Guacamelee! 2 (PC/PS4) launches 21st August

Late last year, we announced that Guacamelee! 2 would be released… "soon-ish." Well, soon-ish has almost arrived at Drinkbox Studios!

We're thrilled to announce that Guacamelee! 2 will launch for PS4 on August 21st for $19.99, and that you can pre-order the game right now at PlayStation Store with 20% off for PS+ members! Check out the new launch trailer above.

The original Guacamelee! launched in April of 2013. It's now over five years later and the game still stands as the definitive Mexican-Folklore-Inspired-Luchador-Platform-Brawler-Metroidvania! How do we top that?

Day freakin' 1. PS3 version one of my favorite Platinums ever to do and I will do Guacamelee PS4 to prepare for this.

Loved the first one insanely will surely get this at some point i have a ps4 aswell so if it never hits switch imma just grab it o there :P

I loved the original on the WiiU, but I have always had a weird vibe from it since the devs are Canadian and the game is....well, not really oozing maple syrup.

Will still get it eventually!

Chasm (July 31), Dead Cells (August 7), Death's Gambit (August 14), Guacamelee (August 21) surprised psblog hasn't announced some indie-Metroidvania promotion (I know it doesn't perfectly describe all 4 games)

Gah! I wish it was getting a Vita port, too. That's how I played the first one and it was perfect for the platform.

Obviously not going to say on the PS blog, but do we know if the Steam version is launching the same day or was some PS exclusivity time window announced a ways back?

As if we don't already have a ton of awesome AAA games coming soon then Drinkbox has to go and throw this in there too. Day 1 buy for me as I loved the first one and Severed. Too many great games releasing soon.

I loved the first one on Vita, but that 4 player coop on PS4 was a way better experience. Can't wait to play this next month.

The best month is gonna be fun on PS4 with all the Indiin coming out. I'm still only about halfway through Hollow Knight on Switch too. Gotta get moving.

The first one was a revelation. Probably one of the best non-Metroid Metroidvanias ever. Just played the super morose Hollow Knight, could use a goofy luchadore filled palette cleanser.
