ok again, it's not about people giving her a pass, you're not understanding how this works.

people giving her a pass in the past has nothing to do with someone drudging stuff up now and trying to get her axed from fake outrage

What i am saying is the fake outrage won't work.

People know what kind of person Sugar is, People know the context of what she did.

It won't work on her.

Wouldn't it be something if celebrities all over start mass-deleting their twitter accounts to try and protect themselves, hurting Twitter's bottom-line, forcing Twitter to take action and start banning these alt-right idiots. That's the best case scenario I think.

Watched it. It's pretty clearly absurdist humor mocking various tropes of horror fiction like Dexter which features the titular character who is a serial killer but only kills for righteous reasons.

Harmon plays a psychologist, Daryl, who struggles with a desire to rape babies. When he confesses this to a psychologist, the psychologist attempts to murder him--but is thwarted by the sight of his own child witnessing the act. When that psychologist is told by another psychologist that the baby must be raped to counteract the trauma of witnessing their father attempt a murder, lest the baby itself grow up to become a murderer, the psychologist approaches the titular character and proposes he commit the deed. It ends with an exchange between Daryl and the father. "I just wish there was a way to know every baby that was going to be a murderer unless I rape it." "Actually, there might be."

The joke could be told without literally showing him humping a baby doll, but this is indeed a tasteless joke and not an admittance of some desire to in fact rape babies.

What's up with Hollywood creatives & pedophilia.........

Considering the amount of people employed in Hollywood, you have to understand how far people are reaching to come up with even these examples. Where's the newfound outrage over Woody Allen? It's not there, because protecting children or punishing those who molest them is not the motivation of these recent outrages.

I used to love shock humour, still do to a degree, but it's much more satirical than this. Stuff like Brass Eye, The Day Today, Jam etc. Are some of the best comedy shows ever made. They all received their fair share of outrage. I'm just glad Twitter wasn't around then, it was bad enough as it was with the tabloids.

This has always been the case... Weaponized outrage culture has always been a tool of the Christian right around the world for hundreds of years. Think of legitimate cases of leftists trying to weaponize outrage culture or successfully doing it and you'll struggle. The right get outraged at peaceful protests, outraged at women in gaming, outraged at movie directors for making jokes they'd defend as free speech if they made them, outraged at political/religious satire, the list goes on and on.

The only thing that's clever about the alt-right is labelling outrage as a leftist thing when it never has been. The same thing can be said, in large, in regards to purity testing which isn't much of an issue outside of tumblr/twitter for the left.
Hoover publicized that MLK was a womanizer. This it textbook stuff.

Rick and Morty is based on a web cartoon making light of a sexual act between an adult and a boy. Why would anyone suddenly give a shit, now?

Why is fucking with kids a JOKE to y'all?

Look in the mirror and ask the question.

Comedy is comedy but from where I'm from, that shit won't get you laughs..... Just some questionable looks

I don't find it funny either.... but why do people care so much about what other people think of their sense of humor. If you find something funny you find it funny. Stop caring about what other people think

I recently went back and wiped everything pre 2016 on both me and my wife's twitter. Not interested in some alt right fuck retweeting some shitty joke she made when she was 14-15.

That is really smart. I'm either going to go back and do that or simply wipe my accounts altogether. Part of me feels that cutting social media out of my life would do wonders for my mental well being.

You can be funny without making "shock" pedo, racist, or rape jokes (and whatever other disgusting shit I'm forgetting).
Sure, but in the 90s and early 00s, you could be funny with making them, too. There was a huge audience for shock humor of this type. Comedy was and is entirely subjective, and if this type of humor didn't appeal to people, there were hundreds of comedians who didn't engage in this type of shock humor.

It is sad to say, but literally every person with anything to lose should get their ass off of social media as fast as possible. Intent be damned, someone will try to weaponize anything you say or do to bring you down.
Now now, people only have something to fear if they oppose our supreme leader. Loyal citizens will be fine.

? No I just wiped everything pre our accounts turning into just business which was 2016. Was easier to just delete without having to read everything.

She was 14/15 in 2009.
My point was that even innocuous bullshit can easily be twisted into something sinister by someone online if they really wanted to. If you're going to post anything at all online, that's the inherent risk involved regardless of how careful you're trying to be.

Rebecca Sugar was a teenager when she did what she did, it's not a case of some hollywood big wig who did a tasteless thing featuring minors, it was a minor fan who made dirty fanart of a show aimed at a demographic she was part of at the time.

That's why people gave her a pass.
That's fine and all but I'm saying this amount of nuance would never even enter the heads of the people engaging in these campaigns. And current corporate policy is, with some exceptions, to immediately terminate anyone caught up in negative social media drama. Businesses are still operating with the #metoo playbook while the alt right has already moved on to #deconstructedmetoo.

Some of the best comedy gets questionable looks. Some of you guys come across as Comedy Nazis. You don't get to determine what someone finds funny.

It's a JOKE. He's not actually raping a baby you fucking idiots.
No one on this forum comprised of mostly 20 year old and middle aged men remembers what internet content was like a decade ago.

hint: if you made a dead baby joke in high school, you know what dan harmon was thinking when he made this. If you didn't make a dead baby joke in high school, congrats I guess

Of all the things to joke about, why is raping minors the most attractive option? I'll never understand it.

And I'll especially never understand posting it on a public media platform for all to see.

Second. They're entitled to their opinion and they've got their reasons.

As to the topic at hand, no chance he gets fired and I don't remember twitter in 2009 and what kind of humor do you think this guy is known for?

It's clearly not the most attractive option when you consider the sheer amount of jokes made by all Hollywood creatives daily and that we have to reach back almost 10 years for examples.

In shock humor logic, that should be the logically "most hilarious" option because it's the most shocking.

Which is the logic you would expect from a 14 year old who wants to prove he's not a little kid anymore.

I get why someone successful would delete twitter. He should have done it months ago, go enjoy your money. Not sure why he deleted it in response to this though.

But it's a discussion forum. If you're going to spew morally absolutist nonsense you should expect to get called out on it.

Wow, let's ban this sicko. How dare you make a joke that could offend or be found in bad taste.

Deleted Facebook and Twitter two years ago. Best decision.

Let the peanut gallery play with itself and move on.
