Summary: (Boldfaced text is the new information from the old news 2 months ago.)

The exercise game, which comes from Imagineer, will build on the success that the Japanese developer's Shape Boxing series saw on Wii, which went on to sell more than 800,000 copies worldwide.

Holding a Joy-Con in each hand, an in-game instructor will guide you through a full-scale boxing program – letting you train safely and effectively at home while burning calories at the same time.

As Wii Fit had once achieved, and as the interactive build-and-play Nintendo Labo kits are now doing, Fitness Boxing continues Nintendo's efforts to broaden the appeal around the console.

Fitness Boxing will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch in Europe and North America in Winter.

Looks like it's going to be the spiritual successor to the Shape Boxing series.

I like how this was randomly revealed in the earnings release.

Anyway, interesting how Kimishima said before they would have "Labo-like" products but for other demographics. This is it for a more casual adult one.

Megaton!

I liked using ARMS as an exercise game, and punching a lot. So making the fitness the actual game intrigues me.

Only Japan was announced to have a release timing (range? season?) of Winter, but at the time, North America and Europe aren't even known to be receiving a localization from Nintendo. But now, we do, and the game will be released in all 3 regions in Winter.

EDIT:

Oh, now you've mentioned it, I made a mistake in the title. It should say, "Fitness Boxing will be released in all 3 regions" or something.

As someone who uses boxing apps for cardio, boxing as cardio without a heavy bag just fucking sucks.

Sorry for the bump, but after seeing this game pop up on Twitter and my Switch, I wanted to do some investigating. After learning that it was being published by Nintendo, I wanted to see what ResetEra had said about it and found this thread.

Prior to a few minutes ago, I had no idea Nintendo was publishing this game or that it was even connected to Nintendo. I don't think I was even aware it existed before I began recently seeing info pop up about the demo. So I guess Nintendo is publishing two games in January for Switch? I feel like this game came out of nowhere.

Bring back Wii Fit Nintendo! Brand it as something else, Switch 'n Fit! I don't know! Seriously though, I can't see fitness games the same without Wii Fit. I'll try the demo this weekend.

I was interested until I saw the price (UK). Especially when you look at what Xbox Fitness used to offer with the Kinect on Xbox One.

I tried the demo and it felt like a seriously good workout. Its also presented in a fun way and the motion controls seem to work great. Dont know if this will sell well but it sure is fun to show it off to people.

Totally missed this, i didn't know it was published by Nintendo. I guess this is a sort of Wii Fit replacement.

I'm downloading the demo now.

So I picked up this game and am really enjoying it for what it is. I'm not going to outright replace my gymming with it but think it's a good companion to it and with how portable the switch is it actually also makes for a nice cardio exercise when I'm out of town. Now I just need to make sure I actually pace myself lol
