How do you save? I played for 90 mins, went back to the main menu and there's no option to continue, just New Game.

Lol. You need to use the phone booths to save. Weird that the game gives you an excuse to go to one but does not tell you what its purpose is.How do you save? I played for 90 mins, went back to the main menu and there's no option to continue, just New Game.

Are there any big mistakes I should avoid making?
There is no autosave! You must use phone booths around town to save, so be mindful of this.
You should also save before substories if you want the best possible outcome. You can't fail any of them, but it's possible to receive differing rewards.
Thanks I did that but it doesn't seem to work even in full screen. I'll restart my computer and see what happens next

Go to them and they'll allow you to save.
Oh dear, I wish the game had told me that lolLol. You need to use the phone booths to save. Weird that the game gives you an excuse to go to one but does not tell you what its purpose is.
It does though, there's a moment where you can't proceed unless you save.
Perhaps I was on the cusp of receiving that info... just about to get in the car with Nishikiyama and been to three phoneboothes already for story reasons. It does though, there's a moment where you can't proceed unless you save.

Oh well, off to bed and I'll have another run tomorrow.

Yup. Man, playing this at 3440x1440 is utterly insane. For a late PS3 game, it looks gorgeous.Well there it is. Fairly certain its already outsold (or close to outselling) the Wii U ports of Yakuza 1 and 2 (ok, low bar). Hopefully this means the game has sold well enough to get the rest of the series on Steam eventually.
Unfortunately there is no option to disable Depth of Field, and it seems to not be a very high quality DoF setting either at 4k as it can often look pixelated. Not surprising as it was most likely made for a lower resolution. It's bothering me, hopefully a tweak can be found to disable it.

Makes me wonder how 6 and Kiwami 2 would look on PC, really hope this and Kiwami sell well to justify SEGA bringing them over to PC.
That doesn't seem too bad actually considering it's a fairly niche game.
anyone else having problems using a controller? i've tried other games and it works fine, but my ps4 controller isn't being recognized
I have to admit though, the 21:9 implementation is god awful. It's Vert- instead of Hor+ which is weird considering that SEGA's twitter showed off 21:9 with Hor+.
It's not you, I'm getting the same issue. It's weird because v-sync is on and the in-game frame rate monitor is showing that it never dips below 65 FPS (hovers around 75 for the most part) so I don't know what the issue is.the game freeze/stutter like crazy to me, cant tell its the game issue or my pc :(
I have got similar problems, with 3570K, 16GB RAM, GTX970. Tried turning down shadows and locking to 60 fps but not much improvement.I unfortunately got some audio crackling and what seems like frame pacing issues, but the worst is random one/two second stutters, I especially got several when I was first checking out the upgrade menu during the tutorial. Fucking bizarre.
I'm getting some freezing at random and some stuttering during cut-scenes. I think it's the game since the framerate counter doesn't drop from 60fps.the game freeze/stutter like crazy to me, cant tell its the game issue or my pc :(
Gtx970/i5-3570 reporting here - 60 fps locked at 1080p with ultra settings and 2xSSAA.
from the way you sounds its just few in-between? in my case quite frankly reaching unplayable territory :(I'm getting some freezing at random and some stuttering during cut-scenes. I think it's the game since the framerate counter doesn't drop from 60fps.
The combat is only stale if you make it out to be. It can be a satisfying and rewarding experience if you are creative and actually go out and upgrade your abilities. The game has enough styles to keep combat interesting, provided you don't get comfortable with a single style. At work. Pumped to play as soon as I get home.
Anyone have insight on whether I should start a new game on normal or hard? I've browsed some reviews (Playstation ones at the time) and some state combat can get a bit too easy. Though on the other hand, I hate HP sponges. Am I better off just starting on normal?
Enemies don't become HP sponges, they just become more aggressive and the heat moves don't do as much damage. I'd recommend starting with Hard and if you don't like it, drop it down to Medium. There's no achievement tied to game difficulty with the exception of playing the game on legend difficulty but you have to end the game once to unlock it anyway. At work. Also, there's an item that allows you to cancel a hit into another style and another that drastically reduces the amount of "in-game time" it takes to change stances allowing you to out manuever the enemy and pull off some sick looking stuff. The combat is only stale if you make it out to be. To answer your question, yes you should start on normal.
That sucks. Yeah I've only got some. Still annoying thought. When it comes to PC ports of Japanese games, it's always a lottery.from the way you sounds its just few in-between? in my case quite frankly reaching unplayable territory :(
It doesn't work if you have another controller plugged in. Like a fightstick or a steering wheel
