Man those things look GREAT. But honestly, I can't imagine any of them being better than this:
wii-classic-controller-pro-big.jpg

I had that relaiziation on the NES Classic. It's nostaglia and fun to play on those old school controllers, but the Wii Pro is seriously the best D-Pad centric controller out there. Everything about it is perfect if you're looking for a D-Pad focused controller.

I guess the pro about the top 3 pro style controllers is that they have the Share button and Switch features. But until someone tells me that the D-Pad is top notch, I'm going to stick with the Wii Classic.

... Also, do you need the blue tooth adapter to use those 8bitdo controllers, or does it just connect like a Pro without extra hardware/
All 8bitdo will connect natively to Switch as easily as the official Pro controller, no extra hardware required.

For the Classic Mini consoles you do need the $12 8bitdo wireless adapter. That also works on a Wii Remote with a Wii or Wii U, so you could leave the Wii Remote anywhere.

Yes. It's excellent, known fact at this point. The combat system is something unique. If the visual style appeals to you (16-bit Phantasy Star/Chrono Trigger aethestic) then go ALL IN on Cosmic Star.

You're never going to buy as good of a "JRPG" for $13.50 on the eShop. It's unreasonably priced. I would say paying $40 is fair for this quality game.

One hour of Switch footage in the July eShop thread:

Thank you, going to watch it now.

This is old news and we have a thread, but with Sega Ages dropping soon I feel like it's a good time to express my fervent desire for the new 8bitdo controllers.

Specifically the Game Boy-themed SN30+, which even has the ridged D-Pad

These are gonna be great, but I find it slightly strange how the PAL SNES-based controller seems to be designed more around the console itself rather than the controller with its colored buttons.

It doesn't look bad, but the older handle-less SF30 Pro looks better.

Dayum! Flipping Death next week?

Gonna have to wait. I've blown my budget (and then some) already, but I'm really hyped. Absolutely loved Stick it to the man.

That's cool. I'd buy those if I didn't already pay big $$$ for the Switch Pro. I need to attempt the D-Pad fix on mine.

I'm just a sucker for these 8bitdo pads. They're very collectable.

This one is the best:

Adorable.

lol that's great! I just use my Switch Pro on my Mac for gaming as well. I wonder how the D-Pad is on these 8bitdo pads. I hear conflicting reports of people loving or hating them. I don't know what to believe, I guess I need to order one for myself!

And...done. Thanks for the heads up!

Man, I would buy almost anything/everything if they offered preorder discounts. That small 10% off (or in Dead Cell's case: 20% off) is like all that I need to push me from "Ummm... I'll buy it later" to "Okay I'm taking a risk and pre-ordering this!".

Of course, it helps that games like Dead Cells, Patobox, and Cosmic Star have proven track records on their quality so there isn't much risk in buying before release.

Maybe it's a lottery, maybe it's the model, but my SNES30 D-Pad is great, IMO.

It's an increadibly faithful reproduction. I have a real SNES pad to compare it to and all the components and build quality feels lile the original but newer on the 8bitdo.

Just to hop on the discussion from earlier and speaking from experience; spending money you don't really want to with the hope that it means better support down the line never works out.

Truly, we are living in the golden age of quality Switch software. Cherish this moment, my friends.

I mean looking at the trailer the game looks juvenile but fairly competent.

Except for the part where he clips through the ceiling. Im also surprised at how similar the character resembles Mario on the eshop image.

Damn that looks too good. Nintendo should sue their ass for making a 1:1 replica!

I know we wont know til the 7th but whats everyone's guess as to how the Dead Cells port will turn out?

I have the the game on PC but would rather play it on portable, but I really cant see the switch port having a consistent smooth (60fps) framerate but if it does, without sacrificing too many visuals then I will be shocked.

Overcooked 2! Oh boy! My wife and I love the first game. It kicks our ass in the later stages so I'll have to see how difficult OC2 is.

Video embargo for Dead Cells lifts on Friday.

Thanks for the heads-up! I often sit on it, then I think it might be discounted the day...of...release, and lose that magical motivator of the pre-order discount.

What the hell is that ?

Possibly brilliance. Most likely horrible rubbish....

1979 and Salt & Sanctuary are up in Europe already.

Is 1979 solid? I need to look up some reviews, as I remember it coming out awhile back last year, and thinking it looked unique.

I already pre-ordered OverCoooked 2! but I am curious about its performance. Overcooked 1 was 30 FPS but with some drops, they later patched and smoothed it out a bit. I'm curious if OC2 will have the same "issues" (I played through the entire of OC1 pre-patch and it was playable to me, but I noticed the frame hitches, but also, didn't bother me)

So yeah, I wonder the same about Dead Cells. I AM going to pre-order it and play it even if it's not 100%. But I am only mildly concerned that the game is so bad that even reviewers would say to not buy because it's so bad.

I'd like to know too. The only thing keeping me back is that it seems it lasts just 2 hours?
yeah, that seems to be the case: https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=36527

user reviews are equally positive

so, game = good :)

do you have any particular questions that people might be able to answer?

TheMoon I appreciate what was discussed in last months thread about English not being your native language. I really admire your grasp of the language and this come from someone who can't speak or write another language, so please don't take this as me putting you down but some of your posts are just way too direct and come across as rude, at least to myself.

The other poster was asking if anyone had played Salt and Sanctuary and I'm sure he knows how to find metacritic and look up reviews for the game. I sometimes find it more useful to hear what the everyday person has to say about a game. Someone who has spent their hard earned money and free time on a game. Those insights can be a very useful tool in the decision of purchasing of not purchasing a game.

I genuinely mean this with love but as my mother says, if you haven't got anything nice to say (or in this instance anything useful to say to the person wanting some info), just don't say anything at all.

That's tomorrow right, all these releases got me fucked up on what's coming out when.

Yeah, the 2nd. I'd love for a midnight launch but i'm sure that isn't happening. I was just wondering if the switch had a default "games are up!" time or if it is just whenever someone pushes a button.

I ordered that model in the gold Famicom colors and wasn't a fan. D-pad an buttons just didn't feel that good, like a cheapish mobile phone controller I used to have.

Maybe they've improved them in their more current models (like the ones with larger sticks and grips), but that particular one I got wasn't very good, which is a shame because I LOVE the look of it.
