Spider Man
Fuckin
Spider Man

And TLOU2 has a great following behind it due to Naughty Dog and it being a sequel(I know)

GoW did great and not to knock it, but the other two will do way better

Spiderman? No. It will sell well in September, but I doubt it will have serious daddy long legs. I'm expecting a short campaign, and the swinging mechanic already seems like it's just a few cool backflip animations that we've know seen 100 times. The latest gameplay footage I just saw didn't make the combat look like anything special. It's Arkham.

Last of Us? I think we will see some major downgrades. Will that affect sales? Probably not to much. But it's also just the second entry and the first game figures were propped up by double dippers like me starving for a PS4 game, hell I got mine super cheap trading in my PS3 copy.

GOW is a masterpiece. I literally just beat it tonight after buying it on sale during Father's Day. If they make it a $40 game during the holiday it will do huge #s for a 6month old game.
only way I'd take your appraisal of the game's combat seriously is if you were a fiend for Joker's Trials because basic Arkham combat this is not

TLOU2, perhaps. Spiderman? I can't see why. Has any Spiderman game come close to the sales of GoW?

No.

But we are talking about a Sony banked AAA Spiderman now with more hype than all the Spiderman games of the last 2 decades combined.

Still... God of War is showing the strongest legs for a Sony game since TLOU. I have my doubts Spiderman can have the kind of legs GOW is having (on top of having PlayStation biggest launch ever).

No exclusive has ever sold that much except for Kinect Sports IIRC because it was a pack-in game. Not any Mario game. Not Halo in its hayday. People are really being overly bullish about TLOU here.

TLOU did 17 million for a new IP. People expecting growth from that number is not surprising. Although I agree 20 is going to be difficult.

How long has it been since insomniac had a hit? I'm looking over their history of releases and they've been popping out games to very underwhelming sales figures. Critical reception isn't much better either....

You'd think tlou were a stronger brand than Spider Man with these responses

It's more of the Last of US is just a stronger gaming brand and something that will resonate well with PS4 consumers more than anything.

If Sony drops a $200 Spider-Man PS4 bundle this holiday that'll take the cake but last year I think Sony opted for a vanilla 1tb PS4 as the front runner for Black Friday so we'll see.

Some of ya'll are grossly underestimating just how HOT Marvel is right now. Spider-Man is gonna blow out God of War's excellent sales figures. The Last of Us 2 will do the same.

The latest Ratchet and Clank broke sales records for the series I believe.

Literally their last game?

They announced last month that Ratchet and Clank 2016 was Insomniac's most sucessful game ever.

In what world is 80 plus reviewed games on a consistent basis underwhelming? I mean Insomniac's last release Ratchet did great numbers and is critically acclaimed as well.

Spiderman can because it has a wider appeal than any of the other two games and doesn't come with a hard M rating.

I get that but really in the context of this thread is where I'm going with it. a successful insomniac game isn't the same as a successful naughty dog game. lets put this into perspective here

More than the other 2, Spider-Man's success depends on that metacritic score. I really see it being somewhere between an 83-88. The 94 elevated God of War beyond expectations and TLOU 2 is a lock for 90+. TLOU 2 is also a highly anticipated sequel. I'd give TLOU 2 the crown it'll probably sell 15m+ lifetime.

It depends on the review scores imho. if both got many 9s and some 10s here and there, then there,s a possibility.
Like it or not, there are people who buy games based on review score.

The M rated argument seems odd to me. The best selling game of the year, every year is M rated Call of Duty.

The numbers are from 2015.
Age of Ultron came out in 2015.

Some of ya'll are grossly underestimating just how HOT Marvel is right now. Spider-Man is gonna blow out God of War's excellent sales figures. The Last of Us 2 will do the same.

Strangely enough, the game being underestimated here is the one that ALREADY has a 94 metacritic and is breaking Sony sales records. If I have to bet the over/under on a 94 meta and 5 million sold in a month, I'm going under on both just to be reasonable.

That's across both PS3 and TLOU Remastered on PS4 though. A bit unfair to count re-releases like that, since I'm sure lots of people double-dipped.

Shouldn't be an issue though with TLOU2 releasing at the end of this gen though, assuming there's backward compatibility.

Yes as long as both review well and are perceived as being very good to great, then they both have great chances outselling GOW.

Both will surpass it. I really am starting to think Spiderman might be a commercial success like no other ps game. It'll have the side push from infinity war having been released like 3 weeks earlier, it's looking like the most"Spiderman" Spiderman game and, scores not being less than 8, it really will sell.

Not to say it will surpass it, mostly cause even I don't think it will, but days gone has a good possibility of doing horizon or better levels of sales. Don't underestimate the mainstream love affair with a good zombie story and bikers

They just need one mega-hit to change everyones' mind.

Would anyone have believed a "successful Guerrilla game" could be selling just as well as Uncharted 4 before Horizon?

Horizon ZD vs Days Gone vs Ghost of Tsushima

Horizon did 7.6 million in 1 year. 10 million LTD could very well happens. Could DG and GOT reach those numbers? Both are gathering a lot of attention from the general audience so it is definitely possible imo. Days Gone seems to be really big with the mainstream. And GOT was one of the most popular games at E3, for my surprise.

This is also my opinion. The M rating won't hurt TLOU in any notable way.

TLOU PT. II will be the best seller of those 3. I want God of War to sell better because it's not someone else's IP but I don't think it'll outsell Spider-Man in the end. I'm happy that Insomniac is probably going to get the hit they deserve after delivering so many great games.

I hope Spider-man will do well, but i don't give a damn about that game. At work, nobody has any interest in it (my department has about 200 people, 3/4 men 24-40), superheroes are "has been" over here in videogames.
God of War and TLOU have a much bigger appeal and impact for working latin adults demographics.
I wish the game well commercially, for the sake of the team and their future endeavours, but i'll vote TLOU2.

I have my doubts about GoT. Although I like the kurozawa influence, seems a bit too slow to draw people. I feel it'll definitely do better than bloodborne but not reach 6m in a year. I could be wrong and maybe I am for sucker punch, but it had its with cut out for it. Day gone on the other hand, oh boy, that's going to probably not be a critical darling (like 8.5's) but man will that sell. Hell I can't wait to get in a bike, ride around and just murder some fucking zombies. If state of decay 2 can do well even with game pass, an open world game with huge zombie packs and looks as good as DG does, that'll print money (well as long as the game is stable).

Spider-Man may sale 7 million in it's first month of release. The hype and thirst is real.

Spider Man is SPIDER MAN. Im surprised there is even a debate here!

Ok I just wanted to get that out of the way, that was my initial reaction to this question. I respect other viewpoints and I could be wrong, but I feel like this being an amazing looking high profile SM game will attract a ton of people, most importantly, the more casual audience.

You say you just went over their history and then go on say that? It's obvious you didn't try very hard when searching, critically or sales wise.

I don't think Spider-Man will top God of War, because we have had tons of Spider-Man games. They do ok, but not Amazing (pun intended). Same for insomniac. Plus it's coming out amid serious competition.

Last of us 2 I think could do it if it comes out next year, but after that it will lose sales to the ps5 and the inevitable ps5 version.

I'd be surprised if it isn't Spiderman. I am actually not as big of a fan of superhero films/franchises, but Spiderman is just massive. I am seeing some GTA levels of hype from my non gaming friends on facebook and twitter, I will repeat this til I die but I think we are all underestimating how big this game will be. If it reviews as well as GOW, it's gonna be colossal

Youre off your rocker if you dont think TLoU2 will dethrone GoW. SpiderMan however remains to be seen, its a bit of an unknown quantity at this point and its gonna depend on how good the game is, reviews, etc. So far the buzz is incredible, and if the actual game delivers on the promise of what we've been seeing then I believe it has a strong chance because the hype train is is overflowing with paasengers.

Many people here reference 17M sales of TLOU1 [ps3+ps4 sales], but the OP's poll is limmited to "end of this gen". If TLOU2 launches late, it will maybe not have a chance to collect enough sales to challenge GoW and Spidey [if many people elect to purchase it on PS5].

The poll should simply stick to "best sales of all time", thus encompasing the eventual PS5 ports/remasters/"ps5 boost mode"/etc that all these three games will most surely get. GoW already supports 1080p60, on PS5 we will surely get 4K60 and potentially other facelift features.

Spidey is going to sell really well.maybe touch 10million. but tlous2 is going to do insane numbers.
