I have a rough time playing this game on the Switch. The way I'm used to holding the SNES controller for X doesn't work well with any Switch controller option. It makes dashing incredibly frustrating because of the damn right analog stick getting in the way. I wish I could map dash to XL or XR but there's no option for that either. L and R are too small and my fingers don't rest on them naturally.

Played a little over half way through X1 on PS4 before I had to go. There was definitely some feedback issue for me when it comes to jumping and dash, I guess you could attribute it to the "mushy" PS4 buttons but I played through MMLC 1 and 2 with the same controller without issues.
Emulation wise the only irregularity I encountered was Armored Armadillo's stage in one of the "spike roller" tunnels the ceiling started going nuts with flickering and twitching. I don't remember that happening on the SNES but could be wrong.
I can confirm... you do not need to play the entire game in Normal mode to get the Achievements as long as you beat the final level in normal. You can play with a mix of easy and normal.
Edit: It seems I was mistaken... I got the beat sigma trophy which is different than the beat the game one....
CANCEL THAT
Yeah, listen to ten tracks or so. Beat X Challenge, listen to the new track that it unlocks.
Same with the art cheevo, it's description is abit odd. But you need to beat Megaman X first to unlock a wallpaper. Only then can you look at 20 images and change to that new wallpaper for the cheevo.
Waiting for impressions on those exact games as well. As long as they don't run like total garbage, I can manage, I just want to try out those games as I never played them.
I can't speak in depth beyond the intro stages for both, but they are a lot sharper than previous versions. I noticed no juddering or slowdown. Loads also very fast from movie scenes into level.
There's a zoom in on Zeroes face during x7 intro that on ps2 was kind of blurry. That is crisp now.
I'm almost never sensitive to the input lag issues that people swear are constantly occurring this console gen, but man, I just finished playing through X1 on my X1X (yoooooo) and it felt way wrong. Like, wayyyyy wrong. That PS4 Twitter comparison video that was being posted in the thread earlier checks out. Maybe I'm just noticing it so much because I regularly go back and play through X1 on an SNES (usually once or twice a year), but man, it just feels bad. My muscle memory on all the precise movement you can normally do in the game basically didn't work at all. Quick dash jumps, especially off ledges or up/off walls? Nah. An exercise in futility, my dude. You're not doing anything with both speed and accuracy anymore.
Oh, and the hardest fight in this game now?
You're not dash jumping and skirting back and forth in the air (errr, water), easily negating this dude's vacuum. You're not swiftly adjusting and clinging to a wall if you happen to land in one of the spike pits. You're walking around on the ground, very carefully waiting for this dude to stop push/pull you. If you're not on the ground when he brings the suck? You're goin' in those spikes, dawg.
Someone said that the PS1 and up stuff at least seems okay, right? Because I've lost pretty much all interest in even starting up X2 or X3 right now. :\

On inputs, knowing of all this lag, I only found out recently from watching a speed run that the original X3 actually ate inputs. Like yikes, add input lag to that and you got a whole nother can of worms.

PS4 version here. I didn't find that fight hard at all. Although I did already have Chameleon's weapon (one of it's weaknesses) at the time plus chest armor. The only thing I really had trouble with was getting the x-buster upgrade from Mammoth's stage.

The dialogue in Rockman X is a little different from Mega Man X so far. Vile has more lines in the intro. My Japanese isn't perfect, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it went more like this:
Vile: You idiot! Did someone like you think you could defeat me? You only have one life, X... and life is an important thing! Hahahaha!
Compare that to
Vile: You worthless piece of scrap metal, did you think you could defeat me?
Zero is different too. He doesn't make any mention of Vile being a war machine, and is a lot more blunt and even a bit rude towards X, although still encouraging.
Zero:
X, right now you can't beat Vile, and you can't beat Sigma. But if you keep fighting, you can get stronger. (the rest is pretty much the same)
But that straight up admission of X's weakness is way more direct. Ouch.
Does this game seem harder than before? I played Megaman X on the Snes over Christmas and had no troubles, but these bosses are killing me on this version.
Ok the X Challenge mode is identical between both collections right? Then fuck it I might just buy Collection 2. I don't really care about laggy versions of X1-X3, I have them on SNES. X4 still runs great on my PSP. However I don't have X6-X8 and have never beaten them.
So assuming the Challenge mode is identical (right?) then I'm going for Collection 2.

Yeah, I thought for sure I'd boot it up and not agree with any of the input lag posts at all, pretty much like I always do, but the lag seems pretty legit. I mean, I still managed. Still beat the game. It was still doable. X1 doesn't really require a ton of twitch, rapid inputs to be beaten or anything, it's just that the entire playthrough felt incredibly off. I did what I could to adjust. I used to always be a double-tap dash on ground/dash button+jump button for walls in X1 guy, and I switched to using shoulder for dash after a couple stages just to give myself as much of an input edge as I could give myself. Using either method, things like Mammoth upgrade ceiling and Mandrill heart tank felt very, very difficult. Iceless Jump felt borderline impossible. Just feels weird/frustrating to have it play one way for so long, then come back and have it play completely differently, but I'm trying my best.
...but then again, maybe I've just gotten old, haha.

So I finished all of X1 on Switch. Other than a couple of spots the extra slowdown is not really noticeable or very minor and definitely not a deal breaker if those of you are hesitant on buying this version. I will have to see how X2 and X3 are later.
Only X6 because that game doesn't have English voices. For X4, X7 and X8 it's always English audio + whatever language you chose, except for Japanese which has Japanese voices.

If there is I never noticed it I guess. Though there may have been one or two times I feel my dash input did not connect before I did a dash jump but I could just be getting slow with age.

Nope, difficulty felt the same to me. Sigma took a few tries to beat, but I put that down to me being rusty not the game being harder.
Anyway, midway through X2 now... 4 bosses down, 2 of 3 X Hunters down. Even more fun than I remember it, though some of the stages are really short (Overdrive Ostriches' stage was over before it began)

Holy shit so that's why that part was so damn hard. Yea I came to the same conclusion, jumping = suicide. Wasn't like this when I played the game years ago.
Sorry if this was already posted - My Life in Gaming put up a great video comparing the Legacy Collections to the originals. It's pretty comprehensive.
Did you watch the credits to the end? It unlocks at the post credits scene.

It's a good collection. You have to remember they won't be perfect. These are old games designed for Super Nintendo, and Playstation 1 and 2, and to be played of CRTs not HDTVs. There is always going to be some quirks. My opinion is it's a buy. Unless you are really into speed running these games or have access to the originals and a CRT.
Could be glitched then :/ but as on ps4 the trophy percentage on beating Sigma should be the same as completing the game. There is a difference for sure. Did you get all upgrades and hadouken? Maybe it's 100% completion.
I got the one with analog sticks and it still feels really accurate... the D pad is great but the ABXY buttons are awesome... I think I will replace the rubber parts inside with an old worn out controller for a more accurate button press feel though. Over all it feels right.
X5 will require either a guide or careful planning to get all eight upgrade chips. The gist is to waste time until you only have 9 or 10 hours left then start fighting the bosses (the ride chaser stage is the fastest way to waste time)
Yeah, I was also having trouble getting the Buster upgrade in X1. I thought it was just because I'm not used to playing X1 with the dual shock 4... but I guess that's not the case lol. Took me four tries just to get the upgrade. Everything else felt the same the same to me, pretty much breezing though everything else. On Sigma's castle at the moment though.
Now I cannot speak for every version...but;
I just played through all the titles from x legacy collection 1 on Switch, and I seriously think people are being ridiculous. These run more like the originals than any previous emulation or collection. They look better than they ever have before. I love that they retained slowdown in appropriate places. And I honestly haven't noticed them in inappropriate places. So what is it you think desperately needs to be patched? Am I missing something? I am pretty darn familiar with X1-4 and have even managed to do no damage runs of all 4 of them ( I was a major MM fan growing up) and one thing I will say is that this feels more like playing on the SNES/PS1 than anything except playing on original hardware...the timing is near perfect, and I would notice if it wasn't as I have them rote memorized, so I would be messing up a lot if the timing was off or there was severe input lag.
This is less about tooting my own horn and more saying that as someone who has a deep physical memory of the feeling of the first 4 x titles, these feel pretty darn close to the real deal. And that is amazing, especially on the Switch.
This collection sucks in comparison to the classic one. I can't choose every resolution my monitor supports, I can't choose or turn off the borders artwork, I can't rebind keys. What a disappointment! I can't even use my 8bitdo SNES controller to play the game with JoyToKey because the game detects the gamepad and don't let me configure it. Damn, Capcom! What a mess...
