I think some people may be seriously underestimating the commercial titan that is Spider-Man. I wouldn't be surprised if Spider-Man becomes Sony's fastest selling exclusive of all time. I'd love to see where the merchandise numbers are at these days but at one point Spider-Man was more profitable than The Avengers, Batman, AND Superman COMBINED.

Thats what i meant, sorry. But it's pretty obvious that it was around that time. That video never said anything about the MCU deal.
Yes, Marvel did approach Sony though.
This x1000. And damn, those graphs are telling. Spider-Man is a huge property.
I think Last of Us 2 outselling God of War is quite likely considering both Last of Us 1 and Uncharted 4 both did over 10mil. Not sure about Spider-man but I wouldn't count it out.
Looks like People have high expectations for Spider-Man. Don't know about sales of others games from the IP, was it that good ?
Tlous 1 show us how good the series can sell, so I would vote for tlous 2
Spider-Man will be Sony's best selling exclusive of all time. People underestimate the power of that franchise. It will be huge
The Last of US is more popular then Uncharted though at this point.
That's true but Spider-Man games have historically sold very well. Those graphs are misleading. As an IP sure but popularity does not translate equally across media. Otherwise homecoming would have smashed past a billion easily. The games world is different from the comic world and different from the merchandising world.

And none of them have had the marketing budget or pre-release coverage that Insomniac's Spider-Man has gotten. Not to mention the critical reception which seems likely to be higher than any past Spider-Man game. Only time will tell but I'm betting that Spider-Man is going to surprise a lot of people if they think it doesn't even have a chance of outselling God of War.
You'll see when it opens less than God of War.You honestly think the world's most popular superhero is going to sell less than God of War? LOL
I don't know, Homecoming despite being a great movie and guest starring IronMan of all people, still couldn't crack a billion in box office.Spider-Man will be Sony's best selling exclusive of all time. People underestimate the power of that franchise. It will be huge

To be fair, only 6 of the MCU movies have, 3 of which are Avengers movies (4 if you count CW).I don't know, Homecoming despite being a great movie and guest starring IronMan of all people, still couldn't crack a billion in box office.

But it made almost 900 million. That's... still pretty much huge. That equals 15 million video game copies sold, kinda.I don't know, Homecoming despite being a great movie and guest starring IronMan of all people, still couldn't crack a billion in box office.
I honestly think people are underestimating Peter Benjamin Parker.
Spider-Man is going to be HUGE. If the game is as great as it looks (and I don't doubt Insomniac for one second), word of mouth is going to push it for the 45 or so days it's going to have until RDR2 drops.
Then the Black Friday sale will put it in every kid's stocking for Christmas.
More likely than not considering God of War is probably headed to 12-15 million lifetime. Not sure why folks think thats going to be an easy number to crack.
Homecoming had to deal with Planet of the Apes and a couple other movies beforehand. Those graphs are misleading. As an IP sure but popularity does not translate equally across media. Otherwise homecoming would have smashed past a billion easily. The games world is different from the comic world and different from the merchandising world.
Yeah, no. Going to need some sauce on that because it's been known for a while Spider-Man has the popularity and profits behind it.
Spider-Man will outsell TLOU2 and GOW combined mark my words ERA!

Even with this making sense I still picked TLoU 2.

I just feel like people are overestimating the importance of Spider-Man brand. MvC Inf show that brand name can only push you so far if the game itself didn't deliver. now, I really doubt Sony will drop the ball here with Spider-Man like Capcom did with MvCI. but my gut feeling about whether Spider-Man can surpass GoW sales or not are entirely depend on the reviews. if it manage to get 90+ review similar to GoW, then yeah, I can see this sell very well surpassing GoW. but if the reviews are more about 85 ish score. than I don't think it will surpass GoW, even though the sales number will still be good. But it made almost 900 million. Homecoming, off the back of a failed reboot and tons of skepticism about yet another re-launch of the character, still put up one of the best MCU numbers besides the Avengers films and Civil War (which was essentially an Avengers movie). The only stand-alone movies that beat it are Black Panther and Iron Man 3.
Have we gotten any GOW figures since they announced it passed 5 million?
Games are heavily front-loaded and almost no exclusive sells 10+ million nowadays on a single console. I don't even know if Uncharted 4 has done that (sold 8.7 million in 2016, but no announcement of it ever passing 10 million).
