The only risk is that they wouldn't be able to produce enough copies.
None of that really matters. It's a major GTA game. It'd do well on ANY platformI don't personally think it would've bombed. I'm theorizing their reasoning for not porting it, and that seems like the most realistic answer from their POV. I doubt they view the platform as a serious AAA contender.

Why would they release LA Noire instead of GTA V in the first place? Seems like a weird decision.
Too bad all future versions of GTA games up to IV will be missing music due to licensing.
To this day I have no idea if this is true or not but RDR code is a mess, that's the main reason that there is no PC port (I find it funny how in one of Take 2's investor meetings they were asked if RDR2 would get a PC port, people know that it would sell a lot, despite being released later than the other versions the PC version of GTA V still managed to sell over 12 million copies), so getting RDR to run on N/S would possibly be a big under taking that Take 2 does not want to do unless it will make them a lot of money.GTA5, RDR, Max Payne 3, Bully. Port em all to switch and I will buy them.
Does anyone honestly believe this is why they ported LA Noire instead of GTA?LA Noire's an older, smaller scale game and likely easier to port than GTA V.
Why weren't GTA 3, VC, or SA ported to the Wii?Porting games to Switch is piss easy. It's delivering an optimised experience that's probably the issue. That's perhaps why GTA V hasn't happened yet.
I would do things for a WWE All-Stars 2 on Switch.

GTA has sold hundreds of millions of copies to.... let's call them Ben and Jerry.
Ben and Jerry have had a longstanding golden relationship with Rockstar/Take Two for damn near 20 years. They've made hundreds of millions together. Ben and Jerry even pay the out ass for exclusive marketing promotions. Take Two/Rockstar is very happy with them.
But hold on, some guy named Simon enters the room. He's not interested in paying for exclusive marketing promotions but he sure would like GTA.
Now sure, Take Two/Rockstar can sell millions of copies to Simon, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to be the same level of sales they have built up with their Ben and Jerry fanbases over the years.
Ben would prefer that Take Two/Rockstar only do GTA business with him and reluctantly that other business mogul Jerry, and not have split his cut in the market with Simon as well as Jerry.
and to this Take Two/Rockstar say......
Yes
I don't think that would be the case considering the engine LA Noire use isn't RAGE.I believe this is the reason they brought it over. Releasing games with the "download required" disclaimer likely destroys sales potential as well. When the larger game carts are available, they'll likely release the high profile titles like GTA.
LA Noire let them get their engine in order, and test the waters where there relatively weren't a lot of potential sales to lose.
You view the games industry as more nefarious and with more backdoor shady deals than what actually happens in reality.I wouldn't hold my breath.
Here's the deal.

So from what I understand from your post, MS and Sony teamed up and paid Rockstar to not put GTA on Nintendo?I wouldn't hold my breath.

6/18/18Said R* has another game in dev after LA Noire. Most people assumed GTAV. Which is more than fair. Why this game hasn't seen the light of day yet I'm not sure, I've been told it's still coming.
Lol.2017 games sold well on Switch so here's . . . Carnival Games !
Why would they not include GTAonline, why is that an assumption at allI don't think that would be the case considering the engine LA Noire use isn't RAGE.
As for GTA5 coming to Switch, I doubt it. Their biggest money maker and feature is GTA Online and they cut off Last Gen to be able to make bigger updates and to lower the porting costs. I do not see them making a port without GTA Online because people would complain it isn't there and they wouldn't get any MTX money.
Who knows though, Rockstar is Rockstar so maybe they might decide to port it.
