I'd wager that it gets a summer 2020 release with PS5 releasing in November 2020. I think even Balrog has mentioned that the next one shouldn't take as long.

It will probably come on PS4 with a setting for higher framerate and graphic for PS5 (kind of like PS4 Pro support).

Definitely a Sony exclusive and most probably a next-gen title. I don't see it dropping by the end of this gen at all.

It's likely to be a technical showcase.
Can't see them limiting themselves to a PS4 baseline.

Yes, next GoW and Horizon will be used to push the PS5.

At this point there's a hundred games for PS4 you'd probably like. Just try sometbing new. While good, a single game may be the reason you get a console but it doesn't have to be the only thing you played

Though I still hope Sony is smart and makes it 1 game rather than 2. As in, you buy one version that works on both PS4 and PS5 in a manner not unlike PS4/Pro.

My bet is on cross-gen. If I remember correctly, Cory Barlog said the timeline for creating a second game is much, much shorter now that the foundation has been laid by the first game.

Then again, I also don't think we'll see a PS5 until 2020 at the very earliest. I could see God of War 2 being cross-gen at PS5 launch.

Yes. God of War 2 ain't coming out before fall 2020 and that's one admirable thing Sony is known for, they let their titles breathe between releases.

Next GoW should be PS5 but I'm sure this current GOW will be pushed to the PS5 due to the dynamic resolution and performance modes. Same for Horizon Last of Us 2 and etc.. Everything from the ps4 will be backwards compatible with the ps5 most likely since both share the same x86 architecture

I wouldn't be surprised if it was what I expect a lot of games to be in that timeframe, a PS4 Pro minimum, improved on PS5-type thing. I expect MS will do similar things. It just makes sense at this point.

Maybe it's a spring 2021 game (3 years is hopefully enough time), so I think it could be cross-gen.

Definitely. Next-gen is going to be a lot harder for Sony in terms of competition and they'll need their first party to succeed. GoW is probably their 2nd biggest IP.

Its likely any major 1st party title that is not announced already is a PS5 title.

No chance its cross gen if it releases after PS5's launch (which it will). Sony makes their exclusives to push hardware, a cross gen release won't get people to upgrade. Smaller titles ala LBP 3 and Resogun are the only real cross gen candidates.

I'd be highly surprised if it's playable on PS4
