I just compiled a list of titles I want to go physical and I feel special reserve is at a considerably slower pace than they should be

Especially considering they have devolver at there finger tips, and are essentially the publishing arm

Hotline Miami 1/2 , minit , crossing souls
Swords of ditto , the messenger , mother Russia bleeds , Titan souls ... I'm sure I'm missing some here also

They could have a consistent output of one a month, even very small teams can manage this

Well, I'm sitting out S&S PS4 now, here's hoping a Switch version isn't far behind.

I'll be pretty stoked if the mystery game does turn out to be Bastion.

Going to be upset if they signed this with someone after telling us no before!

I suppose. It lets people, like myself, not consider buying two copies because I'd rather have the Switch version... so I'm glad this information is out there before the LRG release. It's like CSH all over again. I wouldn't have bought CSH PS4 if I knew a Switch version was coming. I see how announcing a Switch release hurts the sales of PS4/Vita copies, but it's super deceitful to knowingly hold back that information until after the PS4/Vita release.

On a mildly related note, I passed on 2064 PS4 because the dev had said 2064 Integral was coming to switch physical through LRG... to this date Integral hasn't come out at all and sounds like it may not...

On one hand this is great news, but on the other this feels pretty shitty towards LRG. Doesn't this pretty much just cut the legs of their release out from under them?

Not like it's the first time, the same thing happened to Fallen Legion.

Did they? I don't remember anyone confirming a physical release for the Switch port.

Why does everyone think they're hinting at bastion? Doug and Josh said no at the E3 stream and then during the ROM stream after that. I've been bugging them about the Supergiant games for forever.

Oxenfree? Damn, thought it was Golf story or another actual exclusive. That's still coming in September, right, please don't tell me that Yooka Laylee of all things took that spot...

Someone here mentioned Towerfall and now I'm on a craze. It is probably my personal most wanted game at this point. And the fact they went on to develop Celeste makes it somehow match the description LRG gave.

Oxenfree for Switch ? Guess I have to resell my PS4 versio ;)

I would say no:

From Doug on Twitter:

"EVERSPACE is $40 on our site and for what it comes with this would normally be at least $65 from us. $30 Base Game $10 Expansion $15 Soundtrack (3-discs) $10 Physical Uncharge Total $65 But nope we matched the original price to please customers!

So forgive me if it upsets me that people feel "forced" or "inconvenienced" in getting a free 3-disc OST with their game. You are getting a great offer as it is. Be happy and show your support for this amazing developer! They are giving you a steal for all this content!"

I don't quite like it when someone orders one to "be happy" :p
The package is without a doubt good value, but any way you cut it : if they can afford to sell it at $40 that means you could theoretically remove the OST and make it cheaper, be it by only 10 or $5.
I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful but for me the cheaper the better. The only thing I'm ready to pay an extra for is a manual. I can maybe try to resell the OST afterwards, but I'm still sitting on a Skullgirls OST that won't move, soooo... ^^'

You are getting the soundtrack for free, there is nothing to discount...

If we removed the soundtrack it'd be $40. Base game and expansion are $40 digitally. Thought that was clear in my post?

Sorry if that comes off weird but I just don't get the mentality. It also has a manual/artbook.

Back in October 2017, an article from Gematsu blatantly stated that "MidBoss [was] looking at doing a physical release with Limited Run Games." However, I think Doug recently mentioned that the Switch port might be a causality trimmed from their schedule in an effort to clear their Nintendo production for newer releases instead of releasing a specific title for the third time.

MidBoss posted on their kickstarter that they were planning for 2064 Integral to be released through LRG. This was... I think in January

"___ is the best track from Cowboy Bebop."

Nothing is included for free.

If you decided to include the soundtrack and sell it for $39.99 it's because you thought that was the best option to move the most copies. It doesn't seem like a game that would sell very well for $40 + S&H on its own so you threw in a bonus to make it a better deal. It doesn't mean the game couldn't have been sold by itself for less or there couldn't have been multiple versions.

I'm not crazy about surprise releases/announcements due to budgeting reasons, so I'm glad I already played and heavily disliked Bastion. So skipping this one.

My spreadsheets can rest easy whew

Thanks for your answer. I still persist, I don't understand your reasoning neither. If you remove the soundtrack and it's still 40$, then that means the soundtrack costs nothing to produce, then you should distribute them for free as goodies during every convention you travel to :3
I mean, the motives behind your pricing does seem to be honest, so I won't insist to much.

Nice catch ! I was more hyped by Rogue Legacy and Towerfall, but this is still a very nice one ! Supergiant finally did the right thing :D

False. The game was originally going to include the soundtrack and based on how we price games we would normally charge more. So we decided to include it for free and take a hit to match the original deal. The base game is $40 digitally and it's $40 physically, I don't get the whole "ugh a soundtrack..." mindset. I believe in the game or else I wouldn't have even bothered. The game at $40 is already a deal from us without a soundtrack. Throw the soundtrack away or sell it if you don't want it.

Guess I should move Bastion up my backlog and play it right now to help me decide if I need a physical copy. I bought it on the Vita when it was $2 or something like that but never got around to it. Seems to be a beloved game. Nice get for LRG either way and I hope this can bring some more Supergiant Games.

Bastion is pretty much a perfect announcement for me for two reasons:

1. I really enjoyed the game
2. It frees up another GB of memory card space on my Vita that I desperately need!

That's where the difference in perception comes from. Since you didn't plan any standard edition, you're cutting us a deal by making the OST free, and that's true. But the mistake from our point of view is that you could have planned a standard edition in the first place, thus pricing it a little lower than the collector edition. Both sides have arguments, I guess :)

LimitedRunGames Just to make things more complicated: any chance the soundtrack will be sold outside of the game?

Bastion is an awesome get though and I'll happily break my "double dip" rule for it. Vita cases are small, the XB1 port was free and the folks at Supergiant are awesome so it's easy to justify.

This is true. It's a bad look when you tell us to 'be happy' about it, and try to convince us that you're doing everyone a favor. If it is a good value, it'll sell well, and everyone will be happy.

Sounds like you can buy some users here soundtracks.

I don't see how it's a matter of perspective if this was a standard Limited Run release it would be $50 for just the game and no soundtrack. But instead, we matched what BadLand did and broke our pricing model to help customers that had their version pre-ordered, there is no room to discount it further even without the soundtrack.

If you go to buy a car and the price is fixed, but they throw in a free set of extra tires. You don't want the tires, but prefer a better price. Dealer says they are taking a hit on them, and that no better price is possible. You know that tires aren't free.

Yes I understand that you are framing with digital prices, but many don't care b/c digital is PS+ or $5 Steam or no buy.

I get your point of view, but again it's $40 digitally and physical games don't typically ever go lower than the digital price, so it should $40 physically.

Yay for Bastion!

My thoughts on Everspace:

The base game is $30 digitally. At bare minimum this release was going to cost $40, because that's what LRG has been upcharging since its inception. They're also throwing in the expansion for free (which IMO is almost required at this point, very few publishers would ship just a a base game when dlc has been out for a while). They're also including a soundtrack to try to make the release comparable to Badlands' original slated release.

What I'm trying to say is you're not being ripped off. If you don't want the soundtrack, throw it out. Or don't buy the game. I'm not, but only because I'm not a fan of roguelikes.

LRG is so sneaky!!!!!

I've been asking for the Supergiant games for forever and Doug and Josh put up a great act about how it's not gonna happen. You guys are pretty damn good at acting.

In all seriousness though, thanks guys! Bastion and Transistor have been my most wanted games on disc!!
