Perhaps the most damning piece of information from McMurphy's report is an exchange between Courtney and Lindsey Voltolini in the weeks following the 2015 incident. Lindsey's husband Brian Voltolini is "considered one of Meyer's most loyal staff members," according to McMurphy.

Courtney: "[Zach's] trying to make me look crazy bc that's what Shelley is saying [he's doing]"
Lindsey: "[Urban] just said [Zach] denied everything"
Courtney: "I hope urban is smarter than that"
Lindsey: "[Urban] doesn't know what to think"
Courtney: "I don't really care. Ya know"
Lindsey: "Yeah, don't worry about urb"

More here and at Brett McMurphy's Facebook page. On a related note, Brett will be working for Stadium this fall, so good for him. He's one of the best in the business as this news shows.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE

Several current University of Maryland football players and people close to the Terrapins program describe a toxic coaching culture under head coach DJ Durkin before offensive lineman Jordan McNair's death in June after a football workout.

McNair, who was 19, died two weeks after being hospitalized following a May 29 team workout. He collapsed after running 110-yard sprints, showing signs of extreme exhaustion and difficulty standing upright. No official cause of death has been released, but ESPN reported Friday that he died of heatstroke suffered during the workout and had a body temperature of 106 degrees after being taken to a hospital.

So, the B1G East is a cluster. This thread will serve as a bit more serious transition until the first real Thursday of games August 30. Schedule for "week 0" and 1 is here. Annual conference/playoff winners pick'em will be up within the next week, and whenever the AP bothers to release the preseason top 25 it will be added as well.

Bill Connelly's 130 team previews are here, and well worth the read.

Also worth noting on the conference picks, the G5 questions i left as optional as I know some people dont know a lot about them

Pick 'em Stuff (Week 0 is optional and will not count):

Week 0 games:
DUQ@UMASS
PVAM@RICE
HAW@CSU
WYO@NMSU

My program has a few kinks when generating a Week number less than 1, which put out this kinda funny result.

From previous thread:
We didn't take into account Joe Bauserman and having some of our best players being suspended. Posey missed a ton of games. I also think the coordinator situation is a bit better.

That 2011 roster was a mess. Ohio stats recruiting and coaching staff is in a much better place now

Yeah that may be true, but the timing this time is far worse. I'm just saying the floor for this season is not 9-3, that's probably the ceiling for OSU this year.

One of the UGA bloggers I follow has been a lawyer now for like 40 years and after seeing everything that's out, he agrees that it looks like they're looking into terms of a settlement.

If only we had a small town pizza lawyer that could chime in here.

I wish we could ban all of twitter. It's like the best and worst of the internet balled together in a horrid mass of self loathing and dunking on people.

I'm just bringing it up because we all quote a lot of tweets. I stopped using twitter last week. I don't mind the embedded tweets but geeze the comments on some of them. God help these people.

I know Bama fans would be apoplectic if something like his happened with Saban, but I would still want the same outcome. It would hurt and suck but I'd find a way to embrace the Joey Freshwater era

I think you mean the Dabo era. I agree that there would unfortunately be a ton of Alabama fans who would be apologetic or try and defend Saban. Although I don't think that's something that would ever realistically happen. Saban has always seemed to have a good sense of morality around him.

Not happy how you guys are killing it on the recruiting trail, but am happy that you'll be killing the Gatas on the field

FSU's doing all right in recruiting as well. Pretty happy how recruiting is going now. Richt always pulled an average of about 7th ranked class, so Kirby getting it up to top 3 is nice. Spending $100 million in last two years on facilities, winning the SEC, and winning the Rose Bowl definitely helps.

More spending next off-season from what the beat writers are saying. New weight room, nutrition center, offices combo thing most likely.

Let's be real about fans, we'll defend our own schools while castigating another for the same thing. That's just the nature of fandom. I'm not saying it's right, sometimes fandom clouds your judgment and you can be in denial about something that's plain to see for anyone not attached to the situation. Hell, that goes for relationships too.

Let's also be real, it's hard to tell about any coach. There are a few that I would think would never do this. Richt is one.

Lot of positive news for the '19 season at A&M, but this year is going to stink. 6-6 seems realistic, anything better will require other teams to completely implode down the stretch (looking at you, LSU and Ole Miss).

I don't think there's any reason y'all shouldn't beat LSU or Ole Miss this year.

Again, makes no sense. Michigan last year was expected to win 7-9 games last year, they won 8. One season in a known down year where the one known quantity(QB) goes down early, does not show shit.

I mean, he's not just looking at y'all. Pedo State is looking to be pretty good this year.

So who should be the next HC of tOSU and why is Les Miles the man for the job?

Friendly reminder to Ohio St. that Les Miles is available and college football deserves Miles vs Harbaugh and they should make that happen at all costs.

Damn, I just thought about the ether that was SVP having Brett McMurphy on his show. Respect.

Uh, am I crazy, or does this give OSU an out here? McMurphy says he's got direct evidence that Shelly knew, but no direct messages that Urban knew. He's (rightfully) making the assumption that they're married, so obviously he would know, but it doesn't look like he doesn't have any direct proof.

Lacking that, what can OSU realistically do here? If anything, it looks like they can throw Shelly under the bus for Title 9 violations, but that would be a bad look. I would also make the assumption that OSU likely knows more than what McMurphy has reported, but if those details are the entire story, I could see this ending less with a separation, and more with a suspension.

Am I missing holes in the story here?

There wasn't much reason to lose to them, especially ole miss, for the last few years, but we usually find a way.

I wonder how many QBs padded their 4th Q comeback stats against us. Shea Patterson never looked so good.

Meyer may be legally okay if there aren't texts from him, though the administration there would have access to those if they existed. The question is not really what can be proven, it's what is likely that he knew.

To let him off on a technicality requires a lot of mental gymnastics to assume that all of these texts with his wife and with the wife of the director of football operations never made their way back to him. Especially after him saying how close he is with his wife of 29 years, and how they tell each other everything. And how she said she'd tell him. And how the wife of the football director said that Urban looked into and spoke with Zach and believed him, so he didn't know what to do.

I do think they have an out but I am not sure OSU would even want to use it. They may just let Meyer go out of image of the University. I do however think we will really know more after the Smith's get in court on Friday.

Reports came out a week or so ago that a team in Italy was interested in hiring him but I assumed there would be no interest from the Briles side. Guess I was wrong.

Says he won't be moving over until October and the season doesn't start until March so I guess he can keep being a secret coach for Houston for a few months.

This is not going to be a good media day for The Ohio State University Buckeye football program. This video piece looks like it's going to be hard hitting when it releases

It's frustrating feeling that this kind of stuff is happening at every major program. It really feels more like a "when" rather than an "if".

Really makes it hard to lean in with fandom these days.
