You know what? I've decided. I'm going to buy this game on day one AND it will be the Poke Ball Bundle! And I WON'T choose Pikachu, I'll choose Eevee instead! Even though in my opinion having an Eevee that can't evolve is pointless...

I'm just a random user here so no one cares but I might as well say it somewhere.

If only to push a Johto remake.

I know that this is a dumb question but can you Choose Pikachu in Let's Go Eevee and vice versa?

This whole time I've been under the impression that starter Pikachu is locked to Let's Go Pikachu with wild Eevee's being out in Kanto somewhere and Starter Eevee is locked in Let's Go Eevee with Pikachu's out in the wild in Kanto.

Then I saw a 3rd Poké Ball and figure that you'll get a choice between your cover starter version and whatever was in that 3rd Poké in Oaks lab with the opposite cover starter going to your rival.

Huge new gameplay dump:

Hmm doesn't look too bad. I see that Brock's Pokémon have rock type moves, though I wonder what TM that he will give as a prize?

There it is

Can't even leave your fucking bedroom without someone running in and starting some unskippable dialogue cutscene bullshit

They probably thought the grass north of pallet was too far away and to difficult for newcomers to find without some help

Come on now, every Pokémon game since gen 2 had some form of cutscene either in the bedroom or after leaving it.

they gave Charmander early metal claw in firered/leafgreen.

Yeah you're mistaken if you think that was them trying to lower the difficulty down as Metal Claw is useless due to rock type having higher defenses oh and the fact that Brock's Pokémon actually have a rock type move that not only pack a punch but also lowers the Pokémon speed.

Giving Charmander metal claw simply isn't going to cut it.

Rumor Megas could be in Let's Go

So Alolan form and Megas, potentially, are allowed in the game but cross gen evolution for the gen 1 Pokémon aren't.

I don't get Game Freak's logic and more so for Megas as they are designed for the meta game rather than the single player mode.

? I could swear that your Mom stops you at some point before you truly leave Pallet town. And it's not like you can immediately leave either. You have to do the dumb cutscene where you have to drag your ass back to Oak's lab. At least some of the Gen III and gen IV games make this much faster than that. But that's beside the point. You are literally screaming about handholding about an...introductory cutscene. And then bragging about "in my day". Yeah, well I too played Red in my day. It was boring. And while I agree that the gym block is dumb, pretending that your way is the only way (I got a Butterfree so I guess I'm not as a manly man as you) is just as toxic.

Nope, Gen 1 is the only game in the entire series where you could actually get away in not talking to your mother. I mean it's rude but it's possible.

Gen 2 changed that and put in the moral message of;

"Hey kids be nice to your mother and say goodbye."

They even changed it in the gen 1 remake as the mother would send the player the running shoe as a present, which the player would get after defeating Brock.

What did Prof. Oak say when to the MC after he wandered into the tall grass?

He said;

"God damn I am too old for this gen 1 pandering nonsense." ;p

This game's audience arent the longtime fans.

Game Freak have stated many time that they are trying to aimed at both the causal and hardcore crowd but seemed to be doing a bad job of understand optional difficulty and respecting the players' skill set.

Man, having Pokemon in the overworld really does add a lot to make those environments pop out. Pre-ordered LG Pikachu because of Electric STAB and Snorlax (no doubles on type) but I have a feeling both Pikachu and Eevee are both gonna get an entirely brand new move to make them stand out even more, just speculation though.

Also here's my team because why not
Pikachu
Blastoise
Nidoking
Machamp
Alakazam
Snorlax

Yuuuup I guess Game Freak randomly gave Charmander a super effective move against rock types. /s I wrecked Brock's gym with that move.

Well then I guess you're a better Pokémon trainer than me as I have never won with Charmander solo.

I don't think that's a customization, I think it's the animation from the original yellow if player talked to Pikachu after fishing as he did the same thing.

Man watching that footage has made me really excited for the game now. I do agree that some of the decisions are dumb and silly but the game just looks so good that I'm willing to overlook it. The visuals, music, and animations just look so freaking slick the part where I just started to love this game is how it sold Onix being a goddamn behemoth compared to Pikachu. Considering Gamefreak at least attempts to make improvements from game to game in terms of presentation I am super eager for Gen 8/2019.

Also this might be me being a dumbass but is the game 60 frames? The youtube player has it at 1080 60 and the footage looks awfully smooth. Am I wrong or is it actually 60?

Diglett's Cave could use some work.
Diglett's Cave has always been a long empty hallway with no items or trainers. The layout really should have been redesigned to be more interesting for a game that lacks random encounters, but eh, gotta get those nostalgia bucks.

Also Golem rolling looks fantastic.

After rewatching some of the newer footage, I really wish the world was scaled up a bit in size. Everything feels tiny and overcrowded. Almost cluttered with the wild pokemon. I really like the idea of wild Pokemon being on the field but they need more space.

The running animations are present in the data of Sun and Moon, so we can see how they're all gonna look.

I really like how Shellder and Cloyster swim backwards like real scallops.

Rumor Megas could be in Let's Go

I hope it as true. I think it could appeal to Gen 1 fans. If anyone is old enough to remember back in the Gen 1 days of rumors of PokeGods which were rumored fourth evolutions for some Pokemon. For example, Charizard evolving into a PokeGod called Charkoal.

So Alolan form and Megas, potentially, are allowed in the game but cross gen evolution for the gen 1 Pokémon aren't.

I don't get Game Freak's logic and more so for Megas as they are designed for the meta game rather than the single player mode.

Yeah I dont understand that either. At the very least Gen 2 cross gen evos only. However, I suppose with Alolan versions and mega evolutions they can still advertise original 151 only.

Also agreed with long term fans in many senses. There has been more than enough evidence that there is a large young adult audience. Some of which bought the original games and continue to purchase Pokemon titles. I'd like to see GF try to make some appeals to this audience. Sun and Moon felt like 'My First Pokemon' and it was downright frustrating. Dont get me wrong, I felt the 3DS games actually introduced a lot of good ideas. I felt the games were a bit more rough and uneven but it made up with different and fun ideas. I feel the content and some of the things done in Gen 4 and 5 were amazing and I desperately want them to return. Fanbase wise, I feel that the DS games are very overated. While they had better world design, difficulty and post game content. I felt there was a lot of things that the 3DS titles did that made them more appealing and pushing boundaries.

My biggest takeaway from those companion videos is how surprisingly good the music is

Loving the updated arrangements

This is the best one

It's blowing people's mind how Venusaur moves

That's crazy, but given the way his leg joints are positioned it makes perfect sense.

And it just occurred to me, the Kanto starters are a turtle, a lizard, and a frog! They're the exact sort of animals a little boy would find when exploring, pick up, and try to make a pet.

The visuals are a little disappointing in the battle screen. Are these the updated 3DS models or completely remade?

My problem with the models is that there is no texture to them. The woods look the same as the flesh which looks the same as the metal.

Even with a cartoony game like Pokemon, they can spend more effort in differentiating materials

Of course they are the same models. They have been used in every game and 3D CG since 2013. They are very detailed and high quality (that's why the 3DS games had performance issues as GF didn't even bother to optimize the models).

Pokémon 2019 and every main Pokemon game in the near future will continue to use them.

caterpie being left behind makes me a bit sad. Maybe its because of how its described as being commonly killed by birds but its walking passed a few in the video.
I wish they didn't make them cute or personable so I didn't have to feel bad about caterpillars :(

Even though I always saw Venusaur as being based on a toad, it's still kinda crazy to see it hopping around like one.
I only realize now it looks like a frog. The name confused me so I saw him as a kind of dinosaur.

My biggest hope for this game is to receive updates like many Nintendo games do nowadays. Is the possibility of other gen pokemon being added later 100% ruled out?

They are pushing a new game out in 2019, don't expect any huge updates in terms of like new regions or new pokemon. They seem annoyingly dedicated to the original 151, even foregoing stuff everyone would like such as Espeon, Umbreon, Crobat, Elekid and more.

It's another reason why I think Go seems better value than this. Go is going to get updated for years to come, Sinnoh Update, Unova Update, Kalos Update, Alola Update and beyond. Let's Go is only going to get minor support when the 2019 games roll around (More-so if that's a new generation). Gonna make some people annoyed that they can't transfer from Let's Go to Go as they will probably be playing Go for longer.

I'm also still amazed they haven't confirmed Pokebank support yet. It's August now.

I was thinking that maybe because of Let's Go nature and differences they could follow a Pokemon Go approach and each year release some big expansion that adds stuff. It's a long shot, I wouldn't bet money on it but as I said different games so you never know...

The problem with Go is that you don't get attached to your Pokemon, you just constantly find new ones and keep those with strong IVs but it's not like you can really train them to be stronger.

I really hope Megas are in. It's the best new mechanic since abilities.

Let's Go probably won't have Pokébank support. All the 151 pokémon are in these games and anything else can't be imported. There's no use for Pokébank here, other than maybe "Man, I'd really like to bring that Charizard from X" which I don't think is their priority in this game. Plus, they will most likely force Pokéball Plus as the definitive only way to get a Mew. You won't even be able to transfer it from Go. So there's that.
