take place other than the FeMC specific ones, which imo make it worse than the male route.
This is pretty much all I could have asked for in the sequel, so day one fro sure whenever this gets localized.
How does being able to have social links with the guys in your party make it a worse story than P3?
Persona 3: Portable is my favorite Persona game, easily.

I'm gonna have to pass on this since my 3DS is dead. But seeing that FeMC is not is great news. She's my favourite Persona protagonist.
Some people are still burnt by not getting P2:EP's remake, which released toward the end of the PSP's life cycle and was never localized.

To each their own, but I'd give Male MC's S Links a B+ and FeMC's an A. At least she talked to her team mates.
Yeah I wasn't considering S.Links as story, in which case I would definitely give FeMC the edge.
I'm super glad about this, cause it would mean that we may hear more about other Persona related projects (or Catherine) after PQ2 finally comes out.
That and the fact that they remembered FeMC gives me a good feeling that they might give us a female option for Persona 5 Ruby/Crimson or Persona 3 Remake or whatever it is that they are working on next.
