What's the risk? Like, gifting something and getting nothing? That would be a bummer sure but I'm more excited about making a gift than receiving one anyway :)
Maybe lower the minimum, remove continental as a category, meaning the decision is between non international and international?Current data is hard to parse. When you pair that with the number of countries I've got replies from, I'm not 100% sure which way to take it just yet.
Don't we have a bunch of trolls on this board with accounts? I'd love to participate, but I'm really not comfortable giving out my home address to anyone here.

Update on 10/26/16: A form as been added to help me determine how shipping will go this year.
Considering the situation surrounding ResetEra's creation, there are some details that I am still working out for the inaugural Secret Santa. Deadlines, cutoffs, rules for participation, etc. Please make sure to watch/sub to this thread so that you're up-to-date on any and all changes and decisions that get made.
Also note that this thread is a big work in progress! However, I wanted to get some VERY bare bones info out there to start raising awareness!
Absolute minimum info for the time being:
- There will be a sign-up deadline, but the date is not decided. Thinking about 11/17/2017 cutoff right now. This would give me time to get matches out by Black Friday so folks can do some shopping then.
- The goal will still be to have delivery of your gift by Christmas (12/25/2017).
- The minimum you should expect to spend on a gift is ~$25. This number does NOT include shipping.
- I may not be able to offer international vs no international shipping this year. The user-base may not be large enough yet to support this. I will probably put a temp poll up soon to get a feel for it.
- Everyone gets a fresh start here. Don't ruin this. This is a new community that we need to take care of and grow together. If you sign-up, you're committing to this. If you can't commit with 100% certainty, do not sign up.
You can quote to (hopefully) see how the Google Doc will be hidden. Same as previous years!
I'm definitely in, but I personally feel that the first year should be limited to members who are verified to either have taken part last year or were at least signed up on GAF.
For such a new forum that supposedly "has a bunch of trolls" signed up or whatever, I think it would be a good idea to reduce potential risk as much as possible, especially with the forum opening this close to Christmas.
I was disappointed to read this, but I understand where you're coming from. I've never participated, but am a transplant from GAF. I'm really looking forward to this. Here's to hoping I don't get barred :/
The only problem with this is that I changed my name on here, so verification might be a problem.I'm definitely in, but I personally feel that the first year should be limited to members who are verified to either have taken part last year or were at least signed up on GAF.

I'm a bit conflicted. I feel like I should limit it to folks who were previously GAF users to some degree, but I also feel like I should kick this year off with a full on trust for those involved. If the migration to RE taught us anything, it's that the core community is legit and won't let people who fuck other users over off the hook.
Let's not make it more complicated than necessary. It is a huge logistical challenge already. How about an option similar to the international/non-international choice where you can choose to send/receive to/from verified members? (Edit- Just for this first year, of course.)
This would of course make it so that people would have to provide some method of verification, but having a choice satisfies both requirements while allowing the most people in.
On the fence about this here - had 1 experience over on GAF, and it didn't turn out so good. I know it's the gift of giving, but to give an item I had so desperately wanted myself to someone else, and receive a pre-owned copy of LittleBigPlanet Karting, with a $4.99 tag still on, 2 months late? Hurt a little :( for those participating though, all the best! I'll be swaying too and from until deadline, that's for sure.
