I admit that I don't get to watch a lot of games outside of the Dbacks. Maybe I am just spoiled hearing Bob Brenly talk. This Yankees braodcast sounds like an early 2000's sports video game.

The game has definitely changed over the years. No longer are managers letting their guys go out there and pitch until they are out of gas. They are strategically sticking to pitch counts and pulling pitchers out of games no matter what. Randy Johnson was on a broadcast a few weeks ago complaining about this very thing. Managers are handling pitchers with kids gloves these days.

because it's obviously smart

You would think after Sanchez's lack of hustle cost them a game last week that the Yankees brass would tell every player on the roster to run hard to 1B no matter what happens. We now have had two plays just in today's game where a player didn't hustle to 1B. Yes, they probably would've been out anyway, but there's absolutely no excuse to not run hard and at least make it difficult for the opposing team. Just fucking embarrassing.

He struck out and didn't know the catcher didn't catch it

Doesn't matter. Even in little league they teach you that if you're not sure the catcher caught the ball after a K, you start running and then look back. If the catcher did catch the ball, then you just stop at that point. In the event he didn't catch the ball, you're now half way to 1B and have a much better chance at being safe than if you just had stood at home plate.

What's Tyler Wade's excuse on that DP?

Another wasted game that was in reach. The Yankees can't keep playing .500 for over a month and expect to even make the playoffs. Now there are even more pitching issues.

If the Yankees end up 65-37 after today, playing .500 for the next two months puts them at 95 wins.

I don't know if Boone has it in him to light a fire under these guys. I sense very little urgency from this team over the last month when they were playing .500 ball. When someone on the team makes a bad play or strike out in a big situation, they just walk back to the dugout like no big deal. Where's the fire? Where's the passion?

That was girardi's strength.

Well playing .500 isn't going to get it done in the American League. They have been playing .500 for over a month now. Playing .500
5e rest up f the way makes them a very mediocre team.

Also, that's a terrible mentality to have if you're the Yankees. Hey, if we go .500 the rest of the way we'll still get to 95 wins! The last thing you want is to have the players be content and feel like they can just coast the rest of the way.

Archer sweepstakes. They should get a lot because he is not a rental.

If the Dodgers get Archer...

Well that would be particularly embarrassing since it would mean that they'd have played down to their competition even more so than now considering they have a cupcake schedule for most of the second half. For the love of god just beat the bad teams. Stop overlooking competition. I get that the Red Sox are next week but the race with them won't matter if the Yankees can't consistently beat teams like the Royals and Orioles.

I'd be fine adding a bat like Granderson to fill in for Judge. I hate having to see Tyler Wade out there. Also where the hell is Torreyes?

Ronald Torreyes has been away from the game for most of July to be with his wife whom is dealing with a health issue.

I don't understand Boone's fascination with resting position players. Tyler Wade and Shane Robinson are starting both games in the DH, but Andujar, Torres, and Hicks are not? Dude, you're chasing a team that rarely loses. Put your best lineup out there.
