Character "Upgrades" that made them look worse

yup.Netflix's Daredevil original "costume" was so badass
The upgrade armored suit always looks funny to me :
for me it's just the cowl on the final suit that doesn't really look good. i wish they would either go back to the proto-costume or remove the eyeholes from the final suit.
The first time in my life I found this concept holds up. His human version looked weird.
I actually think it's great! You can't remove the eye holes because then you know he's blind? Kind of gives him away.

lol I actually also thought "but then they'd know he's blind" when I posted that. The way I see it, there are many blind people in NYC and common criminals aren't gonna think they're getting beat up by a blind guy. They'll just think its advanced suit tech or something.

Was like the worst thing ever. Most of the transmetal "upgrades" were terrible, but Cheetor and Optimus got it worst of all. Hell, it took me at least five minutes to find that second picture of Optimus. There is simply no cool art of it at all. That's when you know it is a failure, when deviantart doesn't even have anything remotely okay.

They're both good designs but yeah they don't really look 'related' at all.
I like the cowl.
The cowl works really well when watching the show but often comes off looking weird in stills.
I feel the same way about Nolan's batsuit from Begins.
The real reason it was a mistake for Sasuke to seek out that orochimaru power.
My theory is that the Curse Mark was trying to forcibly, physically manifest Sasuke's Susanoo - it's the only thing I can think of that makes this even mildly make sense.
I'm basing it on Susanoo's whole "muscular-skeletal manifestation" thing and how the Curse Mark seems to give people "monkey's paw on steroids" versions of what their latent abilities/talents are.

A million times this. I always had a theory that his arms would break off in a big fight and we'd get the old Franky back. Even if it happens now we have had years of this one so by this point it's kind of useless. Classic Franky was probably Oda's best character design. Plus he had a better personality back then. I liked his "gangster" ways. Better than his "look at how cool this is" Franky.
Optimus wasnt that bad. Cheetor Transmetal was cool just cat head hands were weird. It really really jumped the shark with Beast Machines fuck me they were awful.

This is all so wrong. The Transmetal 1 designs are when the show and the toys really caught fire and became a phenomenon. There is not a single TM1 design that isn't superior to the original. Transmetal 2 designs were mostly a downgrade from both the TM1 and original designs, though, especially that Cheetor, so I agree there.
But the TM1 designs are the gold standard of BW designs, hands down.
I feel like this is a troll on Oda's part and one that deliberately fits Franky's character. Franky is a weirdo through and through. He fucking *loves* what he did to himself and only other weirdos like Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper really appreciate it. It's meant to be garish and stupid because that's Franky (at least when it comes to designing himself, while the things he creates are legit cool).
Beast is a great example from a design and story perspective. He is decent at first if not a pretty generic secondary rider but then he just gets more and more bland. All that mayonnaise I think.Kamen Rider Beast

They tried to upgrade Picard in the beginning of Season 4 of TNG. It sort of changed the whole series.
Because they are completely American in design, the only ones worth noting are Wild Force, Ninja Storm and SPD. SPDs was received so well by the Dekaranger writers that they used it in future appearances.
I have to ask, why? The Battlizers are so lame.
The sparkles at least make sense though, they occur whenever Vegeta fights 100% for someone else. They first appeared when he blew himself up to try and beat Majin Buu, the last thing he thinks of before he does it is Bulma and Trunks.I actually like the new design a lot

Base Decade is already pushing it but then they put the damn Rider cards on his chest. I get that it's a toy commercial, but come on.
Blade? All of them look great, even if Wild Chalice is a bit of a downgrade from the Ace Form. Blade King Form particularly is a GOAT final form.
