I am going to assume this will run Fire Pro Wrestling World.

I am now back on the fence in terms of picking this up.

I don't need much gaming from it but if it plays a few old titles that I like going back to I will be happy.

With the USB type C port will this be capable of connecting an external GPU? I know that is not remotely advisable and the CPU will bottleneck it but do we know if the port has the bandwidth for it?

It's not Thunderbolt 3. Wouldn't support eGPU.

The best you could hope for there is that Microsoft releases an enclosure that supports the surface link port which does have the bandwith iirc.

So, anyone on ERA grab one of these? I am floating between just getting a Pro 4 or getting the higher end Go.

Really tempted by this after owning the Surface 3 which I use a lot.

However I'm on my 3rd Surface 3 due to the screen issues. Firstly every one I have owned has ended up with a yellow strip down the screen after 3 or 4 months. Apparently it's due to the glue they used in the screen. Then they all had a lot of pixels die over time, only really affected black or dark screens but it is pretty bad. I basically swapped it out until the warranty ran out. Still usable though and every time they sent me a new one it added a year of office 365 to my account.

Really interested to see what the screen on these are like in 6 months time.

Reviews are rolling in and it's looking.... really good. Seeing if I can find some more gaming benchmarks.

Also Costco has a model with the 128GB SSD and the Keyboard for $550 seems like the best option.

Wow those are all playable. Indie games will be fine on this too. This is REALLY compelling if you like portable gaming and you're on a console budget.

My $550 model + Alcantara KB arrived tonight. First impressions are very positive. Feels fantastic in the hand - exceptional build quality. Bezels are disappointing and it's a tiny bit thicker than I anticipated... but it's kind of mind boggling that this is a fully featured Windows PC.

I have an iPad Pro 9.7" with Smart Keyboard which I really like. The newest iOS offers some great multitasking improvements. And the App Store is unrivaled. But at the end of the day, I'm more "impressed" with a Windows PC this size, cause I can relate it to the giant, massive tower I use for gaming, or the multitudes or power this thing has compared to my family Dell computer growing up in the 90s.

Anyway, it's a great "around the house" computer based on first impressions. Only disappointment is that Chrome runs like absolute ass. Edge is great. But as a primary Google user/Chrome user, the performance here is supremely upsetting. It hiccups constantly. Tabs are slow to load. Touch is shit. Again, Edge has none of these issues; too bad I just don't use Edge that much. Guess I'll start.

Keyboard is high quality and feels good. Typing is fine if a bit cramped. $130 is insane though.

Every few weeks eBay has a 15% off site wide coupon which basically makes the keyboard $10-25 or so (depending on which Go and keyboard you get).

This is the 8GB model, right? Really disappointed about the poor Chrome impressions again. I read a Guardian review recently and don't remember much said about Chrome not functioning well.

Has anyone tried Firefox on this yet?

For me Chrome in general is slow as hell compared to Edge on windows 10. I switched to Edge exclusively on my Android and PC. The sync between the two is great and I just prefer Edge. It works so well and looks great with 10. It's come along way...

I'm pretty sure the Edge is just better optimized then Chrome on Windows 10 esp the Go.

Yeah this thing is nice but man, Chrome runs like absolute shit on it. Luckily I only use it for writing and light research.

Edit: oh and them classic P&C adventure games

Has anyone been able to play Halo Wars definitive edition on this? I'm tempted to get this as a replacement for a MacBook air I have.

Any reason to keep Win 10 S or should I just migrate over?

It depends if you need anything outside of the Windows store. I have very few programs I use outside the store but I have Pro. I lock it down for the kids basically turning their laptop in Windows s and they don't complain?

Steam I guess possibly but most stuff is pretty basic. Will stay with S at the moment and see how it goes.

Hoping people are downgrading from the Surface Book 2 15" as it might be a bit much for them, but not for me to buy!

Sweet! I would love that. Thanks!
So it runs quite well, I did the first mission, there was some slowdowns but it was playable.

All settings set to the minimum the game still looks great and the framerate is around 30 FPS, sometimes more and around 15 during the final battle of the mission.

Note that I was using the native resolution, 1800*1200, if I chose a lower one it ran better, but the game did not handle it well, it was stretched unless you play in windowed.

Thanks for the report. I'll just wait for the October 2nd for the next surface.

Does the Surface Go have the best build quality in its price range? I'm looking for a replacement for my old laptop but I want it to last 5-8 years easily.

Also, is it easy to dual boot Ubuntu/Windows 10 on the Surface Go?

edit: oops, didn't realize this thread was in gaming. Nm.
