So, 15 minutes of the Nintendo podcast to talk about a game not coming to switch is weird... But that's Damiani's podcast, so ok I guess.

15 minutes to talk about something Huber has already talked about and will talk about for several hours. Like geez

I didn't really get the justification for no patron questions on Friend Code. Also the RE2 Remake stuff. Jolly vibes though, jolly vibes.

Having said that, I really enjoyed watching Damiani play Hollow Knight on VOD. That man is a machine. No way could I play that game for 10 hours straight and have twitch reflexes ready to go for that final section.
I share this sentiment. Honestly felt like a "I don't want to put any effort in it" episode, even if I'm sure that wasn't the intention. Talking about Re:make 2 on what is specifically pitched to your audience as a Nintendo podcast makes no sense any way you slice it; it muddies the waters and will make some people question why they even watch the show in first place. Having episodes about something else instead of news, when there are no actual news, would be better IMHO. They can have speculations about the future, deep dives into a particular Nintendo series, or as I said many times before, episodes tackling particular themes, historical figures or events regarding Nintendo. Imagine Gamexplain doing a 15 minute video about Re:make 2, right after E3, you'd think they went crazy.

ha ha, but seriously, when the first sign of charges is some inexplicable $2000 drop, I'm glad I put out a reminder. Pretty much have to remind myself to just walk away and not look at it until the 2nd.
I know you didnt used to talk about the exact amount that arrived on the 5th/6th, however last month you did. Will this month's amount also be revealed or not?

It'd be nice if their Top 10 lists came with captions stating the name of the game and the character. I have absolutely no idea who number 10 is or where he's from. Don't think Jones even mentioned the title of the game.

Yeah, I agree that the gametitle would be a good idea.
I did like the top 10, it was a fun watch, but it would have been nice to have some extra info on the game they were from in text.
I recognized most of them, but I still think it would have been a nice extra layer of polish.

Some fun group streams planned this month (and Easy Livin', baby!), but I'm really hoping for another Don's Design Lab in September. It's one of the most unique and enjoyable concepts for a stream/show I've ever seen. Mario Maker in particular is a game I just immediately associate with the Allies because of all the great stuff they have done with it.

Yeah for the studio goal in particular, we need to keep people in the loop. I don't know if Jones will share the exact amount, but we'll at least state whether it's over/under $50k.

Yeah. It was kinda bizarre.

Sometimes I think it would be nice to see podcast hosts shuffle every now and then to keep things fresh. Like when I think Nintendo, I think Bosman, so I wonder what his version of Friend Code would be like. Or what Damiani might do on Reaction Shots. Or Brandon on Frame Trap.

I know it's not a realistic possibility with the varying pay and responsibilities each of the allies hold, but hey....still think it would be really neat. Maybe even as a one-of crossover special.

Yeah, echoing this. Of all the things to focus 15 minutes on in a Nintendo podcast, Resident Evil 2 should've been near the very bottom of the list. I dont mind doing something a bit different if there's a slow couple of news weeks, but at least make it on-topic to the podcast.

A cross over ala final bosman/huber hype has a lot of potential for lols. I do think that the hosts do define what the shows are and while kyle might make hosting the podcast look easy I dont think anyone could do it with the finesse he has, same with ben and his insightfulness for frametrap and damiani with his knowledge of nintendo. I can't speak to reaction shots since I dont watch.

Yup, plus what would Cup of Jones be without Jones? Cup? But crossing the streams could be fun once in a while. I really enjoy the special event stuff, for instance, Noodles and Broth on Frame Trap. I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time.

Apologies if I just missed it, but has there been an EZA Clips Show this week? I need to see those specks again...

Hah, I feel like Ben is working through his spider fears by creating a freaky growing spider creature. And of course Pomper would try to recruit it xp
Oh right, thanks, never sure what day it is scheduled to hit on.
Each Clips episode has covered a week (starting from a Monday), and it's usually posted the following Monday (though sometimes it's late). Last week was the charity stream, which probably generated a ton of clips compared to a normal week, so I'm guessing it's taking a lot longer to sort through and edit.

Ian forgot to turn the salad mic on for the podcast.

Blood accurately standing up for GT Sport v Forza 7 made up for it.

EDIT: Ian found the power button for the mic!

I was always a big GT fan, but I played Forza from Forza 2 and imo Forza had the same quality in a racegame than GT from Forza 3 on and IMO they surpassed GT from Forza 4.
I haven't played GT since GT 5 (I already gave my PS3 to my sister when GT 6 came out (why did they release this after the PS4 came out?)), but their AI was worse than Forza for sure (it seemed they were driving on rails imo).

I never bought GT Sport because I usually like to play my racing games in single player. Is it worth to get for the single player only? I now it's in a sale now.
That said, because of how they have flooded the Playstation store this night with cars to buy (ranging from 1 euro to 2.5 euro per car and at least 100 cars on there), I am even less tempted to buy it even for the low price it's going for at the moment.

I think they screwed up the series for me with GT Sport to be honest. I am sure it's a good game and that the attention to detail is second to none for a console racer, but I probably have enough racing game with my yearly Forza.

GT 4 is my favorite GT game, I really felt like GT 5 was a big step back (for Forza it's either Forza 4 or Forza Horizon 3 even though I usually am not the biggest fan of open world racers, but I really enjoy the FH series for some reason).

I dropped Forza 7 once GT came out. Sitting there with a wheel and sim racing those cars is second to none.

That said, the F1 games career mode is what keeps me coming back for track racers. Forza Horizon is such a fun experience though.

I'll buy GT Sport as this sale is a really good price for a racing game.

I do still prefer the Xbox One controller over the PS4 controller by a large margin though (for racing games, not for other games).
I have decided to play all my non-exclusive racing games on Xbox some time ago because of the triggers on the Xbox One controller.

I always felt I missed some control on the PS4 controller. I have played Driveclub, Project Cars and Dirt Rally on the PS4, which went ok, but I missed some control on Trackmania Turbo and especially on Trials Fusion. I completed Trials with not too much problems, but I always felt like you had to press the triggers of the PS4 controller half in before it registered properly which makes it much more difficult to control compared to the Xbox 360 (where I played the previous Trials games) especially on hard/expert tracks.

But I will give GT Sport a shot if I find the time for it.

Yeah, I prefer my Elite controller too. But my steering wheel is PS4/PC, so I'm getting the best of both worlds there.

And Dirt Rally in PSVR without the comfort aids on is a fun trip if you can handle it. I don't feel sick rolling down a hill in Dirt, but playing Trackmania normally I do.

Thus has very little to do with the conversation you guys are having but I haven't played a racing games in more than a decade at this point (not counting Mario kart) but I'm super excited to play FH4. I miss when racing games used to just be dumb fun (shout out to NFS: underground and burnout: revenge) and everything about FH4 seems like such a jolly time.

Honestly, my only complaint with Forza Horizon 3 was that I wasn't a huge fan of the setting. Between that and 60fps on One X for console owners, it should be a great time.

Very much on board with your thoughts on the Xbox vs PS4 controller for racers. You may have noticed, but I tend to request Xbox versions for racing game reviews. That said, while I've preferred Forza overall since FM3 or so, I've felt like it's been kind of inconsistent since FM5 and really felt like they've been struggling with the overall vision for the series. FM7 in particular really went off the rails with the whole card / lootbox setup, and even though I'm not typically a big online player, I felt like GT Sport was just much better at teaching you to be a better driver, which Forza 7 just didn't seem to care about anymore.

Is Kyle still doing his Rayon Riddles platinum rush stream tonight at midnight? I thought I remembered him talking about it but I don't see it on their schedule. Not that I'll be up at that hour but I can't wait to watch it.

There is a pretty interesting thread over in Etcetera regarding Patreon and how easy it is to game the system. It looks like Up Front payment is an option for creators (unclear exactly when this was introduced). Is there any reason why EZA chooses the traditional structure over the Pay Up Front option? It looks like once you switch it is a permanent change for the creator, so if they did make the move there's no going back.

EDIT: I guess I should say, "Do they currently use this option?" - it's been a little while since I've changed my pledge, and I remember people bringing this up in the past.

We were just made aware that pay up front is an option for us the other day. After looking it over, it's not likely that we'll be switching over anytime soon. The main sticking point is that it doesn't renew on a monthly anniversary date like Twitch, Adobe, or most monthly charges. Instead, if you pledge $50 on the 31st, you'll get charged the next $50 on the 1st. For us, that just sounds like a bad deal that could rub new patrons the wrong way, make them feel like they were ripped off, or make them decide to wait until the next month only to forget about it later.

We haven't seen a huge number of people trying to game the system, and for the big tiers like sponsorship, we wait until payment goes through anyways. So unless that becomes a huge problem, we'll carry that risk rather than alienating people with the charge up front system, particularly since we can't change back if people hate it.

They don't use this option and I don't like it at all. Once you pledge, you then get charged on the first of the month even if you first payment was on the 31st. They might as well wait for the 1st anyway.

From what Blood says, they have very little in terms of drops from that easy fraud anyway, so probably no reason to.

EDIT: Blood beat me!

Huh, I was wondering about the large number of drops this month but it looks like it's a systemic technical issue (h/t this post)

It's annoying though because it looks like EZA will have to contact the declined patrons themselves. Do those patrons still get email messages from Patreon? Might be worth sending out a reminder to everyone so they can check their status. Edit: nevermind, per the Twitter thread, it looks like Patreon will be sending notices to those individuals.

There's gotta be a way or tool to see repetitive accounts resubbing/unsubbing at the last minute no? Even if not huge numbers, it still sucks that people might wanna do this. Is there a ban system on Patreon?

(I'm still wondering if that's what happened with Trillhouse...)
