Man, PS4 exclusives are about to get ton of awards this TGA lol. Can't wait :D
The only thing I hate is that it releases so close to Dragon Quest XI. That, and I'm going back to college with classes that while not hard, they give you hours upon hours of homework per week.
I'm not even sure if I should start playing DQXI before this comes out, so I'll probably just wait and play Spider-Man first.

That is such a silly complaint. Not only is Sony footing the bill, but Marvel approached Sony for this project and Sony could have chosen anyone (including a first party studio), instead they chose Insomniac. Insomniac has just as much if not more reason to thank Sony than Marvel in this situation.
Well, unless I'm mistaken, Marvel chose Sony and Sony chose Insomniac.

I'd say it's fair enough, Sony funded it to get people to buy their console.

Would have Devs just stare at their screen for 5 weeks or continue to work on the game?
They'll probably do the same review/marketing cycle like they did with God of War. Have great reviews out early and hype people up from reviews alone for 1-2 weeks till the game is out. If the game is good enough to back up that strategy, why not? Worked for Kratos.
Shipping process too, but yeah it's normal time for expected big selling game.
