Thanks for the new thread.

Expecting at least 150-200 people talking about Yakuza 0 in here. All hail the Queen!

Don't forget about the Yakuza 0 PC thread, the Yakuza community thread and the Yakuza ERA Discord.

I was always keen on Under Night In Birth but I hear the latest one Exe Late[st] has a good tutorial mode. How about a career mode/world tour mode - does it have one? Or is it arcade only?

What a month! Yakuza 0, Monster Hunter World and freakin' Shenmue is back. Not sure how I will find the time, especially as there is a pretty interesting event going on in Destiny 2 that me and a friend want to play a lot of.

Already beat Yakuza 0 earlier this year and loved it, but the series is honestly surprisingly replayable. Hoping Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2 and Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise are not too far off.

EXAPUNKS is super eye catching, but I am not sure if it is my thing. Sent it to a few people that might be into it though!

I'm genuinely surprised by how many people want to play Shenmue again. The game is so weird and antiquated. I feel like it's mainly nostalgia fueling this desire to replay them.

Another day, another hope for some steam sales so I can make my backlog bigger

Cool I got a booster pack for a game no longer sold on Steam, and it's not able to be sold.

Honestly tempted to rebuy NMS on PC despite getting it for $15 on PS4. Just seeing a lot of mixed stuff on how well it runs even on high end rigs. I'm a Ryzen 1600 and RX580 8GB so mid tier kinda stuff.

Also, man does MGS V hold up. Snagged it for $7 last week and have been putting in some mega hours. I'm assuming they tinkered with GMP rates etc as I used to be flush with cash when I played at launch on PS4 but I'm always super tight now.

MGSV more than holds up. I really wish someone would take the framework provided by the game, and continue on with it. It was easily one of my more favorite MGSs when focusing on gameplay aspects.

If Sega was cool. They'd have unlocked it at midnight GMT time. And whatever time it is in other areas get it unlocked. A few games have done that in the past.

The opening few hours is among the best of any game I've played. The music, the tense moments of escaping the hospital. Getting D Horse with Ocelot and being tossed into Afghanistan. Rescuing Miller and starting up your base. It's fucking awesome. It just... drops off after a while. You're right though, the gameplay is incredible. It allows for so much creativity and depth. Wanna just equip a grenade launcher and fuck shit up? I've S ranked a bunch of missions doing that. Wanna sneak real slow, Fulton out all the prisoners though a tiny hole in the prison roof then ride a container out of the hot zone? That's cool as shit too.

Zachtronics games are a curiosity to me. I never really see them talked about, but when a new one springs up there's a lot of buzz towards it. Also am I wrong or does the developer work at Valve?

Whew, what a month for games. Yakuza 0 will be my first go at one of those games, and it seems like a great starting point. Unfortunately with the month being as packed as it is, Shenmue's gonna have to fall by the wayside for me again.

I'm sorry, guys, I can't handle Mega Man X1. Especially not without save states.
The normal stage progression isn't so bad, but I can't fault you for doing that on the Sigma stages.

I want the next Deus Ex game to basically take MGSV's stealth system and put it in first person. It would be a much needed jump from Mankind Divided, especially with no more canned takedowns.

Anyone tried this new Logitech software beta thing? Seems like it sucks. Power mode is independent of profiles now so you have to manually switch from low power to high on g305. But maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

I'm sold. Take my money.
I'm a huge fan for anything Deus Ex, but the idea of MGS5 gameplay being the foundation for the next installment + augs... well.. that takes it to a whole new level.

Story mode is just one long Visual Novel.

It does have a standard Arcade mode and a survival mode + time trial mode but nothing fancy like what you just described.

Tutorial is one of the best in all of FGs though. Also doesn't hurt that it's the best 2D fighter since Street Fighter Alpha 2.

Are the story modes different between the two versions? Or does the late[st] make the late version totally obsolete?
Admittedly, I just skipped through the entire thing hoping it would give me some in-game currency for colours (it did not).

But from what I gathered, it seemed more like a prequel/delving into what each character is doing type deal rather than a full fledged continuation of the story. Each character had 1-2 sections so I'm assuming that's the case anyway.

Plus it gave us Gordeau tending a bar.

Fun fact, you can get the 'Azur semé de lis or' achievement by revoking all the cores held by England rather than fighting for them.

I am around 1/3 way through Doom and I really like it. Some things are already starting to be boring like destroying nests but finally new enemies started appearing. I like to go around level and look for secrets too. I finally managed to make game run stable 60FPS at higher resolution (I don't remember exact resolution but something like 80% of 4K resolution) at almost Ultra settings. I will post some screenshots later.

I want to play yakuza so bad! T_T haven't played the series since when the third one came out.

But having the time to play more pillars of eternity 2 is nice.

So many great games and I probably won't play anything besides WoW... (ok and try to finish Ao no Kiseki).

That should be everything, give a shout if I've missed something or missed out your recommendation.
Like mentioned above, the Exapunks link is not the correct one and I misspelled "Zachlike" in the last sentence. Great work with the thread as usual!

I can't wait for another best of year Zachtronics puzzle game.
Happy to see so many got interested in it. I have got to finish TIS-100 and Shenzhen I/O first I guess. =)

Woah, EXAPUNKS looks insane.

Maybe a little out of my league though.
The Zachtronics games are indeed quite challenging, and seem to take me forever to finish. But I like going back to them from time to time to just try to crack one more puzzle.

Exapunks link is broken, this should be the right one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/716490/EXAPUNKS/

EXAPUNKS is super eye catching, but I am not sure if it is my thing. Sent it to a few people that might be into it though!
I also would like to highlight this link for the Limited Edition which is quite cool I got to say:
http://www.zachtronics.com/exapunks/

We are a few people who discuss them in the Zachlike Community thread. Many there should know the games far better than me. Not sure about the dev at Valve.

Wait, is this new? Haven't seen this before:
He6mUEB.png
Yeah, it's a new feature within the last few days, if not yesterday. While it's great to see changes, it being incremental means its harder to notice the changes.
Perhaps it prevents people from rejecting the changes if they're done piecemeal?

Ah, August.
While you are all playing Yakuza 0, I'll be playing La-Mulana 2. It's one of those games where I want to be there during the discovery, it's such a rare treat that I can't pass it up.
But I also did buy Yakuza 0 as soon as the storepage went up, did my part.

Will also eventually get Shenmue, Monster Hunter World, Death's Gambit, Guacamelee 2, Two Point Hospital, Unavowed, Phantom Doctrine and any July games I missed too.
And here I thought I would try to save some money.

Hmm. Guess I'll look around what it takes for 60fps. Probably a mix of low to medium?

Also on 1440p but don't mind sub-native resolutions (especially if they're 21:9 ratio).

Hoping it doesn't have to look like complete ass for my goals :p
Based on the IGN stream, a GTX 980 has drops below 60 at 1080p with the medium settings preset (though that includes one pretty demanding setting, volume rendering).
Also the game has no 21:9 support.

Probably not even going to play Yakuza 0 again for a while after finishing the PS4 version. But it's there in my Steam library. Waiting.

YAKUZA 7 DAY AND DATE ON PC SEGA YOU COWARDS
I would never thought I would say this but this isn't as unlikely as it would've been say even a year ago.

There are multiple factors that make me think that not only will the new Yakuza project get a prompt PC version, the localization in general will be much closer to the release as we've come to expect from Yakuza games.

  • SEGA has clearly learned that not only is the West willing to buy the Yakuza series but they're willing to buy it in numbers that is starting to rival that of the Asian market.

  • The series is simply not the incredible seller in Asia that it once was. Times have changed but fortunately, SEGA is learning that just doubling down on Asia isn't the way to go so they've made a bunch of changes to accommodate the west for these games.

  • The time between release in Asia -> translation and release in the west has now been the shortest it has ever been with Kiwami 2 with a 7 month turn around.

  • The new project has been titled many times to be considered a new IP altogether. Even if they reuse assets and characters and the like, for all intents and purposes, the series will be treated as a new one rather than a continuation of the Ryu ga Gotoku series. So if there was a chance to go back to the drawing board in regards to how you want to market the game/decide timings for localization, this is the time.

  • Granted, they've been slow on catching up on the PC front but they are getting there. And that gives me hope that PC will be a major consideration for the series (and for all Ryu ga Gotoku studios games) from now on. Hell, they actually HOSTED an event in the states where they had panels and celebrated a release and announced an upcoming game. No way in hell that would've happened 3-4 years ago.

tl;dr, maybe it will.

Yakuza 0 seems to unlock a few hours early. Seems it will unlock at 4 PM CEST, which would be 3PM CET. So that's four hours early, as games normally drop at 7PM CET.
I demand Sega fixes this. lol
