Official site: https://arcthelad.com/
Trailer:

The game is set 10 years after the Great Disaster in Arc the Lad 2. Brand new characters and returning characters. Direct continuation by the core staff who made Arc the Lad 1-2, seems to be ignoring 3 and 4. It's a RPG with strategy battles like the originals. Now on smartphones, will be available in Japan very soon, per-registration starts today.

The original staff who worked on the first two games is back making this, and after leaving GREE, Tsuchida revamped GCraft as a developer to bring the team together again.

Looks much better than I was expecting. A lot more polish than I anticipated for such a legacy title.

Now I can only hope that the Wild Arms mobage gets at least this level attention paid to it.

Just no more Breath of Fire 6 scenarios, for the love of god.

Are these games still worth playing? I know there's a fanbase, but I've personally never known anyone who's played them at all.

Should probably mention that this is a mobile game in the title so that others won't be disappointed.

Hype reduced from top to the ground level when I saw mobile. Trash.

I'll give it a try, I liked the PS1 games back in the day. It already looks better than FE Heroes to me :P

Tosh's critical hit better still be throwing his sword into the air then just punching his opponent.

man that gameplay looks disappointing. I knew it was a mobile title, but I had higher expectations than this

Well I'll give it a shot. I should replay Arc 1 and 2 again.

Well, that's certainly a mobile game all right.

Gameplay looks good though. The combat area seems big enough, which would encourage tactical movement.

As expected for the true successor of the original Arc the Lad games, there will be Forbidden Ruins, a Colosseum, and Hunters Guild missions:

Only the first two are worth playing. Arc 1 is a pretty short game, but it's a decent game and a good introduction to the world. Arc the Lad 2 is great. Best sequel ever. It expands on the original in every way.

Should probably mention that this is a mobile game in the title so that others won't be disappointed.

Why? We've known the Arc the Lad and Wild ARMS reboots were mobile games for almost two years. If anyone's disappointed, it's their fault for being ignorant of information that's been out there since 2016.

Every old classic JRPG franchises go to mobile. What's next, Suikoden?

It'd be real nice if the thread wasn't just post after post of people dipping in to say "Ugh, mobile game" about something we've known for years at this point.

Battlefields look a lot bigger than you'd expect given the vertical perspective. Looks like the camera just zooms in to show you the smaller chunk, but you can zoom out to see a much wider zone. Significantly bigger than something like Fire Emblem mobile, anyway.
Yes, that's exactly my thoughts. The battlefield seems much bigger than Fire Emblem. That game feels so repetitive and limited due to the small space.

Trailer showing how Arc the Lad R picks up ten years following the end of 2, and where the remaining cast is at. Spoilers for 2.

I can only assume this won't get localized so I can just stare at it every now and then like the wonderswan game.

It's too bad there won't be an English version. I would like to see what they do with the story. There was a lot of potential for a sequel, considering how Arc 2 ending. It's too bad Arc 3 wasted it.

This looks like it has huge potential. Ignoring Arc 3 and 4 is also really interesting to me.

I don't know any Japanese but I'm gonna try to play out when it comes out

Just wanted to mention that the website has higher quality images of some characters:

Also seems like classic costumes might be a thing:

I can't believe that mobile Arc the Lad game they were teasing turned out to be a mobile Arc the Lad game. Disappointing!

Seriously though, not digging the chibi character designs, but I need to see some battle footage.

I get that this is the first time some people are seeing this news. But please do also understand that while this community isn't that big on F2P gacha games in general, there is a community that are interested in actually discussing and playing these games beyond just complaining about how it's not a traditional game on console/PC.

If you were well aware of the fact that this game was already announced for mobile, and just feel the repeated need to drive-by and vent on the fact that this is mobile over and over again without any perspective or insight into the gameplay/design/story elements that was just revealed...

Please stop.

I don't know why people are acting surprised that sleeper hit franchises like Arc the Lad are coming to mobile. I'm thankful this even exists because they sold terribly.

My main gripe is with the chibi artstyle. Phones have passed the ps1 era graphically and chibi characters are still the norm.

Didn't look like the game is gacha. But, no english version. This is really frustrating. Why does a company as big as Sony is making a japan only game.

Can't be excited for any forwardworks title as long as it's not localized. :(

I assume this isn't a F2P Mobile title but a legit game?
It's F2P but it's also a legit game. You can't really sell paid apps in Japan and expect it to be successful really. Even outside of Japan it's a challenge. But this will definitely have a story, missions, cutscenes, both story characters and gacha characters, lots of bonus content, etc.

Seriously though the game looks good and seems like it has more to it than Fire Emblem Heroes (which is not bad).
I just hope they put serious effort to the story and they localize this to English, though the latter is rather unlikely.

The art weren't what I was expecting, it looks like Valiant Force or even Dragalia Lost if you didn't know anything about it. Still there's some potential in this, ForwardWorks need their real big hit too and this one looks the most potential.

Why did they put the Bravely Default characters in my Arc The Lad? This is so frustrating.

FUCKJFUCJIFJCK.

I saw the initial artwork and thought, "wow, this looks good!"

Then I saw "Oh? By the core team? Story continuation? New and old characters! Wow, okay, it could be good."

Then I saw that chibi art bullshit. wow
