IRL I can't be a douche to folks. Whether I like you or I don't whether you rub me the wrong way or not upon a first impression I can't be a douche. Everyone deserves a minimum standard of respect, everyone even if you vehemently disagree with them on anything.

You bet your asses I taunt people online. Tbagging folks, taunting them with emotes if available, you name I'll do it. The one thing I don't do is send mean or nasty messages, I don't got time for all that shit.

No, I can't really be awful to people online. I get that the competitive atmosphere is part of the fun, but at the end of the day it's just a game, and I'll feel bad if I think I'm acting like a prick.

Besides, being passive and overly cheerful to people trying to rile you up has its own charm.

I don't t-bag or do other similar gestures, that's just crass and childish. I never trash-talk in chat.

Sometimes, though, I will use emotes (e.g. point-down or "well, what is it?" in Dark Souls) or quick-chat/voice commands, more for the comedic effect than to actually make the other player feel bad.

irl when playing a game of Fifa you can't tell me that you don't trash talk through your teeth. It's just how competitive spheres usually work, part banter and part trying to amp up the game.

I follow an age old adage when it comes to this: talk shit get hit.

Countless times I've seen shit talkers get their due, and I don't want to join them.

I'd do it one or two times then feel bad and never do it again. Unless I am getting taunted or am a target of some asshole I tend to keep quiet even if I can see someone sucks in my team or opponents' team. No point really, just making a toxic environment that helps no one. I also don't want to be the reason someone logs off and stops playing.

i teabag and used to shank them before it got nerfed though i still try shanking people in shooters

in nfs hot pursuit even as villain i would chase cops instead of the other way around, i like totaling my opponents

in runescape i would wear the loot of my opponents when they decided to look for me made it even sweeter

fake edit: it seems im confusing the OP, my real answer would be then "no". i usually dont like to use emotes/taunts in game because they are a hassle to use most of the times

Ive let my wicked side get the better of me on numerous occasions, and been on the wrong side of it as well. Don't much like it.

I love taunting! For Honor has my favorite taunts.

No teabagging though. Unless I know they'll find it funny.

Taunting in competitive games can be a great tool when you are playing against someone who literally reacts like they are in a video game getting enraged. A few taunts can make someone ignore everything else and continue rushing at you, sometimes dying multiple times in the process, just to kill you once and taunt back.

Outplaying someone who is taunting you is the most satisfying thing though and makes a win so much better.

I'm not about the senseless insults like insulting someone wether they're good or bad like a lot of dumbass people do.

However I am about laughing at people who talk smack and suck and taunting them. I push their buttons more until they quit then message them after laughing or just saying quitter.

I can't stand quitters in rocket league after being down 1 goal or teammates in Rainbow six Siege who try to coach you or berate you for not winning the round for the team. From then on I just troll them.

Some mild taunting is part of literally any competitive game online or off.

I play a lot of HoTS and if someone screws up a gank or something you bet your ass I'm gonna b-step in front of them a little bit.

There's a difference between normal taunting and banter and being legit toxic. The former is in good fun and not really meant to be insulting, the latter is something children do.

Not usually but there was one time in Fortnite I really wanted to but didn't have the proper emote. Somebody ran at me shooting and when they realized they were not going to win they started running and trying to hide. After I killed them I really wished I had the chicken emote set.

Normally though taunting just feels like a waste of time.

no, it's really childish. at most a jab here and there, but trash talk culture is just a stepping stone to toxicity imo, especially in anonymous online multiplayer. rocket league is pretty tame but it can get very grating and immature

of course among friends or irl play I feel like there's a lot more leeway for banter and good fun, but in online? basic cordiality goes out the window and it's easy for the game to fall to the lowest common denominator. like, yeah, you don't owe anyone politeness, but you'll drive away respectful people and invite all the dicks

For Honor Taunt shenanigans are a riot.

Also if a game let's me safely suicide after a round or whatever, I WILL launch my stupid ass off a cliff or ring out.

Only thing I do is teabagging. Don't think it's that big of a deal but people in OW get so mad so quickly.

Show me your moves! x 50.

I'm usually quite easy going. If I'm playing something competitive and the other team starts taunting, I usually assume they're shook.

I kinda hate when people taunt at me. Guess I just can't handle that sort of thing. I just find it irritating. I don't really speak to strangers in chat. If I do, it's generally only nice things. If I'm ever negative, it's because they throw the first stone. After that, yeah, I'll taunt if they're losing.
Yeah I'm pretty much the same. I'm there to win, not to piss others off. And I'm easily irritated myself with spamming of taunts/emotes. Also any kind of non-friendly shittalking gets really on my nerves. Like when playing a team game and someone starts acting like an asshole, I very often jump on them. Doesn't make much of a difference if they are insulting/disrespecting a team mate, enemy player or me personally. I still can't stand it and just ignore it. Otherwise I don't talk (or type) a lot, unless there's someone who seems really nice I might respond or compliment them just as a way to encourage/reward their positive attitude.

I do use (or did use) taunt in For Honor somewhat, usually before I engage as a form of greeting. I don't spam them.

Nah, I don't interact with opponents at all. I turn off any non ally chat, I never taunt or emote and when a round ends and you can still move a bit afterwards, i just stop and let my character sit there.
I never cared about taunting others and never will.
I also had to deal with aggression problems when I was younger and I don't want to fall back into shit like that.

I love spamming laugh in Smite from time to time. I think of it more as trash talk than disrespect. Plus it can tilt people and that can be used to a strategic advantage.

It's behavior like this that further convince me that multiplayer games are the most childish and some of the most toxic shit in gaming. It's one of the main reasons i don't care for multi tbh. Ain't got time for assholes in my life.

Usually not. I don't usually teabag after getting the last kill in a Siege match (I have a few times but not in a while), and I turned off chat with opponents in Rocket League because spamming What A Save! and whatnot at each other doesn't interest me.

I don't mind when other people taunt. I avoid doing that unless I'm playing with friends. What I don't like is trashtalking, specially when aimed at allies.

I keep trying Rocket League when it's free on Steam but never end up buying, because all it takes is me missing a save for my teammates to spend the rest of the match bothering me with "What a save!"

I play very few 1v1 games (unless you count Soulsborne PvP) precisely because they breed toxicity.

In team-based games I try to counteract all the people who use the chat to accuse the other team of cheating or spamming racial slurs by being helpful and answering questions in good faith.

It doesn't always work, but hey.

I'll usually say something snarky at the end of a CS match like this in all chat:

gg

Man, those guys stunk.

Ooops, all chat!

I once ended a round with Akuma's taunt in SFV, I don't think I'm ever topping that in terms of disrespect.

Edit: I also distinctly remember emoting at someone's corpse is Destiny 1 essentially being an act of war. Teabagging would just be countered by teabagging, but if you pointed or waved? Nah, it was on after that

Nah, I'm in my 30s and I'm not a dick. I choose to carry myself as an adult both on and offline.

That said, I don't think being flashy is disrespectful. So the OP's example of using the super isn't really disrespectful in my eyes. It's not the same as teabagging, sending people hatemail, or the other forms of general harassment some people in this thread seem to be championing.

Rarely as an actual "in your face", but if I think I can put an opponent on tilt and I should...

I play a ton of Splatoon 2, and if I see an dominant opponent sniper, I will taunt them by dancing in front of thier laser, "squidbag" if I can sneak behind them and take 'em out, and generally taunt and harrass hoping throw them off thier game.

I know it got in my head when I used to play chargers in S1.

I'll taunt in fighting games local for a laugh, but online it just feels arrongant and disrespectful - and has bitten me in the ass.
