Speaking of Picross.

I'm kind of amazed that after all this time, despite getting all 8 Picross e games, Twilight Princess Picross, Pokemon Picross, Picross 3D 2, AND just recently Sanrio Picross, we STILL haven't gotten Club Nintendo Picross nor its sequel. You could easily offer it as a double pack at this point, or make it a reward for My Nintendo & rename it to My Nintendo Picross.

Yeah, time is ticking for those to make it over as the 3DS is fading, but I'm not expecting them to, sadly. They could've easily offered them as worldwide Club Nintendo rewards years back when the service was active, would've been a cheap and easy localization I'm sure. Oh well. :/

Interesting random observation from looking at GameFAQs' Jupiter page: Not counting Picross S/S2 and collaborations with other developers, you have to go all the way back to the freaking Super Nintendo to find the dev's only other games released on a home console. That's nuts.

Picross S2????

Oh my goodness thank you lord.

Coincidentally, I just got back to playing S1 a few days ago, doing the puzzles in Mega Picross (I had never gotten the hang of it until now).

I'm grateful that tinyBuild continues to support the Switch, but some of its games just don't run well on the system. I played a little of Guts and Glory, and between the constant, 10-second-long load times between retries (of which there are many retries to be found) and the frame-rate issues, it's hard to recommend these games.

I still remember Mr. Shifty, tinyBuild's first Switch game released over a year ago, had framerate problems at launch and the devs had this to say when pressed on the issue:

Needless to say I'm not too eager to give these guys my money, especially since their Switch ports have become predictably sub-standard with each release. They're also averse to giving their games discounts on the eShop for whatever reason, so I've never even been tempted to pick any of them up during a sale since they're practically non-existent. Their loss, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was actually planning to do a PS4/Switch comparison of Hello Neighbor tomorrow, just to see how well that version stacks up.

Finally beat Bomb Chicken. It's the first game I've ever 100%'d, and without a guide too! Love this game, love the Switch.

So what's the point of archiving games instead of outright deleting them, as both options keeps the saves ?
I tried it on Celeste, thinking it woul keep the icon but put it last on the home screen but no, it's still first.

Ease of redownloading and your library will look massive with all those icons. Do wish arvhivrd game would automaticly not show up on the homescreen though.

Iconoclasts.

Dead Cells.

Okami HD.

Cosmic Star Heroine.

And that's completely disregarding my mild interest in Crossing Souls and Salt & Sanctuary.

Oh, and I still haven't finished Hollow Knight nor Yoku's Island Express. Also got Pool Panic left to play. And Lumines. And DK's Adventure in Mario + Rabbids. And Mario Tennis Aces. Haven't touched Owlboy, which I got at a discount a couple weeks ago.

This is fucked up.

Same. Switch is insane. It's difficult to keep up.

I can also confirm this impression. The game really is cool and refreshing for a puzzler.

Have fun with the game.
I want to get back to it but i need to finish bomb chicken first. xD

+1. Semblance is way more fun than Bomb Chicken. Less stressful and more open-ended and free-form.

Sooo hyped for Iconoclasts and Cosmic Star Heroine. Also, Hyper Light Drifter around the corner just reminds me I have to beat Kamiko with the 3rd character.

Curious about Picross, but never played it and not sure where to start. Is there a good demo?

Game of the Day

spmy4vcbraw5kpmik9vslozeac.jpg

Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast and the DLC Whistleblower. Explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the "research and charity" branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy… until now. Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Continue to explore the dark world of the Murkoff Corporation with the included Outlast: Whistleblower DLC. You will play as Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who emailed journalists around the world - including Miles - at the beginning of Outlast. Spending a couple of weeks at Mount Massive, during which he was unable to even talk to his wife and son thanks to strict security protocols, Waylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-motivated scientists and doctors leading dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Identifying with those poor souls fueled Waylon's anger, and set the stage for his unmasking of Mount Massive's rotten core. Although Whistleblower tells the story that led to Outlast, it will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum's story.

Outlast and the Outlast: Whistleblower DLC is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

Features:
  • True Survival Horror Experience: You are no fighter - if you want to survive the horrors of the asylum, your only chance is to run... or hide
  • Immersive Graphics: AAA-quality graphics give players a detailed, terrifying world to explore
  • Hide and Sneak: Stealth-based gameplay, with parkour-inspired platforming elements
  • Unpredictable Enemies: Players cannot know when - and from where - one of the asylum's terrifying inhabitants will finally catch up to them
  • Real Horror: Outlast's setting and characters are inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity

During my Hand of Fate 2 playthrough, the game crashed during a fight...
I really hope a patch will come quickly. There are also some visibility issues when playing the game in handheld mode, making it a little hard to read some cards in some circumstances (ex: during "The Emperor", the game board is rather vast, making it difficult to read some cards).

What's the cheapest place to grab Japanese eShop cards from? I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times by now but I can't seem to find that info anywhere. Thanks in advance.

You can zoom in on the map with... y I think.

There is a zoom which only reveals nearby cards. I had some cards were revealed on the board, and the whole zoomed-out board was difficult to read.
EDIT: We can move the camera after using Y. My bad then.

Oh. Version 1.0.1 downloaded.

I just have to start wondering how much most of these games can still make. I imagine most games -regardless of quality- don't get past 5-10k sales. There are just too many quality releases (especially considering the install base, which is still fairly small) coming out every single week and many people don't even buy games from the eshop.

I really would like to see some sales numbers for some of the more recent releases, games like Bomb Chicken, Just Shapes and Beats and Yoku which just hovered around the 20th place on the charts.

Oh shit, Minit! Don't miss out on the game, it's brilliant! I played it halfway through on PC then stopped when I heard it was coming to Switch. Seriously, it's fantastic!

Curious about Picross, but never played it and not sure where to start. Is there a good demo?

If you have never played a picross game before you should have many options to give this puzzle type a try. There are picross game demos on Steam, the 3DS has some free Nintendo picross games IIRC, I'm pretty sure smartphones have gadzillions of free picross games to try, and I think Win10 even has a picross game that may be downloaded for free. As for a demo for this particular picross game on Switch? That should be readily apparent by checking the eshop. Hope that helps.

Probably will pick up Picross S2 first once I'm done with Octopath Traveler. Interested in Pool Panic and Minit as well.

I cannot wait for Hyper Light Drifter despite knowing next to nothing about it bar how it looks and how it sounds. Like Fez, I spent two years listening to its soundtrack before finally getting my hands on it.

It's a really nice game. I've beaten it and it was a joy. It's fast, it's fun and I love the way the plot is presented (no text, very subjective, you have to figure things out yourself).

The complaints I heard were mostly related to it's difficulty, but I honestly didn't find it very hard. You just learn the patterns of how your enemies attack and go for it.

Is the Switch port confirmed 60fps? When I played it on PC, the 60fps patch had already hit, but I heard the game wasn't so hot when it was 30fps. It's one of those games where the action has to flow as smooth as possible.

It is a great game. Awesome soundtrack, really nice combat, excellent mood. They patched it a bunch since release and it is a lot more balanced now.

I really hope revamp the eshop look soon, so many great games could easily get missed in the current format (Unless you check this thread of course)
