Hello! The July game drought is over and now we are in Q3 so the next couple of months are going to be super busy with releases. As always pleas submit recommendations if your game has not been represented by PM.

Oh btw check out Tizoc's thread on PC releeases as well!

Yakuza 0 - galv
Yakuza 0 is, frankly put, fun. You know, that thing that game publishers have decided to stay far away from. The game is a beat-em-up, set in a tightly-made open-world that you'll start to love and remember, as each building becomes slowly memorable and lived in. It is a game that revolves a gripping crime thriller of a story, filled with great, memorable characters and moments that make you revel in the sheer absurdity and creativity on display. The game is packed solid with a large amount of content; each minigame in Yakuza 0 feels as though it could be a part of its own game, from Dance Dance Revolution to Karaoke to OutRun. There's never a dull moment in Yakuza 0 and that in itself is high praise in an industry that has started to churn out the same open-world game with a different title on a regular basis.

The PC version of Yakuza 0 brings some much needed improvements on the technical side, including high-refresh rate & custom resolution support (including native 21:9 ultrawide!) making the PC version the best version of the game to date!

Phantom Doctrine - bobnowhere

The year is 1983. The world teeters on the verge of destruction as the Cold War tightens its icy grip.

Do you like XCOM? Do you like Cold War spy thrillers? Now you can combine both in the spiritual successor to Hard West. You are the head of the mysterious Cabal, a group tasked with preventing the world going to war. Recruit agents from the CIA, KGB, criminal organisations and even medical experiments gone wrong. Position assets around the world to help you in missions all the while investigating and uncovering the true nature of the threat you're fighting.

UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[st] - Tizoc

The updated version of Under Night InBirth features additional characters and rebalance to the system.
Choose from 20 fighters each with their own playstyle and moveset as you battle it out in a fighting game offering various combat mechanics to assist you offensively or defensively.

Unavowed - Tizoc

Ancient society dedicated to stopping evil.
On year ago, you were possed by a demon, forcing you to commit murder and tear a trail of bloodshed through New York City. Now a fugitive you and the Unavowed must work together to end the machinations of this dark force.

Monster Hunter: World - texhnolyze

Cook, hunt, upgrade, repeat.

It's the formula of Monster Hunter that never gets old. Essentially, it's a loot-focused action RPG built around a series of boss fights against large, fictional dinosaur-type creatures whose parts you can use to upgrade your equipment. Over the years, Monster Hunter has been in need of big changes, and with Monster Hunter World, Capcom has managed to evolve the series very well, making it more accessible, but without losing its essence, depth or difficulty.

Shenmue I & II - Mivey

Sega is jumping on the Shenmue III bandwagon, and delivering ports of the first two games on Steam (and consoles too)!
Originally meant as a huge system seller for the Sega Dreamcast, with a budget (including marketing) of up to $70 million, which was a lot in 2001, Shenmue didn't exactly live up to those expectations, and was shelved before all planned episodes were released. Besides a sprawling narrative, the game was also trying to establish its own unique genre (FREE), consisting of simulating a small part of a town with meticulous attention to detail. Besides just following the main story, there are lots of (essentially) mini-games, from just playing games, to Ryu working part time to earn money. Also influential in making quicktime events a thing!
And that's not even mentioning the combat system, which is essentially taken from the fighting game series Virtua Fighter, as the Shenmue director and writer Yu Suzuki, also co-created VF.

Death's Gambit - Endruen

My atention was drawn to Death's Gambit instantly after seeing its beautiful 16-bit graphics and smooth animation. The game promises to be a hardcore 2D platformer heavily inspired by the Souls saga. Explore the world at your own pace and fight against all types of bosses, from giants that could perfectly belong to Shadow of the Colossus to a futuristic sniper. With full customization of your character and a wide variety of abilities and weapons, the combat is bound to be interesting.
Truly the Dark Souls of 16-bit games.

Two Point Hospital - Hektor

You ever wanted to be a doctor?
Saving lifes via critical operations?
Supported by a group of SPICY anime nurses?
Well, too fucken bad, Trauma Center PC Ports ain't coming.

But this is the next best thing!

TWIN PEAKS HOSPITAL

Designed by Peter Molyneux and David Lynch!
Follow the story of Dr. Dougie on his investigation to find out what has happened since 1997 and his quest to end the evil cult of homoepathy once and for all!
  • Engage in tactical Greys Anatomy action
  • Relieve your favorite Scrubs moments via Social Links
  • Fight on large, open maps against up to 99 opponents
  • Unlock incredible cosmetics that cost as much as actual hospital equipment
and much more!

EXAPUNKS - Mugen

Zachtronics have an impressive track record of niche PC-exclusives, including Spacechem, TIS-100, Shenzhen I/O, and Opus Magnum from last year. Next in line is EXAPUNKS, which is yet another challenging programming/puzzle game where the aim will be to create viruses in order to hack banks, universities, consoles and more. Be sure to check out the quirky Limited Edition that comes with some physical goods that may be used while playing the game, and visit our small but growingZachlike Community.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season - MRORNAGE

While Season 3 was pretty weak I feel the finale will go back to what we loved about 1 - especially now that Clementine has taken on a parental role, caring for her adopted son. It' s bound to be a tough one to go through as nearly all the seasons have developed the characters quite well and it will be great to the final outcomes of each character. Plus it's always fun to see some dickhead in the game getting eaten for being a dumb shit.

D7sTtCN.png

Ristar - Tizoc
Ristar is a 2D Action Platformer from SEGA, where you play as the titular Ristar, a cartoony Star creature who sets off to save the universe from the machinations of the vile Kaiser Greedy.
Ristar has an unorthodox method of taking out enemies: He can extend his arms to grab things or enemies and then headbutt them.
Ristar's arm stretching is a key mechanic of the game and is used to traverse through certain areas of the game, or even cleverly bypass some ledges.
The overall game itself is simple and it has a difficulty option in case one wants a more relaxed playthrough on Easy. Gameplay-wise it is a solid and short platformer with vibrant and colourful worlds and a soothing soundtrack.

Store Page Europa Universalis IV - Saucepan Man

Europa Universalis IV is a historical grand strategy game that centers itself on the diplomacy of nation-states and empire building. It is a free-form map-painting game where goals, be they big or small, are essential. The world map is your canvas, make of it as you will.

The Challenge
"Azur semé de lis or" achivement from Europa Universalis IV in honour of France's victory in the 2018 World Cup. The requirements for the achievement is getting all the French Cores as France

The SteamERA Community was founded on Discord on October 2017, a stranded bunch of SteamGAF who united together and embraced on what we thought was the end of times. However as more people joined we found hope and soon started to formulate and plan for the future. This thread would not be possible without the community we have on Discord and I encourage all of you to join if you have not.

Just wanted to be the first to say thank you to QueenOfHunting for such an amazing give-away of Yakuza 0 copies. She really went over and beyond what anyone could have ever expected. I can't think of anyone else who's been so generous within or outside the Steam community.

I'm excited you nerds get to play Yakuza now. And you also have the good fortune to start with 0.

So many games coming out this month...some developer out there should make a game about QueenOfHunting's saga of bringing Yakuza awareness to all.

So many good games this month. Got myself Yakuza 0 and Two Point Hospital, maybe Under-Night.

Haven't got that achievement yet in EU4 so I'll give it a go.

Already have Yakuza 0 bought, gonna download it as soon as it unlocks since it will actually take me less time that way. Also grabbing MHW again on PC, and UNIST on launch. Looking to be a great month!

I'm actually mildly excited about Madden on PC. I normally play a bit on consoles, but I spend most of my time on the computer.

Double dipped on Monster Hunter. Hoping some friends might join me. Or maybe I should just make new ones.

Playing WoW again. Always come back to it.

Just a quick note:

It's pereftly fine to submit games from GOG, Origin, UPLAY or any other PC DD storefront, as long as the game comes outs for that month.

Just saying.

You guys are in for a treat with Yakuza. The only downside is 0 is arguably the best game in the series overall so it's slightly downhill from here, but the others are mostly pretty good too.

Hmm. Guess I'll look around what it takes for 60fps. Probably a mix of low to medium?

Also on 1440p but don't mind sub-native resolutions (especially if they're 21:9 ratio).

Hoping it doesn't have to look like complete ass for my goals :p

I would assume recommended would be for 1080p / 60 FPS, you can wait and check I guess.

New thread smell!

I'm already covered for the month with Yakuza 0 and Shenmue 1+2, but I would have liked Monster Hunter World, Overcooked 2 and Two Point Hospital too. Can't have it all.
