Yea i cant be bothered with giving the last boss a 2nd attempt so i just youtubed the ending. I didnt think it was worth it tbh.Another day, another fail at trying to beat the end game boss lol. Something about this boss, man, it just isn't clicking for me like all the others have.
Hopefully tomorrow will be more successful.I ended up giving in and looking up some strategy tips - which definitely helped for the first half - but I don't quite have it down yet for the second. I was doing okay but then it broke all my buffs and augmented its attack and I just couldn't recover. Got totally slaughtered at that point. Honestly the most frustrating part of it all is just how gd long the whole process takes. I really really wish they had included a save or some sort of check point along the way. And I'm about 99% certain whatever post-boss scene they might have isn't gonna be worth it anymore at this point for all the dang time and struggle it's taken me lol. But, well, now beating it is just a matter of pride so I gotta.
I know, but I'm playing doing everyone's chapters in order. I don't know what were they thinking when they decided this restriction should be a thing, it's not like the narrative would resent because I remove someone from the party.
What's your team comp? Beat it last night on my second attempt. Refreshing jams and the Saving Grace Cleric sub-skill were some of my best friends.Another day, another fail at trying to beat the end game boss lol. Little bit confused. I just started playing and picked Cyrus. How exactly do I flip to a new character? I see them all on the map but some of them are on the other side of the world. Can I freely jump between people or am I now stuck with Cyrus and have to go through the other characters in the order of proximity to me on the map?
Nah fam. Olberic has the most developed character arc of them all. Also the best theme. He should have stayed in town and married the widow and raise the boy going after that dude is less interesting to me than the other paths, I mean if your King is dead you already failed beating up old ladies is an L upon Ls lol
Hear, hear!Therion is one of the least likable protagonists I've ever played. What a whiny, angsty douche. He's not cool aloof and sarcastic, he's just annoying aloof and sarcastic.
Also, ERA and GAF have complained for YEARS about how they have to put up with kids and whiny teenagers as JRPG leads and here comes swole 35 year old sir knight.Nah fam. Olberic has the most developed character arc of them all. Also the best theme.
Just beat everyone's chapter one, and off I got to Tressa's chapter two now since she is my main.
So, a few questions. Because that rpg anxiety is starting to kick in hard. What is the best way to keep the party leveled now? Tressa is level 21 and level ranges for others are from 18 all the way down to 11. Yikes.
Would a good strategy be to now focus on a team of four, beat all the main storylines and then do the other four? Or will that be problematic?
As for my secondary jobs, I am torn on what to give Tressa and Cyrus. Was thinking Tressa for Thief or Apothecary? And Cyrus as Cleric or Merchant? Although with Tressa already having access to wind, it may redundant? Plus Cyrus looks like ass as a merchant.
And for Primrose, scholar or thief? She has great speed and evasion as is, but she also has good elemental attack. Therion I was thinking dancer or warrior.
So far, my team seems to be:
Tressa
Cyrus
H'aanit
Ophelia
or
Tressa
Cyrus
H'aanit
Therion
Any feedback would be great.
I just recently acquired Cyrus, and I feel like he's an absolute necessity in one's party. Revealing an enemy weakness at the start of every single freaking battle is an incredibly useful perk, and coming with stock elemental magic that does damage to all enemies by default... I mean what else could you really ask for, especially in the early game.
Yeah he's great, I ended up not rolling with him in Chapter 2s. You can learn all his skills fairly quicklyly, including analyze once you get his Job for others. Then, the only things you're missing is that ability to reveal one weakness at the start which is real nice.
Also great is Powering up Analyze to Lv.2 on the first turn and revealing two weaknesses at the start.
Wait, that's a thing?! Mind blown. Shit I learn every day about this game.
Now that I know Analyze can be powered up to reveal multiple weaknesses, going to slap it on Ophelia and use her as my main mage. Thanks for the tip

Yeah, haven't beaten his Chapter 4 yet, but his Chapter 2 and 3 are excellent. Don't sleep on Olberic folks.I was really surprised by how much I liked Olberic's story. He was one of my last pickups and while I thought his chapter one was kind of eh, 2,3, and 4 were some of the best in the game.
would not have thought of this since entering every other town prompt a story choice thanks
So what's everyone's team looking like?
Primrose (Main)
Olberic
Ophilia
Rotating (Currently Tressa)
I just finished all the original chapters, and now I'm struggling to keep motivation to continue. I just feel this void in the game - all the little stories feel too simple, and now I can go anywhere but the next chapters are too high level, and I haven't avoided a single fight up to this point. I think I'm getting tired of random encounters in games after all these years, and am unable to keep motivation to explore these places. The lack of a main story is really making it feel like a slog, which is a shame because I love how it looks and the battle gameplay is fun, it's all so polished. Really struggling with this one.
I have no idea what to subclass Cyrus as. I did dancer just to get SP regain but now I have no idea what to do, I don't need him as Dancer because I got Prim.
Currently
Cyrus / ???
Primrose / Cleric
Tressa / Thief
H'aanit (or Olberic, haven't decided yet) / ???
If the character isn't in your party when you enter the town, you won't be promoted.

Yeah, this is why I think its okay to take under leveled characters into places where they "don't belong". As long as you have 1-2 characters who can deal damage, you can just take along some low level guys and just have them analyze and chip away at Weaknesses while your 1-2 leveled characters do all the damage upon break. I have two guys 10 levels under when I started Ch.2, but they did just fine with this strategy.
You don't really need to sit there and keep everyone leveled at all times. This game is different than most JRPGs, your underleveled guys have plenty of things to do in battle so that they're not useless just because they can't deal damage.
I'm not crazy for save-scumming up to 5-7 times to steal certain 3-8% weapons am I?
WHY WON'T THIS OLD WOMAN LET ME STEAL HER OVERPOWER DAGGER!? WHY DOES THIS OLD LADY HAVE SUCH A POWERFUL DAGGER!?
46 is the danger level but really its all about the gear.what level is chapter 4 since I am seeing level 40 required for chapter 3 right now my top Traveler is only level 29 T_T
wtf why 40 to continue my story

Job Combination Suggestions for Cyrus
- Scholar / Cleric: Equipping Scholar Cyrus with the Cleric is a job combination that will essentially turn him into a powerful archmage - or at least one that'll tide you over until you can unlock the Sorcerer Advanced Class. This opens Cyrus up to Holy/Light elemental Magic, plus healing.
- Scholar / Dancer: Cyrus will get a boost from the Dancer class giving him higher speed, evasion and crucially elemental attack - and when enemies aren't susceptible to a specific weakness, he can instead double down on buffs or debuffs for either himself or other party members through the Dancer's abilities. The Dancer also has a great passive that restores SP, ideal for Cyrus.
- Scholar / Merchant: A great class if you're all-in on Cyrus' magical abilities for one reason: the Merchant has the incredible Rest ability. It costs 0 SP and spends your turn to restore HP, SP and Heal Status Ailments - meaning you can always be fully loaded for a magical onslaught. The Merchant also grants some decent bonuses to Elemental Attack, Defense, HP, and SP.
