Attack on Titan Episode 39

Episode felt so short :( Though the opening 3DMG action with Levi was pretty awesome.

Jean continues to best, glad he was still able to hold his morals and not kill a fellow human being.

They are definitely gonna try to redeem her mom, which is certainly possible in the manga, but there's no chance in hell that there is any satisfying method of doing so here. I'm just glad that Elena, and everyone else is slowly realizing that it was probably a mistake to force Ayano to play badminton again without you know, going to therapy to resolve her underlining issues, something they didn't realize until like 50 chapters in so its definitely picking up the pace in that regard. I just hope this version of Ayano doesn't last only 1 or 2 episodes.

I was looking forward to this very cute version of Ayano though...

Nope, nope. I won't believe it. There's no way a modern Super Robot show can possibly be good. At least not while it's still airing and I'm watching it, anyway. When it finishes it might be good, then it will be my time to watch it.

Hana, I don't think being an android is a proper life dream or goal. More Saaya being all introspective on herself and what her desires are. Nice to see more of her family and all, but Ranze was definitely the real star. Will she overcome her leek trauma? Apparently Lulu can drool. I guess we know what Saaya's final focus episode will be about.

This show is incredible in every way. Every episode just gets more hysterical.

The butler(?) character is amazing, as is Olivia's hair.

Splendid action, I loved the Kenny vs Levi scene. The pace of the season seems to be good too so far.

Yes. Good. Yes.

Now repeat that but without the psycho evil look in your face.

Sadly the above means they're treating a much belated yet quite reasonable reaction to a shitstain of a mother as some anime tier evil mode + this being only a fourth episode means it's not going to last. The production took a hit in the last two eps but still thankfully mantains itself at pretty decent level.

Well this answers any outstanding questions over how 'fast' this adaptation would be. The first episode of this season started at Chapter 51 of the manga, and this episode ends at Chapter 59. Normally such a condensed adaptation would be a cause for concern, but the writers here have done a great job in trimming the fat, rearranging the order of events and generally tidying up a plotline most people considered turgid.

The episode itself felt slightly more coherent than the last one as the order of events generally made sense. A lot of the work of the episode was carried by a truly spectacular action sequence which left me sufficiently numb enough to excuse some of the rushed plotlines and character developments. I'm very excited by where this is going to take us in terms of the overall story.

Oh, and the ED is really nice. Shame about the OP.

Look man, I don't know.

Literally every time I've looked forward to a modern mecha anime and watched it while it aired, it's always turned out to be garbage. I think FRANXX broke me.

If you want to confirm your bias against it more, I think it is only okay and is only really held up by the mysteries it presents and the general weirdness around it. Fights and characters have not impressed me that much.

ED is immediately superior to the OP on the first view.

I'm really happy with the episode's structure and it already fixed one medium plot hole from the manga concerning Eren's capture.

The man vs man 3DMG action in the city was bound to work much better in animation but god damn did they go all the way here.

Was anybody expecting Franxx to be good? I expected some anime shenanigans involving sex and ridiculous mech designs but that was all. I watched it to laugh at it until it started becoming stupid and not in a fun "let's laugh at how bad this" but in a bad way. I dropped it half way through.

Planet With however, is getting better and better so they would have to fuck it up in a big way for it not to be Medicore but enjoyable at worst and a masterpiece at best.

At this point, I stopped caring about any semblance of worldbuilding or logic in the SAO universe.
Sigsawa and 3Hz have essentially salvaged the best that they could out of Kawahara's world using better-written characters.

Just once in my life, I wanna have a justified reason to enter an establishment like this.

Also, this is probably the best action episode I've seen this year, barring that episode of Boruto a week or two ago. Arifumi Imai's work on this series consistently impresses.

Y'all weren't kidding about Levi's action animation at the beginning of the episode, that was some slick stuff.

A solid episode in general, swiftly paced but without really feeling rushed or disorienting like the first episode did somewhat. Plenty of good moments, too, centred around the morally-grey nature of the conflict our protagonists been thrown into - from torture and deception, to Armin having to deal with the trauma of taking a human life. And of course there's Kenny, who has always been a weird character but it's hard to deny his cutthroat antics are fun to watch.

A fake Ochako is cute too, but the real thing is of course superior.

So far it's good. It's not a traditional mecha show if that's what you're looking for.

They are also self-contained enough for casual fans to get into, they feature Saber and Gil, the ones people will recognize. I think even just the ova could be enough setup to watch both of those things. It's still pretty much a big advertisement for the game.
I guess some people are worried that the TV anime is by the DarliFra studio, but was that show bad because of it's look and directing or the bad politics and characters? They are starting with good material at least and maybe more budget with all that gacha money.

Most of the problems that you could say about Darling in the Franxx didn't come from Cloverworks but the freelancer side of it including direction. The animation was good, just like the art so what matters for the rest is for the Fate anime is who will be contracted for it.

And Cloverworks was A-1 Koenji so they did Slow Start as well with what we know.

I thought my expectations for this show were sufficiently broadened, but I still wasn't expecting alien implanted rectal death ray butler.

I think it's interesting that both malevolent and jokester yokai seem kinda lost in the modern world. It's makes me wonder how other paranormal entities hold up. Good episode, lots of very pretty backgrounds.

Important to get confirmation that they do suck right now. You gotta put in some time to share the same stage as Glitter Green. More importantly, Roselia shows up! All of them! And they spoke! Best band gets best treatment. Not sure what was going on with Lisa, but I'll take what I can get. Obviously Space has to close down since everyone is going to Circle by the time the game starts.

Man, that director sure know how to hype up with that choreography action, doesn't he?

Hanebado 4

Isn't this anime supposed to be sport for fun? For competitions, yes; but to rebel with her mom? LOL.

That last part, though!

-----------------------------

And I've decided to drop Cells At Work, maybe this anime wasn't for me. It was funny and well education, for one, but it's just sort of a bland to me. And I'm gonna to rewatch Asobi Asobase Ep. 4 again after Hero Academia, I was absolutely hooked of it.

Charming and borderline annoying at the same time. Every character is slightly irritating, but I appreciate the look at old school gaming.
