Is it me or have the C18 spoilers been super underwhelming thus far?

So many gimmicks and so much jank.

Planes walkers are a giant pain on the ass to deal with because other than attacking them there isn't really alot of hate for them.

For example most of the wraths destroy creatures / enchantments artifacts, but in commander there are far too few destroy each non land permanent.

They've been better at this recently, but often clearing the board of everything undoes all the work you've done too.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the turns you just can't stop the planes walker deck from going off, a quick deepglow skite on a elspeth or narset just fucking sucks, and since most people use atraxa she is great at protecting the planes walker and upping the loyalty count even quicker.

A 4/4 flying death touch isn't easy to get through to hit their planes walker.

If course this isn't the only dumb shit that happens in edh, but one of them.

My rule of thumb edh wise is dont let anyone have access to too much mana or the game will end pretty quickly from there. Of course if your the Armageddon deck you get hated on, but someone really should be the answer deck in every edh game, or it's just a race to combo land.

Um... sounds like Commander to me

That depends on your playgroup's power level.

Deepglow Skate, Chain Veil, Oath of Teferi, Ajani Unyielding, Doubling Season (if you're evil) My Planeswalker deck frequently gets 3+ emblems.

So I guess your playgroup is fine with your mid- to late-game turns taking 15 mins or longer?

Umm just being able to attack them is more than enough hate and unless someone floods the board with a superfriends deck, it's usually not an issue.

With the PWs that stick around. The best PW for that is surprisingly Jace AoT and lil Karn.

Also running Darksteel Citadel, Cascading Cataracts and Darksteel Ingot so they live through it and As Foretold.
For a moment I was considering running Trove of Temptation since it generates treasures and is and enchantment.

The PWs I run almost all generate mana too. Jaya Ballard is absurd in the deck.

And reprints of Enchantress's Presence, Hydra Omnivore, Spawning Grounds, and a couple of the existing umbras from Rise of the Eldrazi.

The Bank deck in general is already more exciting to me than the first two. Arixmethes is such an awesome, overdue card, and Kestia is an interesting Commander with the way she gets around the tax.

So about Arixmethes. It does not count as the land for the turn, right? When it becomes a creature (and is no longer a land) it can still tap for mana, right?

Yes and yes. You cast it, then put the counters on it, then it's a land. The Mana tap ability is permanent and doesn't care if it's a land or a creature.

Wait, can you play Arixmethes as a land? I thought card text didn't work that way.

No, you cast it as a creature and it becomes a land when the counters hit. Ramp cityyyyyy

Oh boy, should I pick the Bant commander that draws cards off of enchantments, or the Bant commander that draws cards off of enchantments??? So far the most interesting commander in the Bant deck is the one that should be in the lands deck lol.

Ever-Watching Threshold is a really neat variant of the typical pillow fort enchantment.

I wish Nylea's Colossus gave trample.

Varina, Lich Queen provides a really great commander for Esper zombie tribal and yet I know everyone's gonna whine that it doesn't care about the top card of the deck.

How about the one that drops totem armor enchantments on your stuff and untaps them? Somehow that seems more interesting to me than a mana rock that becomes a 12/12.

Varina's cool, though unless they add way more White or W/B Zombies there's really no reason to dip into White for Zombies Tribal. Even when Amonkhet Zombies were a Standard deck it was mono-Black.

I mean I guess you could run Anointed Procession and try to make a Zombies Token Engine deck off it?

So I'll admit that I misread her first ability, thinking it said "target" instead of "each". That makes it a bit more interesting. Still, I'm not very hyped. I also think most enchantment strategies are a bit boring, but that is definitely a personal feeling and I get other people being into it.
As for the land dude, I think just calling it a 12/12 mana rock is doing it a disservice. One of my friends has an absolutely killer Patron of the Moon deck, and it is making the cogs in my head turn thinking of what you can do with a land that adds two mana per tap that you can always reliably get.

If you mean the English release in general, yeah, there were preorders and everything. It's just that no one is talking about it b/c it's a bad product with nothing much to say about it. I was suprised to see it in my local Target though, I thought it was LGS exclusive like FTV
