God damn, Starfighter Assault has no right to be as fun as it is. I just love pulling off some crazy maneuver, diving right in close to enemy capital ships and weaving through all their mess, only to pull up and blow the objective. Brilliant.
How are you enjoying the game? Are the graphics a step up from the beta? Playing on pro by the way. Tomorrow i wiil get the game finally:)

After todays new was willing to drop a couple of quid on EA access to trial the game, still not sure if I'll pick it up properly afterwards or wait til EA come out with a "real" plan...
Quick question though, I assume progress carries over from access to the final game should I pick it up in the future?

Coming off the first game, at first I wasn't feeling the shooting very much with this game. But now I realize that there's a learning curve with shooting and now that I'm finding my groove, I'm really digging the shooting mechanics. There's definitely a sense of getting better at the game, more so than the first. I really didn't expect that.

Also I asked a couple pages back but whenever there's an orbital strike incoming, it doesn't show you the area of effect on your radar right? It feels off cause I don't know how to get out of one.

I think the biggest improvement over the first is map design imo.

I also love that heroes are not tanks that can live forever.

Well look at that. I connected to the very first match I clicked on and went 26-8 with a couple captures and got to play as bossk. It was nice to actually hit targets I was aiming at. Unlike that other big name shooter who's netcode didn't work at all on launch day and still doesnt work properly.

Yeah, this is by far a better game than WWII. No quickscoping, you can play in third and first person, great hit detection and it is just a higher quality production in general. I figured I would have fun, which is why I kept my pre-order, but it is actually much better than I thought it would be.

I enjoyed the multi I played in Early Access, and had already preordered so was kind of "stuck" if I didn't, but I really am enjoying the game. It's been fun to just go in and be in the SW world for a couple games. I understand the progression system is not totally ideal, but I am sure enjoying it as a shooter.

Yeah, in terms of just playing for pure fun and geeking out on the Star Wars vibe it is top shelf. Which is kind of the point here, right? I am not even paying attention to the Star Card shit right now except for the ones I got as a pre-order bonus for Rey and Kylo and the game is completely fantastic. All they have to do is make the progression more appealing and it will easily be one of the best shooters on the market, microtransactions or not.

Wondering about the Jim Sterling video; how did he get all that weird shit to happen? I didn't see anything like that, and none of the reviews I read really focused on bugginess, if stuff like that was even mentioned at all. Weird.

That's an all clear for me as well. The game runs great. It's exceeding my expectations by a good bit, actually.

I've gotten myself stuck in certain places, but other than that the game has been running great for me.

Probably they will extended the deal for sure. EA is big, the SW license and big and exepensive, i don't see any other publisher willing to pay a lot of money to get the license especially when Ubisoft and Activion Blizzard (the only 2 big publisher) got a lot of IPs to work on and Activision is fine with their Blizzard IP's, COD and Destiny.
Perhaps, but if the Marvel deal is any indication, disney may now be going more in the direction if different publishers making games.

Absolutely nothing like that besides getting stuck in similar spots a few times.
Honestly probably wouldn't have been as much of an issue as that was if jumping was a bit better.

The beta now? Any time I flew a ship it was a tiebrator

I have played over 20 hours of this in the last three days, finished the campaign, did all arcade missions and have played all multiplayer modes.
The biggest thing that ever happened to me was that I got stuck on some geometry twice or that my friend and I joined a game with no players and no one else was joining so we had to return to menu and matchmake again.
I sincerely do not know how people get these crazy bug compilation videos done, I never see anything like this in games I play myself.

Actually really liked how this game handled for Luke's character in the story.

He had two lines that I thought really showed a mature and reserved character who is also still powerful.

Played abit this morning before work, good fun. Hope new progression system is decent.

Had a nice glitch where it didn't load any infantry models for a map so I was getting shot by nothing. Otherwise it has been smooth.

I never know my amount of credits to upgrade to a hero in galactic assault until one of the characters pop up. I think knowing your balance would be beneficial.

And I still don't get why upgrades have to be a "card". I sold all those before high school!

Been playing Galactic Assault the past couple of days, this game has some severe performance problems on a original PS4. I've rebuilt the database, installed on the internal hard drive and installled on the external hard drive and none of it makes a difference.

I'm getting frequent pauses/freezes during matches, not just on respawn. I've had the game freeze up for 3 seconds multiple times when getting close to a defense point.

Here is a video compilation of the stuff that is happening

I have Battlefield 1 and Battlefront 1 installed as well and this doesn't happen in either of those games.

Also, probably unrelated, the pop in is horrendous.

Man this game looks amazing, almost too much so. I get distracted at looking at the scenery and get murdered by my enemies on a regular basis.

So far I haven't really concerned myself with star cards and I seem to be doing ok and having fun.

What has gotten better with the temporary shutdown of micro-transactions? Progression is still a grind-fest.
Have to wonder if they'll speed up progression at all. I will probably hoard my crafting parts and credits for a little while and see if they do anything on that soon.

Agreed. The previous system was created to be intentionally unrewarding in order to push people toward microtransactions. With those gone it's pushing people toward...nothing. They gotta make a change.

I'm guessing theyll modify the crate prices sometime soon. 1000/700/500 maybe.

Btw for people turned off of Arcade mode because of the "credit cooldown" don't be.
So you get 6-7 credit rewards at the end of a mission before the cooldown sets in. That's 100 credits per mission.
But there are also a lot of challenges exclusively tied to the arcade mode that give you credits, crystals, crafting parts and for example Han Solo's bearded skin.
So you can and should still play the arcade mode even when the daily limit is reached because not only can it be pretty fun but you will still get rewards for it.

4400 or so is way too much for a trooper crate.

Played a few GA matches last night and a Strike match this morning before work.

Man this game is fantastic. It's really a bummer they screwed up the progression stuff so bad because I'm loving the core game. It feels and plays better than the first one but it has more depth.

The graphics are pretty mind blowing on PS4 Pro. Is it checkerboard 4k? Because everything is so crisp. DICE really needs to be commended for what they were able to accomplish, especially to get this running at 60 fps.

Going to be playing this game for a while. I just hope they are able to figure out the progression stuff and continue to keep future maps/heroes free.

Damn that's bad. I've had sort of similar hitching during the beta on a standard PS4, so it's very disheartening how it's still not smooth in the full game.

Could anyone else playing on a standard PS4 comment on performance?

My biggest concern from a gameplay stand point is the maps. I felt like the maps in the first one we're generally pretty awful. Have they improved much?

I really like them and from what my friend and I have explored, there is doesn't seem to be a map (in galactic assault) that only has say, 1 choke point to reach a point. Every point seems to have at least 2-3 different ways of approaching, sometimes these are a little hidden away but still.
We never were in a situation where our team just couldn't do anything and if you ever want to break a defense, use the officers flashbombs, they are fucking AMAZING

So far I can't say I dislike any map. Actually, I'd say the beta map turned out to be the weakest one IMO. The rest are decent so far, but we'll see if they have legs.

Easily the best mode in the game. I jumped into a game earlier this morning and I was doing crazy weaving in between Star Destroyers. I would love a pure Starfighter Assault game that has more polish and features. Hell just bring back Rogue Squadron.

Maps are much improved in this game. Only thing I can gripe about now is that there's no dark, wooded area on Starkiller base. ;_;
