Yes of course but can you blame the pizza company that only sells one kind of pizza ? Don't get me wrong, their pizza is great but sometimes you want a pizza but not the one you already ate last night. Eating burgers (optional dungeons) or sushi (side quests) is awesome too but this night you just want a pizza.

See what I am saying, it is a little more complicated. I am leaning on the conclusion that neither the game or the player is to blame. Each player does what it wants with the game and therefore experiences vary and are personal. The game designers can't design their games to please every single one person on Earth and each players have their own way to play the game (sometimes they can't change it, it is in their nature). That's all.

I mean it depends on the person. This isn't one kind of pizza. It's 8. If you find the stories, characters, and world interesting, it's no different than other jrpgs. Honestly, I am finding the structure no more different than FF 4-6. Just that it is more open in how you start the game.

They speak in a way that makes the world more believable.. Oh no?

Dunno, i feel having the people in Cyrus' starting town speak like that might be more believable than having a small forest town consisting of hunters taming wild beasts speak like that. Also, they seem to be the only ones speaking different from what i gathered?

It is odd that the whole realm doesn't speak this way.. But it's much preferable to the village bursting into "yo we huntin up in this!"

I find it charming and made her segment more engaging evn though what was going on wasn't particularly exciting. Seems really odd people were upset about it.. At some point in real history people talked differently.

They speak Middle English that is apparently pretty accurate based on what some have said.

The idea is that they are so isolated, that they still speak the way they did hundreds of years ago.

Oh wow. The final dungeon is awful. It's not even a dungeon, for one. It's also super long and doesn't let you save at all. It's kinda BS.

I got some things to say after beating both Tressa and Cyrus' chapter 2's:
I was complaining earlier about how strong Tressa's boss was as well as two additional swordsmen with super powerful Vaccum Swipes, Thankfully I had a better plan as I used both Tressa's Trade Tempest and Hired help (sword) abilities to not only break their shields, but also increased the defense of the my team. Alfyn's wind concoctions were super helpful too. Thankfully my plan to take out the swordsmen worked and for most of the fight, I kept Legtrap holding the boss and allowed my team to use their attacks to break Omar's shield. Didn't get that many attacks from Omar after going with that plan and only needed to heal once in a while. Having Alfyn with the theif sub job was perfect as I could use HP Thief to break down the shield twice without using boost points, use armor corrosive to weaken the defense and then use a maxed out amputation, Blizzard from Cyrus and maxed out beasts from H'iaant to land serious damage. I let Tressa finish the fight since I analyzed that Omar had above 100 health and Tressa used a double spear to win. Felt good after having difficulty before. I also got armor to built up the defense of the team too.

Then I beat Cyrus's chapter 2 afterwards and weirdly enough the dungeon felt more difficult than the boss. The dungeon kept having these enemies that had really strong elemental attacks that made grinding difficult. I managed to level up enough to get to Gideon and his fight also starteed tough when he summoned skeletons and they basically served as a barrier to anyone attack Gideon with his weaknesses. As the skeletons were in battle, any attack that would normally break Gideon's shield didn't work since the skeletons kept Gideon's shield from breaking. They even knocked out Tressa and Cyrus and that looked grim, but thankfully I concocted a revive for both using essence of olive and purifying dust to get them back at full health. Then I beat the skeletons soon after and Gideon could take hits on his weaknesses as most enemies do. Legtrap hold was another MVP as it gave me more time to break his shield and I only got a few attacks during the fight. I didn't use Tressa's BP Donate in her boss fight, but for Cyrus I kept donating BP to Alfyn since he literally had 3 weapons that made Gideon Vulnerable (Sword, Dagger and Axe). I'll give the game credit for not giving Gideon any weaknesses that Cyrus could use and instead make sure you had a party that had weapons or elements that would break his shield. Still, I managed to finish Gideon with a firestorm on my first try and the fight was fun.

I do wish Tressa and Cyrus acknowledged that their chapter 2 were in the same city. Cyrus was totally there to aid Tressa against Omar yet when I started his Chapter 2, he acted as if this was the first time he's been to Quarrycrest. I wish the bantar was more like Tressa thanking Cyrus for helping her save Ali and in return she'd help him solve this mystery of the villagers gone missing. Or have Cyrus ask Mr. Morlock if he knows anything about the disappearances of the villages. I get that would take a lot of work, but that was a little off putting that neither character acknowledged that their tales took place in the same city. Still, I'm still having a great time with it and want to do Alfyn's chapter 2 next.

Finished team rogue stories last night. I could be reading into it but it felt like

the dragonstones in Therion's storyare the keys to the gate mentioned in Cyrus' story. If so, I appreciate the subtle connection. I wonder if Redeye was a creature from beyond the gate as well as it was different from anything H'aanit had felt before. The only story I couldn't get any connection from was Primrose. It took a bit of a dive from chapter 3 where the ex bf was the mastermind, because what, he was just psycho? What happened to the whole "her dad learned something he shouldn't have and had to die for it" narrative? I don't think they ever explained that bit.

Anyway, now it's time to go and recruit team noble. I'm trying to do a "new game+" of sorts where I'm only going to use the other four characters, but with all the items and jobs I unlocked with team rogue. I feel like the first character will be the toughest since they will be level 1 while the area will be level 12 or something. Hopefully I'll be able to do it.

Only four more characters Chapter 4 stories to complete. Almost there....

Also chapter 4 spoilers in general.

Please tell me someone out there has saved all the amazing "FIN" screens they show and uploaded them somewhere? I missed like 4 of them and I really want them badly for desktop use.

This thread is huge, so please forgive me for asking things that have probably been asked. I'm trying to play as time efficiently as possible since long gems tend to get old with me after a while.

I just finished the first chapter for everyone. Before going on to chapter 2s, I'm going to nab the basic secondary jobs that I missed on my first time around the map. Is there anything else I should do before I start the chapter 2 missions? Are there any specific towns that have great gear to buy or steal?

This is a pretty open-ended question because you can technically "sequence break" and go anywhere you want, including Chapter 4 towns that have Chapter 4 equipment to purchase/steal.

But in terms of just sticking to Chapter 2 towns, maybe do Victor's Hollow first because there are a lot of good things to steal/purchase there.

Most notably, the Golden Axe in Clearbrook (Alfyn's town), in the bottom-left house behind the challengeable woman. 3% steal. It's the fifth-or-so most powerful axe in the game.

You're on point, progression-wise! All of the CH2 towns have a lot of valuable items that could last you much of the game.

Thank you for the advice! Younger Me would be all about exploring the open-ended nature of the game, but Older Me knows that nowadays, I seem to burn out on games after about 60 hours, so I'm trying to get to as much of the content as possible.

I'm guessing there are no items that improve stealing chances? That's all level based, right? The best you can get is a bonus from Scrutinizing certain folks, right?

Correct, it's level-based, with some huge increases from scrutinizing certain NPCs in certain towns.

You guys save your BP to get in enough consecutive attacks to break a boss or break him with regular attacks and then use the BP to pile on damage?

The more I play this game the more I realize that i'm not a fan of complete user freedom. I like the illusion of freedom, but still being moved along a set path. This games world design (which is bad) significantly impairs my enjoyment of the game. I'm moving from one area to the next in relatively short fashion all the while finding none of it is memorable. I'm over-leveling for no reason.

Depends. I only really pay attention during serious fights. But I'll usually use normal attacks and skills to chip away at the defense, then use the BP when they hit break status.

Either—ideally both—depending on the situation. If you're in danger or a boss is readying a powerful attack, then use BP on appropriate characters to break them. If you have a party of four, you might be able to capitalize on even those breaks with solid damage.

I almost decided my main party and its subjobs:

Alfyn: Apothecary / Warrior
Cyrus: Scholar / Merchant
Tressa: Merchant / Thief
Primrose: Dancer / Cleric

These are the characters that I like the most. To me, at first, this appears to be a good team.

I've actually got Cyrus and Prim in my party in that configuration. The other two I have are Olberic (Apothecary) and Ophelia (Scholar). Dual-healers (triple if you count Olberic) helps a lot, and two scholars together wreck faces. I also swap in H'aanit (Warrior) sometimes as well.

The amount of people complaining about the depth of field baffles me. Maybe I'm biased as a photographer, but using depth of field isn't a negative? Some seem confused as to why certain objects are out of focus.

It's weird. A lot of people really don't like artistic effects for some reason. It's like some people approach games from a technical perspective rather than an artistic one, so they question why they can't see something in focus.

To me the depth of field and corner shadows absolutely make this game and complete the art style.

I turned off corner shadows personally, only because of certain areas having a colored glow throughout the shadows themselves. However, it was minimal, and hardly worth any vitriol. With the amount of complaints, it makes me wonder what the same people think of rack focusing in film.

Personally I thought the color in those areas was an artistic choice, which I liked the look of. Made it feel hazy in a way that made sense.

I think there's a difference in film, probably. People have been trained with PC gaming to be able to tweak and to think of graphics in very technical ways that I don't think happens with film.

There are some monsters that do multi-hit attacks and I feel like they punch way above their weight compared to what the strength indicator tells you. I think I had one at 7 strength that did 3x attacks and fully boosted it did 3x3k hits which was higher than anyone in my party could do at that point. Some monsters do say they do double or triple hits, but others don't necessarily tell you that.

Just finished my first four stories and watched the credits roll. I'm sure this has been posted before, but
having the vignettes show up in the order completed, with the proper party / costume / summons active was really neat.

Looking forward to the next four, then an all-rogue and all- honourable game.

I understand that, and the games that do offer advanced camera options (usually via Photo Mode, like Shadow of the Colossus) are always a treat. I always figured certain elements were creative decisions as opposed to creative options, especially in regards to this game, but I'd be curious to see more options as this engine gets further use.
