I ask this because I have recently asked this among people and the go to is Like a Rolling Stone. I get that but to if you follow Bob Dylan at all you know that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's hard for me but I guess I will go with Don't Think Twice. And as a follow up I will point to the live bootleg album Rolling Thunder Revue. That's one of my favorite albums.

Visions of Johanna is my favorite when sung by Dylan.

Tomorrow is a Long Time, as sung by Elvis Presley, is the best cover though.

Nearly impossible to answer this question but if I was forced to choose I'd usually go with Visions of Johanna. It is perfect. Like a lot of his songs though.

Nailing down a definitive favorite is really tough, but I do love this particular version of "Tangled Up in Blue."

Don't Think Twice. It's one of my favorite songs period.

It's so scathingly bitter and sarcastic and brilliant.

The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll -- Great song about the structural racism and classism in our justice system, still of course very relevant today. I love his harmonica playing in it, and the end of the song is a huge gut punch.

Don't Think Twice is a great pick, OP. I really like both versions of Girl from the North Country, but mostly the Freewheelin' version. I think The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is lowkey his best album.

Anything from the acoustic half of the " royal Albert hall" concert. I'm spellbound through the whole thing.

An underrated one for me is Changing of the Guards.

All time favorite tho is Love Minus Zero. Or maybe To Ramona.

No love for more recent Dylan work? Modern Times is my favorite album of all time. It's impossible to pick a song but recently I've been listening to "This Dream of You" Quite a bit. Other songs that I like that just came to mind are "Shelter From the Storm", "Things Have Changed", "Highlands", "Shooting Star" and "Lonesome Day Blues".

Great but impossible question particularly considering the multitude of versions of many of his songs.

I really love a 1984 performance of love minus zero/no limit-i need to figure out which concert it is, I don't have access this moment. Audience really gets into it and bobs voice is his 1984 middle aged and a bit contemplative voice. Accepting of his life, a stark contrast from even 1978 bob.

One too many mornings on hard rain is another favorite. Really nice version with my favorite Dylan voice.

I could drone on for hours on this, Ive been listening to a ton of Dylan for the past few years. I've been pulling as many versions of jokerman as I can find on YouTube recently. Good stuff.

Desolation Row for me. One of my favorite songs.
Love the rythm and the lyrics.

I've always been partial to I'm Not There, which I think is the greatest "lost song" of all time (obviously released on the soundtrack and Bootleg Series now). Visions of Johanna and Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again are two classics that really resonated with me in my college years. It's important not to forget modern Dylan, I think Mississippi and Not Dark Yet hang as one of the all time greats, the older I get the more I appreciate them. Isis, specifically the live electric version from the Bootleg Series Volume 5 is a wild ride. There's dozens more songs. I didn't even mention it but honestly you could probably make a good argument for every song on Blood on the Tracks.

I'm a huge fan of Dylan's earlier years (the whole 60's period). His concert at at he Royal Albert Hall in 1966 is pretty much the soundtrack to my youth. If I had to pick one tune I would pick Ballad of a thin Man, especially the version performed at the Royal Albert Hall.

I think it's this one. The organ kills me.
