My god. I don't think I can ever eat pancakes without peanut butter in them again. On a whim I added some as I attempted to cook pancakes for the very first time in my life at 2 AM yesterday.

This shit is god damn heaven. Surprisingly good with the standard Maple Syrup and Butter fare. I can't describe it but the pancakes were elevated from a blunt force, unchanging "Yep, this is a pancake" experience to a more dynamic flavor and consistency when in the mouth zone.

Is this a thing people already do, or am I just a fucking genius?

Also, share other bonus boppin' ingredients to foods that strictly enhance them.

EDIT: Just in case it matters, I used a protein pancake mix from a box.

Do they taste like peanut butter or is it just a consistency change? IM SKEPTICAL.

Both. None. I dunno. It's like discovering a new color.

Or maybe it's just fuckin' peanut butter in pancakes I don't wanna overhype it but god damn for me it's a personal revelation

Used to add cream cheese to a high protein pancake batter (forget the brand but I think it had a grizzly bear on the box), and it was gooood.

I used Kodiak Cakes, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it being a protein mix or not changes the way the peanut butter mixes in.

I already top my pancakes with PB. Mixing it in isn't necessary.

The real pancake mix-in hack is to mix in a few tablespoons of whipped cream.

OK but what if I don't want my pancakes to taste faintly of peanut butter?

You can do this with oatmeal. And then you've got peanut butter oatmeal.

Aha, that's the mix. I think it might have an effect, but pretty much anything I put in there came out good as long as it wasn't too wacky. Blended bananas was another addition I liked. Should have thought to try peanut butter before this.

Then mix in some shit you fucking commie

(Obviously joking! But for real, peanut butter is so good and underutilized. Not as much of an oatmeal man as I thought I was apparently, but I have some leftover so I'll try this out for breakfast sometime for sure.)

I would put honey and vanilla extract in mine. I would barely need syrup because it was so good already.

:(

I'll probably try out Nutella and Almond Butter next, but I think those are all produced in factories with heavy peanut presence, so I'm not sure how suitable of a replacement those would be.

So bad, but so so good.

Can't stand peanut butter so I'll pass.

I sometimes throw in a handful of porridge oats just to make them bit more filling or I'll be chewing my arm off by 10am.

Update on the Nutella Cakes:

Eh.

The taste kind of gets lost in everything else, and it doesn't affect the consistency in the same way that peanut butter does.

I think if I were to ever have it again, I'd have to use a fruit topping, as opposed to a maple syrup.

Not bad at all, but it's not a super noticeable change to me.

You gotta try puting a spoonful of peanut butter/nutella in the middle of the pancake as it cooks instead of mixing it into the batter. Awesome.

Nope. Keep pancakes as simple as possible.
In fact, throw away almost all stuff in the supermarket that is flavored in any way, for all i care.
