What? Stove top rice?
I dunno, it's probably because we eat way too much rice, but I find it annoying to have to cook rice and a meal with an Instant Pot in succession, instead of just firing up the Zojirushi and having perfect rice.
I still don't understand people saying they use a stove top kettle.
An electric kettle boils water so much faster, why not just use one? They're dedicated small appliances. They're also cheap. It's the 21st century lads.
They're such bog standard appliances around most of the world. I get boiled water faster than a stove top or microwave, and then I use the water with my kaffeebereiter or to make tea. There is no better way.
more like 2-3 minutes.Only if you get the cheap shitty one's.
Any decent $15 electric kettle can boil one cup in a minute or less.
most of us use pots I think if we even drink tea, not kettles
Oh... that actually makes a lot of sense now, didn't know that.US power grid is half the voltage. Shit actually takes a long time to get hot.
I only cook rice maybe twice a week and just enough for my wife and myself. So rice cooker would probably be overkill for me.
I don't understand all the people shitting on microwaving water in here. If I need a cup or two of hot or boiling water it's way faster to microwave it than to heat it on my shitty electric range. I feel like some people don't understand what a microwave does.
wifi and cell phones aren't healthy for you eitherWho microwaves water? I'm absolutely sure that's not healthy for you.
Who microwaves water? I'm absolutely sure that's not healthy for you.

Yeah, but one is easily more avoidable than the others.
I'm drinking some cold tea with my dinner right now! That's the good stuff! That's ... how you do tea .. you brew it in boiling water.
Fuck that 'cold brew' nonsense.
Also, you would be surprised how refreshing a hot cup of tea is even in the summer. It's a great thing after work to revitalize yourself, and it doesn't come with the caffeine high or the need to poop that coffee comes with.
I live where its not what I would consider to be hot more often than not! Drinks are supposed ta be cool an refreshing! They're the counterbalance to warm/hot meals!!Do you live somewhere where the temperature doesn't go below hot? Warm drinks are amazing, especially when it's freezing outside or if it's raining in cool weather.
Who microwaves water? I'm absolutely sure that's not healthy for you.

i was joking, i am pretty sure all these things have negligible effects on your general health, including microwaving water
This. Stop spreading lies about us.
As an Asian, though, I do find it odd if your kitchen doesn't have a device that is dedicated to making rice. Preferably one that uses fuzzy logic.

what exactly do you think happens to the waterWho microwaves water? I'm absolutely sure that's not healthy for you.
That's how anything in a microwave gets hot though. The moisture inside things heats up.Who microwaves water? I'm absolutely sure that's not healthy for you.
?
I don't, it just seems a lot more out there than heating water any other way. What makes you think it would be less healthy than microwaving literally anything else?
So Americans:
-Wear shoes indoors
-Clap/Howl at everything in cinema
-Live in houses made of cardboard
-Microwave water
-Tip everyone they come in contact with
-Cannot drive manual gearbox
Anything I am missing?
Am I now an Americana expert?
I mean this.Coffee is more common than tea in the United States. Because of politics at the founding and because coffee grows nearby.
More households are likely to have a microwave than a teapot and microwaves do heat water quickly.
