Out now.

Motorsport Manager Mobile 3 di Playsport Games Ltd https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/motorsport-manager-mobile-3/id1346580540?mt=8

In other news I just checked and O_O I already put more than 18 hours in GALAK-Z!
Currently on Sector 8....which is pretty awesome (void runs, assassins, huge Mech battles). Sector 5 gave me a lot of problems, especially to upgrade some parts, but now it's all good.
Out of other considerations and despite the fact I feel not so many will look past the f2p aspect and play onwards, there is a serious game here and it's a pity imho only a tiny fraction of people will see it.
So many different enemies, each one with its own weapon loadout and patrol/attack patterns.

Picked up Waking Violet. Very cool puzzler with a lot of atmosphere and an amazing soundtrack. Quite challenging as well.

Can you tell me more about it?
I can't understand what you are going to do.
Same devs of forma.8 which I loved.

I need something that can un-glue me from Galak-Z (sector 10 now, it's super crazy and continues to be awesome). Void event is great too.

It's a block sliding puzzler (so far at least) but don't let that fool you as it's different than typical games in the genre. You have to use blocks to defend yourself against traps, trap enemies and figuring out how to force an enemies to get killed by the traps. It builds on the tactics you need the further you play and takes some real thinking. There is a rewind button that helps because it's easy to screw up and not have any moves.

Probably selling it short but the music and atmosphere is fantastic. Seems like it could be short but I doubt it will be as difficult as it gets. Easy buy for $2.99 IMO.

The Switch version is getting good reviews.

How does Waking Violet control on iOS? Swiping? v-pad? I recall seeing this on the eShop. I almost bought it, but then got distracted by another game. This does look like my type of game though, and now I'm just curious which platform I should get it on.

It has a virtual pad for movement.

Little off topic.

I remember long ago I posted something about how to get rid of the bottom bar (to swipe between apps) on iPhone X, substituting that UI with a triple finger swipe if I recall well.
I can't find my own post anymore nor I can find how set it up again (in my memory or in internet), I thought it was on the accessibility menu but....
Anyone can help?

Just realized that Galak-Z is on Android too!

Im so accustom to games like that being exclusive to iOS (either for a few weeks/months or permanently) that I didn't even check, haha.

Only had time to play it for a second, but it seems to run OK on my Moto Z Play.

Candleman was updated with 12 more stages and is on sale for $2.99. Enjoyed what I played of the game on Xbox One (admittedly didn't finish — too many other games). Think I will pick it up on iOS to have it on the go.

^ Awaiting impressions
Edit: It seems to have a Lite version to try, so downloading

Also, found this on AppSpy on Twitter. Looks great and i need a match-3 game , hope it comes out soon (great find M_B)

http://www.appspy.com/news/11743/interlogic-is-a-clever-matching-puzzler-coming-soon-to-ios

InterLoGIC Already available on Android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phime.interlogic.android&hl=es

Looked good. But sadly just read some reviews on Google Play. Sounds like it is ruined by very aggressive IAP, timers, currency.

Asphalt 9 Legends has been released.
It's a heck of a game, and I have had the luck to be part of the programming team. Some of the most talented guys I've ever met.

(maybe not up yet on all stores)
Looking forward trying it. Although previous ones was pretty much playable without paying, getting constant reminders thrown into the face to buy something etc put me off after a while. Is there some kind of affordable IAP "To rule them all" or is it just currency and energy? Would love a good arcade racer and mobile and honestly, gameplay wise asphalt is probably the best on mobile.

Still a lot of consumables here with an added "card" system to level up cars. Eventually you'll feel like you either need to pay or grind to win races as the rubberbanding from the AI gets out of hand. It's too bad as the game itself could be quite good (and really great looking) but it's again ruined by iAPs and fuel meters and other bull.

Too sad.

In good news: Arnauld Rauers aka tinytouchtales, the creator of card crawl and card thief, posted another good looking card game on Twitter. Though some around here would be interested as well.

"Mind Cards." von Christophe Coyard
https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/mind-cards/id1411999677?mt=8

Ah and it's completely free. No ads no IAP.

Gameplay wise it shares similarities with Card Crawl. You have a deck of card which gets distributed onto a 3x3 grid and you have to remove (play) all of them. Playing a card costs food which can be restored with appropriate cards. There are monsters which drain health, potions to restore it and skill cards. Finally, gem cards let you draw new cards from the deck onto the board and left over gems are your score which gets transformed into coins you can use to buy new cards to spice up the deck.

(apparently not up for world-wide launch, yet, but it should be really soon).

I do wonder if we'll get to a point where mobile gaming starts to take stock of its past. I've dabbled in the Asphalt games briefly, and they're okay... but I'm the sort of person who's interested in how games evolve and expand, and the early games have pretty much been lost to history now. I'd love to see an effort - and I think this is at a manufacturer level as well as a development level - to try to preserve the content from the earlier days, going back to feature phones. Mobile gaming's still young, but it's already discarding so much of what got it to where it is.

(I guess this boils down to "I'd be open-minded about a compilation of early Asphalts", but it's not just that!)

This is one of the crazy things I've started talking about at my studio which is none of the mobile games we are working on now will be playable in 10 years time, perhaps even less!

While we probably won't be in a position to preserve the games themselves without meaningful cost, we do at least have a few efforts underway to create a more tangible record of our works which will last decades.

Indeed, still quite painful to see all the gems that we've lost. I discovered today that an amazing game like Geometry Wars 3 (which was also an incredible port) has been taken down from the App Store while the game is still perfectly playable even on iOS 11+. Such a shame newcomers to the App Store won't get to experience these.

That's a shame really. Always wanted to pick that up too

I feel like bigger ports like Geometry Wars 3 always seem to have the hardest time staying alive on mobile platforms, either because big publishers don't see the value in keeping them going, the devs they had do the port went under or no longer work for the publisher, or they just totally go out of business.

Dead Space and Bioshock are two other bigger publisher games that are just gone now.

I loved the Asphalt games and still play 8 occasionally but, yeah, they have been destroyed with IAPs especially all the nagging screens. Just depressing.

There was Dead Space at some point?? The full game?!

I'd say better than the full game: an entirely original experience made by the talented folks at Firemonkeys (real racing) before EA went full F2P. This contained all the elements of the core Dead Space experience with a surprisingly good story and incredible graphics and controls at the time. Still one of the best third person shooter on iOS.

Still bummed I never got a chance to play it.

Hasn't been available for YEARS on iOS. I think it might have been one of the first higher profile iOS games to get dropped and lost to history.

It was a good game for sure but wouldn't say it's better than the full Dead Space game. I mean that would be pretty difficult to do with it being such a classic.

Definitely agree that the mobile game was and remains one of the best — maybe even the best — story based shooters on iOS though.

Oh sorry, what I meant was « for mobile » and especially at the time. I still prefer to get an original title on mobile built with touch in mind rather that an awkward port.

Of course the real thing was better but man, that mobile version was so good as well.
