What a weird and wonderful Fiasconauts. Like across between The Pen Show and The Zoo, complete madness. Great to see Kyle back!

ok, so this patreon number means that the studio goal will be delayed, right?

I doubt they are delaying anything. They are constantly dipping past the goal, so I am sure they are doing their prep work. Like, I don't speak for the allies, obviously, but I feel like they are definitely going to be taking that goal very seriously and doing a lot of planning/budgeting.

I feel like it will be pretty obvious when the allies are studio ready. I doubt it will happen this year buy we will have to see what these new patreon tiers are. I think it was a mistake not to have atleast one post 50K goal ready to go once they hit the milestone but that's in the past now.

The Allies are in a good position right now. They know 50k is possible and can get there if they push for it, but the money isn't building up so fast that they're forced to get the studio before they're ready and have made all the preparations.

I think they maybe need to think about a goal past 50k. Like, a goal at 51k. I think there needs to be a little bit of a push there.

Brandon said on CoJ that they don't want new goals before they know what studio they're in so they can tailor it around what they can do with that space. Which makes perfect sense.

Jones has said they already talked about new goals past 50k and they are coming in August, just gotta be a little patient.

What about Top Ten? Will you guys manage to put it up in time by the end of the month? I don't see it on the site schedule.

I want a show where Huber reads patrons gaming wishes and then by his usual dark ritual make them come true.

I just hope that the instability of the patreon doesn't mess with the goal, because that would mean no studio for this year, I don't see them doing 50k steadily for now.

The 50k goal exists so they can have a comfortable stream of cash to invest in the studio

If they get one and dip to 49,500 they aren't going to move out that month or anything.

I think they just want to avoid hitting 50k one month for a quick push and then dropping back down to 45k or something

Regardless of studio situation it is amazing to see them where they are right now. It was hard to tell if launch numbers were even sustainable, the studio seemed near impossible without outside help

Yeah, it's not as explosive as last month, but I still consider this month to be promising growth with a consistent $50K being fairly close even if it doesn't squeeze through. We're currently only one sponsor away from that, and there are three sponsor slots and two TTE slots open. The majority of people that gave extra to hit that goal last month are back to their normal pledge amounts, so it says a lot that were still so close to $50K.

The new goal will be fullplaythrough fridays or something similar - at least I am very confident in that after the last CoJ and the related question. It was basically a "we cant comment right now"answer if I remember right.

Hopefully those sponsor slots get picked up soon. I actually think they are a pretty damn good value. You may not be advertising to millions of people if you grab a slot, but the advertisement feels so much more intimate. Also, Scorn is a game that I am now super interested/hyped to play. Their EZA advertisements were the first step in that happening (the game looking awesome is what secured it, of course).

Crazy to think they dipped below 40k just 4 months ago. Hovering around 50k, above or below, is pretty damn good!

Dang, got back into playing hollow knight and forgot about the Q&A! Guess I'll just catch the archive later.

You like Hollow Knight?

It's honestly the most conflicted I think I've ever been with a game. I played it when it first launched on switch and got very frustrated with some design decisions. My biggest complaints all feed into each other and can make for a very frustrating experience at times.
The save points are few and far between and when you die you are transferred back to the last place you saved. So far I have not encountered a lot of major shortcuts. When you hit an enemy with your weapon you are knocked backwards. This has caused me to have many deaths I would consider to be cheap, at which point I get sent back to the last place I saved and I have to backtrack all the way to where I was before. This has taken 10+ minutes before but since I've unlocked some navigation upgrades its significantly easier to avoid enemy's now and run through areas much quicker.

Speaking of upgrades, you unlock them very slowly imo. My two favorite metroidvanias are guacamelee and ori, hollow knights upgrades unlocked a lot slower than those games. To make matters worse, I'm the type of player who likes to explore everywhere before moving on and will bang my head against a challenge for a long time before giving up. Last night I spent half an hour trying to get past part of a challenge and after finally succeeding I was immediately met with a wall that is too tall for me to jump over (I clearly need an upgrade.) I was unspeakably frustrated.

It probably sounds like I hate the game now, but there is a lot to love here too. The atmosphere is incredible, the game has a very depressed downtrodden feel to it. The music feeds into this with somber melodies and epic boss battle music. The combat can be incredibly rewarding (when your not being knocked back into a pit.) The enemy's start out pretty simple but the things I'm fighting now put up quite a challenge and it feels great to land that killing blow and dodging around taking potshots at an aggressive foe. When you are properly equipped to take on the puzzles they are a lot of fun as well, lots of jumping and dodging spikes. They have not reached the highs of ori or guacamelee yet but I still great.

I'm going to keep playing and see what else this game has to offer, despite everything negative I had to say I still think it's worth checking out.

I wish the Q&As weren't time gated to patreons at 5 dollars, especially since now all the other shows are gated to 5 dollars. Must probably because it's always been 20 dollars. It's definitely my favorite piece of "podcast like"" content they do.

Hah, they were playing A Way Out on the charity stream and there's a very brief flash from one of the characters. Here's the Twitch clip in case you haven't seen it already (nudity warning obviously): https://clips.twitch.tv/SassyPopularElephantImGlitch

Yeah I really love the Q&As also. I may be wrong, but I don't think $5 patrons get early access for it. The $20 patrons get to see it live and then the archive is released to everyone else at the same time later.

Q&A is usually one week after recording date to everyone else, or did I misread what you wrote?

It does start slow, I agree, I don't want to spoil anything but there are a variety of charms that will make all the things you're having trouble with much easier :)

Lolwut...isn't that character based on the director's brother? That must've been awkward.
