huh?
I don't remember any kind of bad performance when I played it.
in fact I found it to be one of the better beat'em ups. I loved the goofy voice acting

Not to gripe about little stuff, but is this a port of a cellphone version? The revised graphics look...well, in the example they chose to highlight improvements, it's not all that flattering.

The tree looks 2d in the 3ds version but 3d in the Switch version, it's probably the same for other elements, but yeah the new graphics look too clean and simple.

Just based on this at least, the surfaces in the original game evoke the actual style of the artist (albeit in low res), and the new art seems to be more flat-shaded surfaces (the ground, for example). The tone is really different. That was what made me think of a cellphone port.

I found it to be quite the chore at a certain point on the 3DS. So much that I didn't want to bother.

No, it got bad reviews because it was a mediocre game with bad performance.

I suppose if performance was better it would just get mediocre reviews instead of bad ones.

Ah damn that's a shame. Well hopefully as the release draws closer we'll get more info on any improvements they may have made outside of just graphical/performance.

Oh, cool -- it's confirmed now. I never actually got around to the 3DS game, despite having bought it... what, 5 years ago now? Oh well. Seemed like the technical issues were a huge drag. Curious to see how the game is now that it's relieved of those issues.

Also, I am all about 3DS games coming to Switch.

I hope they go into what exactly they changed for AI and gameplay balance before the game releases. Those details will determine if I pick this one up.

Yeah, apart from the main characters and bosses, every single character model becomes playable after finishing the game.

Not even a huge roster of playable characters could save this one for me when it came out 100 years ago on the 3DS. Incredibly repetitive combat with very little depth.

I can't find much chatter about this and it releases this week. Anyone managed to get their hands on a copy? The price tag puts me off since I own this on 3DS and PC and bounced off it because I didn't like how it felt to play it. Would love some hands on impressions if anyone was sent a copy, etc.

The review actually sounds pretty good. Original 3DS version was hampered by frame rate issues and PC port was pretty terrible from the reviews.

This isn't too bad at all.

Picked this up last week and kind of wish I had done some research on it beforehand. I expected it to play a bit differently. The characters walk very slowly unless you're dashing, which kind of turns me off. Other than that, the game seems decent but I've only put about 30 minutes into it.

Just ordered the physical copy. Never played the 3DS version, but I'm always ready for some side scroll beat em up action. Especially with the new local coop mode!

If you're a fan of the original, you'll likely enjoy the minor tweaks and upgrades on offer, but don't dive in expecting a 'remaster'. You get couch co-op and a healthy framerate, although it doesn't look great on a TV and the original's excellent English voiceover is AWOL. Despite modest enhancements, the 3DS origins of this six-year-old game are plain to see, which may put off newcomers. It's a solid hack-and-slash experience, as it always was – we just wish it did more to earn that 'EX' addendum. 7/10
NL say it doesn't look great on the TV

Played this on 3DS when it released only due to the similarities to Guardian Heroes.

Really wish we could just get a new Guardian Heroes. I really enjoy "lane-based" beat-em-ups (is there a better term for this? lol).

I was confused too, but the eshop page for the game says it supports 2 - 4 online, I think it's just the 2 player local play is new so they're advertising that.
This. The local mulitplayer is indeed new from what I remember. Looking forward to getting my copy in the mail today. I really enjoyed this on the 3DS. It's very grindy when it comes to leveling up characters but I like that with this game. The character designs are really nice as well.

I bought this for PC expecting a Guardian Heroes quality game.

Is not even close.

I started the game today and I'm pretty satisfied so far :)
Never played the 3DS version, but I'm always hyped for some side scroll beat em up action. I jumped straight into local coop with my girlfriend and it's a lot of fun. Is there a tutorial when you play alone? Because there was nothing when we started. We quickly figured out the basic mechanics and controls and it reminded me of Guardian Heroes, which I only played on the Xbox 360 for a while. Especially that you can do special attacks with street fighter commands, like hadouken etc.
Also the second level was a graveyard. Wasn't it the same in Guardian Heroes? Felt like a tribute to it.

WHat is wrong with this game UI haha.
I wanted to play this game back when it released but never got around it so i decided to just jump in with the physical release (because I can share/resell it). Seems alright.
