Nothing wrong with microwaving hot dogs. they get a fun texture and flavor on the casing that way.

Boiling them, though? Ugh.

I read the title as, "My wife is bringing a crackpot to work to make hotdogs." Disappointed.gif

Heat water to boiling in microwave, pour in crockpot set to high. Add hotdogs.

I would be pretty happy if a coworker brought a crockpot full of hotdogs in to my office tomorrow.

are people just joking about the microwaved hot dogs being good because of the water thread?

100% crock pot. Kids are impatient jerks. With a crock you can get them all hot and ready at the same time.

There's a lot of ignorance in this thread. This is fairly common since hot dogs are cheap and can cook in a crockpot easily. No, you don't add water into the pot. They taste better than microwaving them.

So many hot takes in 2018 when people can just Google or YouTube things you don't know about instead of commenting and looking foolish.

Wait, why wouldn't she just...steam them? You have an electric kettle? Easy to bring around and very cheap for its usage.

Crock Pot is fine. I would personally just grill them at home and transport them in a crock-pot to keep them warm at work.

As someone who has microwaved my fair share of hotdogs due to lazyness microwaved hot dogs taste really bad compared to just boiling them.
I was about to say "Microwaving hot dogs isn't lazy; I eat them straight out of the wrapper when I'm too lazy to heat them." I decided to Google eating hot dogs out of the package and I see that it is recommended to always heat them because even though they are pre-cooked, they can pick up listeria at the factory. So I guess I shouldn't advocate eating cold hot dogs.

Pour some Bushes baked beans and some brown sugar in with the Beef Hot Dogs and we are rock in and rolling.

i often make lazy chili dogs this way in a crockpot

big ol can of baked beans
can of chili beans
2x can of spicy pasta sauce or homemade, your choice
2 packs of hot dogs

can add some precooked ground meat if you want to for more filler, but not required

Tell her to grab some salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder, paprika, and a baking sheet. Lay hot dogs out on sheet, sprinkle with seasoning, and then toss into an oven.

She'll thank me later.
