New news new thread

Sad but I don't see black-ish lasting long between this and Tracy Ellis Ross might be dipping. But on the upside I look forward to him being unleashed on Netflix

Definitely sad news for black-ish and its potential longevity (though it's had a good run!), but having a massive Netflix deal would be incredible for Barris, hope it clicks together!

I mean, not even giving a pilot order for one of your top producers ideas is a pretty good way to want to get him to leave the company.

Yeah, I likewise don't have email alerts set for Anthony Anderson updates. It's the first I've heard of it, and it's really disappointing. I liked blackish.

Nah, no excuse in my book. Not actively looking at who gets accused, what they have done, and what the allegations are is bad in my eyes. Its burying your head in the sand and not putting the effort of recognizing how shitty these people are.

But if someone isn't even aware of the accusation to begin with... I mean shit, maybe you're privy to everything that happens everywhere at all times, but the rest of us don't absorb information through osmosis. Some things fall through the cracks.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Netflix will have Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, and Kenya Barris locked up on huge deals. Hopefully we see even better original shows due to this.

Are you fucking joking? Not everybody has time to actively look for possible accusations in Hollywood every day. What the hell?

Has Shonda put out a show on Netflix yet?

Gonna quote myself incase anyone is interested, here are her upcoming shows:

https://thegrapevine.theroot.com/shonda-rhimes-reveals-8-new-shows-coming-to-netflix-1827843289

  • A show about a fashionable young grifter written about in New York magazine named Anna Delvey, who conned New York socialites into funding her lavish lifestyle but now she's living her not so lavish life in Rikers Island, behind bars.
  • A version of the Bridgerton Series, which is about eight siblings set in the 1800s, turned into a dramatic series.
  • Pico & Sepulveda, a series set in Mexican California during the 1840s.
  • The Warmth of Other Suns, a book about the flight of African Americans from the Jim Crow South to the North and the West, that'll be adapted by Anna Deavere Smith.
  • The Residence, based off of a nonfiction book about the private lives of U.S. presidents, their family, and the staff.
  • Sunshine Scouts, which Rhimes describes as "darkly comic, ironic, twisty show about some foul-mouthed teenage girls who are trapped at the end of the world."
  • Hot Chocolate Nutcracker, a documentary on Debbie Allen reimagining the ballet The Nutcracker.

I'm skeptical. With Murphy especially. He has a tendency to get all the way up his own ass. And there's also the worry that Netflix won't say "no" to what they want to do, so Netflix won't be seen as "just like every other network".

Case in point:

A lot of this falls well outside the usual Shondaland wheelhouse. And we all know what happened the last time she did that... but good on Netflix for giving it a shot?

Man I gotta say it. Sometimes I love Netflix. I just want more scifi from them. Gimme a Mass Effect or a Super Metroid show about a space bounty hunter.

Netflix has enough money to be able to try all of these ideas and then just throw away what doesn't work either in the pilot phase (if there is one) or after one season and still be pretty okay. If like 2 of those Shonda shows hit, then it'll be a net positive for them even if the other ones fail.

People have jobs and shit. But god bless for being in possession of such endless disposable time that you are able to stay on top of every accusation and allegation coming out of Hollywood all day every day.

Netflix is rumored to be going after Levitan as well and I could very well see him jumping given that he said he's not reupping with Fox.

At this point their biggest creator is probably Adam F. Goldberg.
LOL they have a new show that looks like they threw The Goldbergs and American Housewife in the blender and let it run

Damn huge get by Netflix. They've been getting some good talent.

Do you have a list of people who are surprised about sexual assault allegations or something? Grow up, geez.
