I bought this on Steam during a really good sale. The feel of the combat is very much like DS, but in 2D. That is, it's weighty, where in something like Hollow Knight you feel a bit snappier.

FUCK YES! I'm in for the physical no question.

This is probably my second most wished for switch port at this point. Now I just need Risk of Rain to get ported...

Love this game, I highly recommend it to those who have not played. It's Souls mixed with 2d metroidvania, executed very well.

So is this game good ? Cause it sure does look rad as hell...

It is almost overwhelmingly derivative of Souls, to a level that would make games like Nioh blush. But it's fun and there's a fair amount of content. The biggest issues with it are the really, really bad character designs and a somewhat disappointing lack of variety in terms of level design.

It's worth playing, though.

Man im starting to miss the 3DS/WiiU eShop days...where you would get a nice indie title once a month and would be okay for the next couple weeks.

On Switch im already on a big indie backlog - i always wanted to try this game.....but ill go for Dead Cell first.

It's extremely good. I've dubbed it "Casoulvania" rather than a "Metroidvania" because it combines elements of Castlevania and the Souls series. It's basically 2D Dark Souls, complete with shortcuts, Salt = Souls, etc.

Also, it has a Path of Exile/Final Fantasy X style character building tree:

It looks intimidating, but you also pick a starting class that puts you in a certain place on the tree, which edges you closer to nodes that belong to that class. You can cross-class into other skills and stats.

Oh shit. I really enjoyed the couple of hours I played of this on PC, even if the dodging mechanic does not translate as well to 2D.

Definitely picking this up eventually though. I was always surprised it was never more popular.

There's legit too many good indie games released on the switch this summer that it's impossible to keep up. I wonder if they'll eat into each others sales.

Platinumed on PS4, will probably pick this up again once it goes on sale, such a great game and definitely worth playing for anyone who loved Hollow Knight.

Does it have a lot of exploration or is it more focused on combat?

After Hollow Knight I would like some more action.

Both really, though there is more variety to combat since there are tons of spells and weapons with different movesets.

There isnt a map though, which can make exploring the metroidvania style world very frustrating. One of those things I felt they carried over from Souls that doesnt actually translate well to a 2D game, especially given the art style. It can be extremely confusing to navigate.

This game looks cool but the art style puts me off so hard, I remember one with furries on xbox 360 that gave me the same feeling

Hearing it's like Dark Souls is actually a turn off for me. I know it's a franchise a lot of folks adore, but it just never appealed to me. I could be wrong, but the series always felt like it doesn't respect the players time and you could lose progress easily.
I don't even like Souls and I like this one. It's actually easier to keep progress in this compared to Souls. It has gold and salt separated and the gold penalty on death is only 10%. The way leveling works is when you spend salt to gain a level you get a skill point token that you can use whenever you want, so you can spend your salt now and decide later what to increase. The level design is also generally good about putting sanctuaries near bosses so there's not much of a run back to try again.

Both. It's very much 2D Souls where you're given a bit of leeway to explore optional areas and enter mandatory areas from various ways. There is no minimap and there is no in-game map, so you're going to have to memorize where everything else. There's a ton of action.

Glad they announced a physical version right off the bat, I know a lot of devs and publishers don't have that luxury but it's nice to already be assured that one is coming.

One of my favorite indies released for the Vita, I hope Switch owners don't sleep on this.

Shit, the Switch is quickly becoming my go-to indie platform.

There's easily $80 worth of indies that I need to buy coming out or currently out on the damn thing.

Physical?

I might buy it when it comes it out if I have some space on my backlog. Right now, I can't possibly buy more games. It's insane.

Neat.
I tried playing this on PC and it never worked for some reason, so I returned it.
