OnLeaks has shown a render of the Xperia XZ3 and it shows a notch design!!!

http://www.xperiablog.net/2018/07/24/xperia-xz3-leaked-in-new-renders/

... on the rear :)

Hmm, Can't say it'd be something that would tear me away from my XZ Premium, but if the final phone looks like that it looks bit better than the XZ2. The single camera on the rear is a bit surprising, so I wonder if it'd just be the camera module on the back of the XZ2P without the monochrome camera, of if it'd use the new 48MP sensor.

Finally getting there with the bezels although a bit more could be shaved off from the bottom. And a curved edge screen too.

Personally that's about as far as I'd want them to go so it'll still give me a place to hold the phone one-handed. The edge-to-edge display taken from the XA lineup will hopefully be in this unit too. From what I've been told on other forums, the front facing camera and front facing speakers Sony uses are relatively large, so that might also explain why they need a bit more bezel around 'em.

If this XZ3 were to have the 13MP front facing snapper of the XZ2 Premium and the new 48MP sensor that would be a pretty desirable package I think. Then that would pave the way for the 2019 Premium to incorporate the 48MP sensor (or something like it) into its dual camera setup.

I don't give a shit if the specs are ass, the XA2 Plus is somehow still better designed than their flagships, and better than a flagship releasing AFTER it to boot. Is it really hard to make the XZ3 look anything remotely like this on the front?
https://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_xa2_plus-pictures-9268.php
I mean the bezels on the ZX3 are still bigger on the sides because its curved, where as oj tje XA2 Plus there are NO side bezels, its notnjust cause its a press render.
https://m.gsmarena.com/alleged_360d...eria_xz3_show_a_single_camera_-news-32403.php
See how the XZ3 curves on the sides? Still pretty big bezels. Now look here during the last minute:
https://youtu.be/XuiF1KkiS-c

XA2 Plus, flat panel, no side bezels whatsoever. Not to mention Sony's boxy design works better with a non curved rectangular 18:9 screen than the ovaloid 18:9 most OEMs use.

Crap, I didn't realize Google Voice stopped doing Sprint voicemail. Do I really have to go back to YouMail?

I've owned my Pixel 2 XL for over six months now and it's without a doubt the best phone I've ever used.

A day with the OnePlus 6 and this thing is the real deal. Beautiful screen, incredibly snappy and Oxygen OS is a very pleasing skin (blown away by their custom options). Heard complaints about the speaker but it blows my G6 out of the water. Not a really big camera snob but the pictures are more than good enough for me.

Yeah, if I didn't want a top tier camera and didn't care about the notch, I'd be all over this. Unfortunately, these two things matter to me the most.

Don't really care that it doesn't have expandable storage and does not have wireless charging. The storage isn't a big deal for me because there's a 128 GB option. It is still awesome though to have access to 180+ GB on my current phone with the expansion slot. No issues with recording 4K/60FPS.

Trust me, not a fan of the notch either but the option to hide it works really well.

I don't know how that guy does those tests without any kind of hand protection.

Looked like he nearly sliced his hand when the box cutter slipped, and bending glass like that can't possibly bee good for fingers.

Anyone encountered overheating problems with their Xperia XZ Premium? Right now we have a heat wave with temperatures around 35 degrees and everytime I put my phone in my pocket it heats up like crazy and drains battery fast. Putting the phone on the table or using it doesn't drain the batter drastically at all. It's the weirdest issue.

Nope, no issues here. Odd that it only happens in your pocket. Maybe a motion sensor is being activated by an app when the phone is trying to sleep? Maybe try activating stamina mode or ultra stamina mode to see if it might be an app causing it?

https://www.engadget.com/2018/07/26/sony-xperia-xz2-premium-review/

Really don't like the design on this thing. The $999 price tag is joke

The design is definitely love it or hate it. I think it's a swing and a miss on a lot of fronts. Maybe that's part of why it's not being released globally, I dunno. In terms of performance and the camera though, it seems to be pretty top notch. I watched the Engadget video review and it really came off as bitter.

Will try, I'm also thinking it must be some app or motion sensor but don't know what.

First night with the Xiaomi Mi Band 3. It's serviceable. It's great if you take into account it has only cost me 24 Euro on Aliexpress. Apparently I sleep better than 97% of the other Mi Band wearers, surprising since it was like 25 degrees Celsius last night and it's not really been comfortable. All in all just happy to have my stand reminders and notification buzzes on my wrist again.

Certainly still missing the Apple Watch though, I simply don't understand why there's not a single alternative to even approach it on Android. There's some that rival it in some areas, but there's not a single one with a proper package. You're either stuck with Bixby, or stuck with low resolution, or you have the fitness watches that have no apps and limited notification capabilities... or you have to go Wear OS with all its flaws and very average fitness capabilities.

Did you pick the global version or the China version? Up until very recently just the Chinese version (with English) was available, and AFAIK it doesn't play along really well if you have your phone configured in something different than English or Chinese.

It's the Chinese version, it's in English, so is my phone, but even when I set the phone to Dutch now the band remains in English.

-edit: Actually, that's not true, it switches to Chinese when I open the app. But as I said, my phone is in English, so that's not an issue for me personally.

Interesting, some time ago I read that it would default back to Chinese if the phone was in any language different than English so managing it was a chore. I might consider it if I get impatient but then again, there's an official MI store in my city and that means the official price will most likely be lower than resellers on Ali when the global version arrives here and I won't have to wait 2-3 weeks. Thanks anyway!

I'm having strange issues with my Nexus 5. Sometime yesterday my touchscreen started acting up. Randomly registering inputs, opening and closing apps in rapid succession or opening and closing the drop down menu. In the end all I could do was reset the whole thing. Which appeared to have fixed the problem... until it started acting up again today and worse than before. I couldn't even shut it off, just restart and then it started to randomly input numbers, I barely manged to get the sim card out before the thing would have locked it because of incorrect pin input...
Anybody here an idea what I might do to fix it or do I have to get a new phone?

The Nexus 5 is almost 5 years old at this point, it served you well and I think it's time for a new phone. If you're handy maybe you can try prying it open and making sure the screen flex cable is correctly attached.

Gotcha, gotta wait for the Global version then :)

Like what we're you using on an apple watch that gear s3 or Google watch doesn't offer?

I never used the voice commands on my gear s3, so that never bothered me. The app selection is lacking though and it's huge and not practical for exercise.

Currently just using the xiaomi amazfit bip which I got for like $60.

Weeks long battery, always on eink kinda display, GPS for running. Does notifications well

It is as I said, there's no device that rivals the Apple Watch in every aspect that device delivers on. If you have ever owned and used both a Wear OS device and an Apple Watch, you would probably understand the difference in level between Wear OS and Apple Watch. I'm hoping Wear OS catches up someday.

And no, Bixby is not on Siri's level, and while Siri is not on Google Assistants level (even though Siri Shortcuts is gonna put it back in the game), it does have areas where it outperforms Google Assistant to this day, in particular when it comes to Homekit versus Google Home. But contrary to Wear OS, I have full faith Google will catch up there sooner, rather than later.

The Gear S3 comes closest to what I want, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Samsung announces next month, but if I can't get Google Assistant on it, I fear it's a big loss on that.. As well as seeing if Wear OS is getting an update. For fitness, I am good with the Xiaomi Mi Band for now, but ideally I go back to a full smartwatch sooner, rather than later. For instance, I leave my phone on the living room table all the time when I'm at home, I utterly miss the convenience of being able to talk to my watch to control my smart home stuff -especially my hue scenes-, I miss my music and podcast controls (and I mean full controls, not just play/pause/next), I miss not having to get up to fetch my phone to get to my 1Password 2FA codes when I'm behind my computer in my home office. I also miss the sophisticated taps the Apple Watch does on your wrist (especially when compared to the awful buzz that my old Huawei Watch had, jesus that was horrid). To name but a few practical cases.

Thing is, as I said, there's good alternatives for just fitness. There's decent alternatives for getting the voice commands. There's alternatives for the controls and apps. But I have not yet found the device that matches the Apple Watch in everything, I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist yet.

Oxygen OS 5.1.4 released for OP5T. Updates to the July security patch. Not really anything else significant, but at least OnePlus seem to be making good on their promise of semi-monthly updates now!

I hate how the Pixel 2 XL forces a download and install of updates even thought I don't make it do so. It's Windows all over again.

No seriously, that's fucking ridiculous. Every other manufacturer are trying to make the notch as thin as possible to be able to hide it behind a regular height status bar but they had to go the obnoxious way.
