K?
especially the little girl who isn't the annoying kawaii pipsqueaks we see in a ton of JRPG's.
I love that they kept the accents like in Dragon Quest 8 (I don't remember if 9 on the DS had voice acting or not, I don't believe it did...) Everyone is fairly talented and the characters (apart from the one ditzy older girl) are all enjoyable, especially the little girl who isn't the annoying kawaii pipsqueaks we see in a ton of JRPG's.
Like what?Voice acting sounds pretty good to me.
It's one of the only things they did right with the localization.
Too bad they fucked up just about every other aspect of bringing DQ to the west.......again.
I can't blame gamers for showing the same apathy towards DQ in the west that the game's own publisher shows, especially in the year 2018 where even the Yakuza team has gotten their shit together and is able to release their games worldwide in the same calendar year and match the level of commitment to the franchise in the west that their fans show it.
It's not just you. It's the worst possible release date for just about anyone with good taste in games.
1. I own every Yakuza game that has hit the west, and I am a big fan of the series, but Yakuza games, other than the first one, don't get dubs.I can't blame gamers for showing the same apathy towards DQ in the west that the game's own publisher shows, especially in the year 2018 where even the Yakuza team has gotten their shit together and is able to release their games worldwide in the same calendar year and match the level of commitment to the franchise in the west that their fans show it.

So true. The bigger your text is, the more it shows how you really feel.
That isn't on "Yakuza Team", they had not to do with the localization process or anything. That's on Sega of America and Atlus USA who made that effort. Here you want to talk to is Square Enix Europe, not the team in Japan.
It's not even up for debate. DQ is one of the most mishandled franchises in the industry.https://www.resetera.com/posts/11078259/
You''re correct. Should've said Yakuza games instead of Yakuza team. But that doesn't really effect the point I was making, which is that DQ and Yakuza were the last long running, big budget AAA Japanese franchises that were getting second class treatment in the west, and now that the Yakuza series has gotten with the times, only DQ remains. And I'd argue it's even more frustrating for DQ because the early Yakuza games all bombed in the west whereas DQ8 and 9 were actually successful, and then they did jack shit to capitalize on that success.

That cover is kinda spoilerish, isn't it? I just passed this event so I'm glad I'm seeing it for the first time today and not yesterday. Sometimes I don't get localization choices.
Well, they did jackshit to capitalize on that success is kind of a misconception. The remakes of Dragon Quest came for DS and 3DS after the release on Japan, Dragon Quest Heroes I and II came as well, just like DQ Builders. The only ones that never came were DQ Monsters because the first one on DS bombed and DQX which is a MMORPG
This is one of those things that means very little to you without context, so saying it's a spoiler is what ends up actually spoiling people. If nobody knows to pay attention to it, then they won't, and they won't think anything of it.
Cool, you aren't forced to have the main guy in your party. Each character has a niche and will be useful in battle, him included. You can freely swap party members in battle and all living members inactive or active gain experience. You will definitely find yourself using everyone, which I really liked.
Also cool, less grinding.
Prefer not to have that with DQ games though. It just always sounded weird to me to hear it in them.Sounds great a shame asshole Sugiyama wants to get money from concerts so we don't get a proper orchestrated soundtrack to go with it .
I'm about five hours in, and the VA performances have been really, really good IMO. I think y'all will settle in and end up liking them a lot.
Damnit I'm so excited about this. It looks so damn bright and chipper just what the world needs.
Why do you hate scrooge mcduck?Based on the trailer.
Jade = Sylvando > Serena = Veronica > Erik > Hero > old dude.
Have you messed around with the Draconian Quest options yet? If so, can you simply raise the overall encounter difficulty, but leave everything else the same as the default difficulty?
No I have not, and don't intend to until much later. I need to be pretty laser focused to even get a competent review in progress out by embargo. The game is obviously huge, and most of my day is spent writing and managing the site, not actually playing the games. I have to do that in my free time, so I'm just playing straight through (still poking around in every damn corner looking for items though).
If I mess around with any I'll let you know, but off the top of my head, I do believe that one of the options is to simply make encounters harder.
I'll check with PR and see if I can discuss those options in some detail. If so I'll report back.
+1. I heard the default difficulty is a bit on the easy side, even for DQ standards?that would be nice, i really want to see the new difficulty in action or at least preview....

I think Spider-Man will be a juggernaut that will hurt its sales.

They don't sound amazing but it's not HORRIBLE like I was expecting from some reactions in here, I can't wait for this game.
I also want to hear about the added difficulty modes and if it's just a toggle.
The first two Dragon Quest games actually came to Japanese computers, although obviously they never got localizations. Still it is a super exciting time for the series, hope this does well on all platforms!I'm only getting DQXI and I assume I'm not alone on this one, also on PC there's only one option so hopefully it does well there.
I need the Yakuza 0 effect with DQXI, first mainline game ever on Steam.
...especially the little girl who isn't the annoying kawaii pipsqueaks we see in a ton of JRPG's.
If anyone thinks that Veronica is just a usual JRPG moe loli, they will be ashamed of their words and deeds.
She's great.
I like how her design reminds me of older school lolis like Akazukin Chacha.
Just want to say DQVII is best in series, I hope XI just as long.
