Watching MSNBC right now, they are saying the president has been successful in creating Mueller fatigue.

Why the fuck are they saying that?

Fatigue of what? It isn't a movie or tv show, it's a criminal investigation. They shouldn't be judged on ratings

Because they love controversial narratives and drama because it boost their ratings. They're useless.

Unfortunately the polls reflect that. Its less the media buying into Trumps narrative, and more so that narrative working on the American populace, and the media reporting such.

Not like "Mueller fatigue" really means anything, its a criminal investigation.

Don't worry they'll move onto the next blunder by Trump or one of his cronies in like a day.

Controversial media = ratings.

So few people on cable news actually care about delivering actual news now.

It's such a bummer.

If a news station went HAM and really stood up to this dude, wouldn't THAT get ratings?

I am so sick of news stations saying, "We stand with so-and-so in light of Trump's attack on the press" and then they don't do anything to back it up.

Boise Area, Idaho
they are delivering to the American public as a whole a product that they want. The real question should be why are so many people watching their nonsense still? You are clearly disgusted by MSNBC's reporting, so why not tune out?

Would that narrative even manage to spread were it not for the media chasing ratings? That sounds like a snake eating its tail.

I'd be curious to see the polls if anyone has them on hand.

It seems more like general fatigue with everything, in addition to the political machine that runs almost constantly with all the voting, etc. . I mean, presidential campaigns last like, what, 2 years? Not Trump is even campaigning while he is in office, eventually you just get tired.
Personally I don't read a lot of Trump threads anymore because it is more of the same and it just gets boring.

I think there's polling that backs up Mueller fatigue?

It's not actually that surprising; Republicans obviously just want it to go away, where Democrats are frustrated that it hasn't wrapped up quickly enough, creating a universal fatigue (even if the reasons are opposite).

Trump ratings circus.

And shockingly enough the media often isn't an accurate portrayal of any situation. Ask 100 people a question and air the 1 that gives the quote you want that furthers your story.

They want "access." "Access" is more important than actual journalism.

who gives a shit if there is mueller fatigue? The only people that are actively creating mueller fatigue are 24 hour news networks, not Trump, so they should look in the mirror.

What polls? And either way the president is creating that sentiment, which should be criticized, not praised.

Same reason as the media is buying into Brexit in the UK. They don't want to run the risk of being taken down by the government.

Polls like this from politico or this slightly more recent one from CNN. I do agree of course, it should be criticized. I don't think its necessarily being praised however, but discussed and treated with more validity than it deserves.

What's real journalism then? I've seen the same shit at wapo and nytimes. The economist? You actually have to have some amount of circulation to be relevant, sorry.

It's about priorities.

Is the goal to inform? Or to make money?
Msnbc is frequently censored by management out of fear of offending corporate ownership.
Hence priority is making money.

The big cable channels are like the worst way to get news at this point. They'll prop Trump up until he's dictator 4 life just for the ratings bump.

Cable stations aren't regulated by the FCC, so really they can say and do whatever they'd like with very little accountability outside of PR.

They aren't saying that they're fatigued, they aren't buying into Trump's narrative, they're reporting on the observable fact that a significant chunk of the general population is tired of - or at least has become numb to - the daily ins and outs and ups and downs of the Mueller investigation.

If they weren't doing that, if they were crafting their own narrative that ran counter to the information that they have to report on... well, the name for that is Fake News.

No, trump is loudly broadcasting that message if you haven't noticed.

it doesn't matter what he broadcasts. He's not creating fatigue by repeating himself ad naseum. The cable news covering every time someone farts thats is even remotely related to the investigation is whats causing it

and honestly, i dont give a shit if the public is tired of it, its not Muellers job to make you happy about the day to day of his investigation

I find most political talk panels on these "news" networks to be nonsensical endless debate about half researched opinions on optics. They rarely look at the content of the topic.

Oh you don't understand. Everything is entertainment now and must be judged as such. If someone is boring or they're doing a boring thing that I'm tired of hearing about, that means they're bad and they should stop. We don't live in a country anymore we live in a television show

Legal proceedings don't require high Q-ratings to be effective. The cable news requires hot topics to stay relevant, rather than relevant topics to keep the people informed. Don't watch cable news for news.

So he has net favorable numbers. This actually supports that it makes no sense to be broadcasting the President's message of "Mueller fatigue."

By this logic they should be fucking reporting on trump fatigue. Haven't heard that and his polls are worse.

They are parroting and broadcasting a narrative that doesn't exist. Hence the creation of this thread.

They should be openly saying the American public is sick and fucking tired of trump and congress should start impeachment proceedings if they are running this mueller fatigue nonsense.

Not seeing that are we. And that is arguably their fucking job. President repeatedly breaks the law, fucking call for his head you spineless pieces of shit.

Relax. The media uses phrases that are not legally binding or translatable to actions, like "Mueller fatigue" or "collusion", because they are not legally binding or translatable to actions. This way they can't/won't be exposed to legal liability brought on by others.

In this case, in trying to avoid driving one narrative, they have instead aided in heightening a narrative driven by Trump.

I'd think the slow leaks of damaging info are more beneficial than a one and done investigation to Democrats.
