It's a fucking night and day difference, that first sip of ice cold coke out of a can on a hot day is so damn satisfying while out of a plastic bottle it's just alright I guess. Glass bottles are good too, but can is definitely the best. What do you guys think?

Also, drinking fountain soda sucks.

At least the fancy ass soda machine that can make a thousand flavors that we have at work tastes awful.

Maybe they don't clean them often enough...…..

Glass bottles > cans > plastic

But yeah it's a pretty surprising difference

Prefer glass, then cans, I do get the odd really bad can which doesn't happen with bottles for some reason.

It's sugary goop. The "taste" depends on the amount of bubbles in the liquid and I guess cans/bottles/glass retains different amount of them over time.

Now beer on the other hand... needs to come from a bottle and into a glass.

it's a shame it's so much cheaper to get large plastic bottles of coke which is why I always buy one bottle and one can and then always fill up the can lol but it's still not quite as good as if it came from the can.

I don't agree, I prefer fountain coke (not that Coca Cola freestyle machine bullshit though, shit sucks). But with Pepsi, I like it from the can, poured in a glass with 6 ice cubes. Tastes delicious that way.

I love fountain soda so much more than the others. But I agree, I hate the all in one machine... machines. Definitely have a different taste.

I dunno maybe the McDonald's Coke is different in the US but in Austria it's quite watery.

I'd say it's quite watered down taste in Finland too. Doesn't even need to be at McDonald's, it's the same with the local burger chain Hesburger. So I always take mine without ice, though I usually don't take the soda at all and just buy a burger instead of meal.

Personally I found that drinking it out of the glass bottle is the best way to taste coke.

What you on about.

Glass > from the fountain in whatever like paper cup > Can > plastic bottle

Sweden
Sweden has different sizes of plastic containers and they all taste very different as well. Canned coke is near the top but 0.5L, 1L, 1.5L and 2L cokes are quite unique too. Even the plastic is different in style and thickness which seems to have an effect. Imo 1.5L is the default taste while 2L is much sweeter (if the batch is good). 0.5L is probably the strongest in terms of carbonation. 1L is extremely rare but is like pure nectar when you find it.

Most Swedes swear by the glass bottles too but they are a mixed bag qualitywise.

Glass bottle is great. Cans are good.

Nothing on Earth beats a come from McDonalds though and I haven't the slightest idea why.

McDonalds fountain Coke is the GOAT.

Yeah it's weird. I feel the same way about other sodas as well. It's like the plastic does something to the flavor.

Glad to see some Coke Freestyle hate. I'm kind of surprised Coke even allowed that to be greenlit. Definitely inferior to traditional fountain drinks.

McDonalds coke is better because they have a nicer system for delivery and storage than your average fast food restaraunt. This may only apply to the US, so international McDonalds I have no idea.

1. McDonalds gets coke delviered in stainless steel containers instead of the plastic bags most places get
2. McDonalds uses water filtration to ensure clean water, while some places just use the tap water
3. McDonalds has as system that keeps the syrup, and coke chilled at all times, even while in the lines between the storage and the fountain machine. A system like this is likely expensive and not something most restaurants would install.
4. IIRC they also have a more foolproof system to make sure the syurp ratio is correctly mixed, where some places just have a worker doing it manually.

Anyway, it really does seem to be consistently good in the US.

However, the new Freestyle machines found many places also seem quite good.
